Great video. How does the new windscreen setup compare to the previous generation in terms of wind noise? Excessive wind noise has been my biggest complaint about the previous generation
Thanks for your videos on the bike. Two things, first trick I use for brakes is the zip or velcro tie the lever overnight to the bar. The next morning I use the top bleed fitting to remove air. It works well without having to bleed the entire line. Just top off your master once you do this. Second, the top box you have in the video is smaller than in your other shots. What model is that one? I'd like to use a smaller top box for my day-to-day rides. Thank you.
I'll have to give the zip tie a shot! It has improved but still isn't as solid feeling as my 2015. I only have one top case, and it's the OEM Ducati case for the Multi, it probably looks different due to perspective changes.
@@4KMotoring Ah Ok I guess the perspective made it look smaller. Yes, I trained with a coach who literally took TWO FULL YEARS only focusing on brakes and braking. He could out brake ANY AMA racer I knew. It was a trick he did the night before a race zip tying his lever to the grip. He wanted every single air bubble out of his line. He was completely anal about braking and I'm damn lucky he taught me as much as he did. The master cylinder on the MSV4S is a newer version of the Brembo master I used on my RC51 so I know it's a fantastic master cylinder. I have my bike set on the lowest possible ABS interaction which also helps. But I come from a time before ABS and slipper clutches too, being trained to blip the throttle while simultaneously squeezing the front brake lever and downshifting. I find myself still doing it, as old habits die hard.
That's a fantastic skill set to have! It's amazing how far modern electronics have allowed amateur riders to catch up to skills past riders have taken years to master. I'll absolutely give that zip tie trick a try!
Very interesting re your comment on the brakes……. I think you may have an issue, as my V4s never seems close to the limit, and if I pulled the lever to the bar I’d be doing an endo, or over the bars………even with full tank and a pillion, it just needs the slightest pressure to slow us fast, and when riding hard on my own with repeated hard braking (I’m a heavy guy 6’4” and thick set), I never feel close to the limit of the pads.
@@4KMotoring I test rode a Multi and a Tiger both with Brembo stylema's and Ducs were terrible in comparison. Weird that they are the same but so different
How do you compare the wind management on your V4 to the DVT you had? I’ve got a 2020 1260 and I’m contemplating a move to the V4. Possibly the new Rally with the exposed aluminum. Interesting comment about gearing as 6th on my 1260 is suitable above 80.
The wind management doesn't even compare, the V4 is so much better. That aspect is an absolute win over the 3rd gen Multi. I have been contemplating getting the fuel tank for the Rally and adding it to my V4s. Love the ventilated phone holder too!
@@4KMotoring seems to be a few folks thinking about fitting the larger tank. We’ll be interesting to see how easy or not it is and what the price will be. 👍
I also saw the new Rally has revised fuel mapping, allowing the cylinder deactivation to happen while cruising, not just at idle. I'm interested to see if that makes it to the regular V4 as well
About the fuel economy and gearing, I wonder how much acceleration would be lost by simply changing sprockets to increase the gear ratio speeds? Would be a lot cheaper than the v4 rally ducati wants guys to buy just to get increased fuel range!
I have wondered this exact thing for a while and am curious, with all the electronic sensors, how confused the bike would get if the sprocket was changed out. Really, I would love to see Ducati change the 6th gear ratio to be much taller, or even add a 7th gear! The acceleration in the first couple years as is is pretty phenomenal for a big bike like this, I don't really want to lose that purely for slightly better highway mileage.
An important note from the Owner's manual to be aware of: Changing the final drive ratio immediately makes the warranty null and void and the motorcycle can not be used on public roads as it no longer corresponds to the type-approved version. Front sprocket Rear sprocket Final drive ratio 16 42 2.6.
I ride an R1250RT-P daily and have noticed a little difference in initial bite, but overall both are very powerful. The GS telelever suspension definitely gives a different feeling from the front end. Also worth noting, the brakes are identical to the panigale with a less aggressive pad compound that can be switched if you want better initial bite. My Multi had a crack in one of the front brake master cylinder seals that kept letting air in, I've heard a few people have shared this issue.
@@4KMotoring I have a 1250 GS 2023 and bought a MS 2024,now 2000 km and I have to say,I find the front brake just ok,and indeed the telelever changes the breaking feeling.I can't get used to the front suspension diving in(switching from one to another daily isn't helping either),feels like he's going to throw you over the handle bars-)The rear brake on the MS is a toy compared to the brakes of a GS,my humble opinion.
Lots of setup choices on the Duc can affect the front and dive in under braking, different modes feel different as well. Lots to play with there to get the feeling you want. As far as the rear brake, I'll be posting a video soon of a small adjustment I made to mine to make a world of difference. It seems it was not really adjusted well from the factory but you can change that. Personally, I like a lot of bite very quickly into the pedal travel which definitely wasn't there. That can be adjusted though. The BMW has the rear bite figured out right away.
Nice video, I love my 2021 Ducati Multistrada V4S & have zero complaints & just can't say enough about how excellent it is, everyone ride safe 🙏
Thank you for sharing, I just ordered a Rally hopefully I will be taking delivery this week. Be safe and thank you.
Another great review Chis! Keep up the great work.

Excessive wind noise has been my biggest complaint about the previous generation
Aerodynamics have been a huge focus in the design of the V4. The overall wind protection is far and above better than the previous version.
What kind of central trunk do you have attached?
That's the OEM Ducati top case
Is there anyway you could do a quick review for maneuvering all the different modes on the Ducati V4 S
Sure can, any specific information you're looking for?

Chris, have your brakes given you any more trouble? My back brake caliper is locked up still waiting to be fixed..
