Thanks for a clean video...just finished installing a Hook 4 on my PA14 and you could have included several F-bombs in regards to the difficulty of getting to the rear wire access! Find it hard to believe Hobie could not provide an easier access point. It's done now, but I want others to know the difficulty. Also it may sound like a given, but read the instructions and look at other videos as well.
I thought I'd be smart and set the Kayak up on two saw horses. DON'T! Working on the lawn or garage flour is much better. This is the VERY BEST set up video.Without this I'd have really stuffed up the instal. Thanks heaps.
very helpful on install on my hook 4 for my hobie mirage outback. I installed the battery in the round rear hatch.i can always put it up front if I don't like it back there.just make sure you don't shorten the power wires..or won't be able to do so..
I really need help on the wiring portion for my hook 4 and was hoping this could help except I bought everything here not from hobie so I saved $85 because it's not the brand but I got a lecture of how to do it all with just the hobie wires other than the lowrance wires it comes with! Didn't help at all. Great thanks.
Good video Jeremiah. I'm getting a Lowrance soon for my hobie & this is very helpful.

I have a PA 14. Just ordered the Hook 4. The back hatch access to unscrew the grommet is extremely difficult to reach.
Got that right. Don't know how short arm people can reach!
I see you guys have the hook 2×4 why don’t you have an instruction on how to use the trails and set way points ??
You need to press and hold the cursor key, bottom left, in order to create a waypoint. You can find the user manual in the unit's internal memory.
do you need to leave some space between the transducer and the plate?
I feel like it's better to mount the depth finder first so u know exactly how much wire u need and there won't have to be hardly any slack
do you setup the transducers for the hook 3 the same way
1:08 where can i get that ram mount. i cant find one that says it will fit a hook 5
Great question. The hook 5 works well with the same RAM Mount quick release bracket that was in this video.
YOU DONT SHOW HOW TO CONNECT THE FUSE!!!
EXACTLY! The only reason I wanted to watch this video and he completely skipped over that entire process. The other stuff is easy...
just in line on positive red wire....you will need a crimp tool.....
Its just an Inline Fuse. Stick it on the red wire between the Battery and the Sounder. Place it as close the battery as possible.
