Be very careful doing the steamer/iron. The midsole of basically any shoe is glued to the upper so if you hit those binding spots long enough the glue will come apart and not adhere as well as it once was.

Check your work aftet 1 minuete of light use . remember to stop and then re start . sometimes itll be hard to get a crease out so after a few mins ill just start pressing hard and fast to get it done. I burnt suede doing that. Just have patience and treat your shoes with love

How long should you iron or steam the shoe for?
About 3-5 minutes. It really depends on how badly creases your shoes are
These are grey shoes, I don’t think putting damp water is a good idea . Any other suggestions ?
The nubuck shouldn’t be damaged too much but you can always hit it with mink oil and a soft brush to reset the nubuck
