Congrats ! I had a 1542 bass tracker Jon boat and fished a lot on Lake Wylie with a 9.5 hp evinrude and it was a lot of fun. My cons on this particular boat was that 42” is not wide enough for me and it was tippy, and the 9.5 hp got us around but it was slow. Other than that it was fun, I had to sell it when we moved. I almost pulled the trigger on the bass raider last weekend but after talking with the wife I think after I pay my truck off I will get a 1448 too. I have watched all of SB fishing vids and I like the way his boat was done ! I look forward to your mods on the 1448, my two cents would be take your time and think it all the way through before you do it. I was in construction for 15 years and you know the saying measure twice cut once, sometimes I think we should measure more than that or you will be fixing more than finishing. Make good templates ! Good luck
Richard... you are absolutely right. I've never done so much research on a project in my life. Especially this one because I've never done this type of thing before. The Mods are coming along and I'm learning a ton along the way. Even when you think you've figured it out, you realized something else that changes your approach. All in all I'm loving the challenge and its making a great project while all is COVID stuff is happening.
Aren’t y’all the guys that were fishing out of a bass raider? I LOVE a 1448 Lowe but the rig/prep guys messed up. They mounted the winch at the top of it’s upright? They smoked some good shit that morning congrats on the rig!!

How do you like it so far? I just bought a new Lund 1448 that I’ll be putting a 25 merc on. The boat is literally a 14 foot tank. I’ve always had v-bottoms so I’m excited to see how stable it is. Picking it up this week. Tight lines bud. 👍🏼
does you boat come with the thicker aluminum hull .100" or more? do you know if thinner aluminum hulls are durable? I think the boat in this video is .072"
I just bought the L1448M to replace my older Alumacraft 14 footer to use with my older Yamaha 25hp engine. Tried to put the plastic gas tank below the motor, but it would not fit! The space between the rear seat and the transom is too short. What are you using for a gas tank and where do you put it?
I’m trying to decide between a 1448 and a fishing kayak. My garage is 20’ I got 16 realistically. How long is it with a trailer and do I need a trailer or can I truck bed it? Thanks
This 1448 with the load rite trailer takes up about 18 feet without an outboard motor. Add a couple more feet with motor. You will need a trailer for this boat. It's pretty wide.
The website tinboats.net has 100's (maybe 1000's) of mods others have done - lots of good ideas there Search for a guy named Bufford - he modified a flat bottom similar to this one 👍 Good luck - I've been working on a semi-v project - count on everything taking 4 times longer than you think it will!

Yeah crazy huh. There are three really good reservoirs around here that have that restriction. I found out when I tried to put my Bass Raider on it lol.
Putting a motor and an anchor on a boat is NOT a modification. If your home is a crib then you must be a baby. Which means you are not even old enough to operate a boat.

I bought a 1972 16 Starcraft for $400 and put a new 30 hp Suzuki on it.
was looking at a 1436 or a 1542 but I think I like this one more as a 1st boat for me. Maybe planing to upgrade in a few years to a 16 mod v.
The 1448 is a good wide body for stability. I think I might try a b mod too for my next jon boat.

I like the rod locker for sure. I spend allot less time prepping and getting the boat on the water with all the rods already on the boat.

Any reason you went with the flat front, rather than mod-v?. I've heard the second cuts waves better.
At the time stability was the most important factor for me. Now I would try a Mod V. That will probably be my next boat.

I haven't done a full tally yet but plan to put out a vid this winter on cost, supplies and tools to do a build like mine.

Nope. I wish but most dealers sell the trailer separately. I bought the trailer first then got the boat.
