Her Majesty, the Queen Margrethe is speaking in English, her hopes and wishes expressed in a delightful expression. As a British citizen, her expression and her reception is delightful. Thank you, Your Majesty...The United Kingdom loves you and your family....May you long reign over your nation, and may you be blessed to see many, many more years! ❤❤❤❤ From the United Kingdom, who lost their belovéd Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II recently 🙁🙁😟
Queen Margrethe II seemed to be a genuine, kind, and modest monarch. I love it when she animatedly speaks with other royals. Look at that Nine Provinces Tiara wearing by the very regal and sophisticated, Queen Mathilde! Breathtaking! Her Majesty's eye-smile adds up to her glow, really! 💗👑💐
Her Majesty Queen Margaret he has a beautiful accented English speaking voice. As an American royal enthusiast of all things European royal. I've enjoyed watching the videos of royal state videos I've watched over the last week or so, mostly of those given by Queen Elizabeth given in honor for the Kings and Queens of the Netherlands🇳🇱 and 🇪🇸.
Luka Yu I think it is. I was a diplomat for over thirty years and hardly ever spoke anything else. It used to be French and I rather think the French still wish it was.
It is. When did you ever think otherwise? It’s been yhe official language for the finance world and the official language to speak when several speakers of varying languages are present. Everyone knows english. That’s why English speakers are rarely bi- or multi-lingual.
DlchMcV Exactly so. French was, so they said, The civilised language. Certainly retired diplomats I know that served in the forties and fifties said it was more or less essential, because anyone who was anyone spoke French. I think English became the international language, Funnily enough, when the EU started expanding, and some of the new languages were tricky. And of course, in Finance. I keep my self busy now with publishing interests in Frankfurt, Berlin and Weimar, and have to practically force colleagues to speak German. I prepare all my board papers in German and they all insist we work in English. Doesn't help my German of course. Thinking about it, the only place I had to use French was when serving in Ottawa.
La reine de Dannemark parle très bien le français puisque son mari etait le comte Henri de Montpezat, un Français. La reine Mathilde a l'air toujours aussi godiche...
King Phillipe and his consort the STUNNING Queen Mathilde are both looking very pleased and interested what Queen Margaretha had to say!! Mathilde looks so regal and serene on this occasion!!
I can not hear a word she is speaking the magnificent jewels are drowning here out. FABULOUS!!!! Tiaras to the right of them.....Tiaras to the left!!! I am blown away!!!
It is so lovely hearing the Queen speak in English and she does it well the two Queen's tiaras are breath taking Please do more commentary in English as I for one find these videos fascinating .
Queen Margarita of Denmark had performed a recently State Visit at Argentina. She was so charming and she was very admired by our people. She visited too a city call Tandil situated at Buenos Aires Province where a community of Danish descendant live over there. It was her Second visit to Argentina, the first time it took place , when she was a single beautiful young girl. It took place during the sixty decade. Long life to Queen Margarita 🌹🌷🌺
La reine du Danemark est une personne magnifique, merveilleuse... Encore très belle.. Toujours souriante... Tres belle quand elle était jeune... Un couple magnifique avec Henrik de Monpesat. J adore, j'admire cette famille Danoise... ❤️
I noticed it too. That was weird ! In fact, I had the impression that Philippe and Mathilde seemed overwhelmed by the formality of the Danish court, or perhaps intimidated by Queen Margrethe's seniority. They looked so shy and deferential in the entrance procession that it was almost cute.
lol that could be. Although his face was so intense especially at 1:50 that my theory went along the lines of Margrethe grabbing the wrong piece of paper and she just winged it from then on, while he looks on confused and amazed. But that may be a bit far fetched. Nevertheless, that still doesn't explain why Phillipe's face looked like somebody just slapped him out of nowhere.
Yes, he does. He speaks English with a French accent as can be seen in his speech, but Philippe is fluent n English, Dutch and German besides his native French.
Good! I never heard the queen of England speaking French or something else but only English. I enjoy listening to the Danish and Swedish and Belgian speaking various languages no matter the accent. English people often criticize people who have an inflection in English while they can only speak English.
She spoke in English not French .She also had a lapsus, when she mentioned Queen Astrid, who was his grandmother . Paola was his mother . But then aging ;one has excuses .We have the same Age Margareth and I. Assomment state dinners. My bed welcomes me at 9 pm every evening .good music a peace. After a very busy life.
From the US....very excited that Katherine is visiting your vibrant Queen Margrethe II and Princess Mary. I see this as a welcome highpoint for the two monarchs and the broader EU.
Having diplomatic ties since 1837, shows loyalty on the part of the Belgians and the Danes. Ma'am you referred to "meaningless loss of life in another connection but that's exactly what, in my opinion, these Covid-19 deaths are.
The Belgian royal couple is wearing the sash of the Danish order of the Elephant, which is worn over the left shoulder. The Danish royals on the other are wearing sashes of Belgian orders (the order of Leopold for Queen Margrethe and CP Frederik, the order of the Crown for CP Mary and Prince Joachim, and the order of Leopold II for Princess Marie). The sashes of all Belgian orders are worn over the right shoulder.
It's recieved pronounciation, I imagine this was how a lot of her generation was taught to speak English, i'm not English or even British by a far stretch but my grandmother speaks English in a similar manner.
At about 1:50 King Philippe has the most shocked expression. "King? Of Belgium? Seriously? King of BELGIUM? Really? Well, I suppose that explains all the sashes, but someone should have mentioned this before dinner. Did you guys realize I'm the KING...of BELGIUM? Goodness me!"
That's because the proper form of reference to him is "King of the Belgians," not "King of Belgium"-----just as the Greek rulers were Kings "of the Hellenes" and not "of Greece."
Margrethe is known to many Royal Families of Europe as "Daisy",because she is descended from Princess Margaret of Connaught,Queen Victoria's Grand Daughter.Daisy (it seems) is a diminutive of Margaret.
+Paradox The name of the flower 'daisy" is "marguerite" in French and 'margarita' in Spanish. However, "Marguerite" and "Margarita" are also given names , whose equivalent form is "Margaret" in English and "Margrethe" in Danish. That is why "Daisy" is a synonim for "Margaret" in English.
I can't stop laughing at king Phillip ^_^ ^_^ poor man he looks so confused loll either way he was in shock because he wondered how he related to Margreth or he noticed queen Margreth had the wrong speech. :P
Belgium has three official languages: French, Dutch and German. QMII speaks both French and German, but she doesn't speak Dutch. To avoid any political embarassment, she had to use a "neutral" language then. English was the natural choice, as both Philippe and Mathilde also speak it (unlike Danish, for example,).

+ Udo: probably because Belgium has 3 different official languages (French, Dutch and German). If Queen Margrethe spoke in French , that could be seen as offensive to the Dutch-speaking Flemish community of Belgium. English is a neutral choice that everyone can understand.
Corroboro lo que leo en algunas de los comentarios acerca del rey de los belgas Felipe: su expresión resulta de lo más fría, perdida y como que le sorprenden las palabras de la reina danesa.
I suppose Philippe is just shy and somewhat umcomfortable in formal occasions like that. His speech to Queen Margrethe , which can be seen in another video, was very warm though.
Finesse and Demure Queen. Far from the pretentious Elizabeth of england. Refined Royalties and blood related noble family of Europe. Cheers! to the Queen and King of true Europe!

Long live the BEAUTIFUL QUEEN of DENMARK!!
The danish Queen radiates grace and positivity.
This is the first time I have heard Queen Margaetha speak. What an absolutely gorgeous accent!
I just learned some Danish royal history! Thank you for sharing Your Majesty. What a gracious host!
Further, Denmark's Queen Margrethe II is so inspirational for her lovely presence...Denmark must be very proud!
What a very gracious lady Queen Margarethe is, and also Queen Mathilde, she is such a serene figure, yet has great warmth. Lovely ladies.

When a Danish Queen is addressing a Belgium King in English, you know English is finally without doubt the defacto tongue in the diplomatic world.

I am given to understand that when members of royalty from 2 separate countries meet, they converse in English--common 2nd language to both.
This gathering area doesn't look very grand?..
Hello 👋
She is beautiful, warm & gracious. My 22ed cousin.
God save the Queen and King !
Margarethe is very popular ,so is Mathilde...beautifull queens!
Why was Philippe so shocked when Margrethe started her speech? What the hell happened?
I noticed it too. That was weird ! In fact, I had the impression that Philippe and Mathilde seemed overwhelmed by the formality of the Danish court, or perhaps intimidated by Queen Margrethe's seniority. They looked so shy and deferential in the entrance procession that it was almost cute.

Why did Queen Margaret, fluent in French, not deliver her welcome speech in French to the King and Queen of Belgium?
1:30 who is the officer standing behind King Philippe? Is he in the Danish Royal Life Guards?
the Danish Queen is a classy lady
H.M a truly devoted monark and an artist painter, love queen Margarethe, blessings from USA.

jealousy is a terrible thing to have in ones heart.
It's just so beautiful
What is movie name?
There is great style in Royal attire here. Seems The Danes are great at fashion
Aren't the flowers beautiful?
Yes beautiful flowers
Increíble que aún, existan reyes, reinas, principes 😁
The world would be even duller and unsophisticated without them.
Why are the regnal sashes strung differently for the Danish royals and the Belgian royals?
The Belgian royal couple is wearing the sash of the Danish order of the Elephant, which is worn over the left shoulder. The Danish royals on the other are wearing sashes of Belgian orders (the order of Leopold for Queen Margrethe and CP Frederik, the order of the Crown for CP Mary and Prince Joachim, and the order of Leopold II for Princess Marie). Her Majesty's accent though, is she british?
Pande I imagine she associated with British Royals, and probably tutors too
It's recieved pronounciation, I imagine this was how a lot of her generation was taught to speak English, i'm not English or even British by a far stretch but my grandmother speaks English in a similar manner.
Queen Margrethe studied at Cambridge and the London School of Economics. Hence her British accent.
She was studing in the UK and her mother Queen Ingrid had strong relation with her grandfather - Duke of Connaught- son of Queen Victoria of UK.
Love the tiaras! And that necklace! Did the Royals really earn all those medals though?
Never knew this delightful pronunciation of Tintin!
Grazie della visione

Hi Belgium! Yoo-hoo! 😘
Am amazed they use English. Not French or Danish. English is very dominant
I’m surprised the speech was given in English! 👏 by a Danish Queen to Belgian royalties.
