Just cut up 4 apples into slices, brown them in 1tblsp. butter for 8 minutes on medium/low heat, add 1/2 cup brown sugar and cook for 3 minutes, turn off the heat and stir in 1 tblsp butter. That's it. The rest of the recipe is the same. Put the mix and butter on top.

I just take the canned apples and warm them a little in the microwave. Then top with a really good vanilla ice cream. Instant gratification.

I made that dump cake before what I would have done differently delicious but i would have put a jiffy at the top and at the bottom
I think I'd have mixed up the muffin mix and pour one on the bottom and pour the other one on top!
