- Steve's latest project car, the Lexus RX330 has a rear window that's stuck. The motor works, but window won't move up or down. See how he fixes the problem without buying any parts.

That was a pretty easy fix. Getting windows to work is more than a convienence it changes the feel of a new to you car. Great job!
Thanks Brent.
@@brentvonaschen7064 the thing is invest in the proper tools for pulling that off I bought a few metal and plastic ones and I have never regretted it how much is that stuff in automobiles today are pop it plastic rivets interior and exterior
Luv the cameo apperance of the "CUTE ORANGE TABBY CAT !! "
That’s Goose, great co-pilot 😁
Most Helpful ... Thanks!
I bought a 2003 Lexus RX300 from a Lexus dealer a few years ago ... nearly pristine & only 112K on the clock at the time ... and great price. Possible exception to Scotty Kilmer's: "Never buy a used car from a dealer” ?
I just did the 120K service myself; also changed a number of sensors, fluids, etc as preventive maintenance.
The dealer had changed transmission fluid at 63,000 miles ... BUT ... when I dropped the transmission pan, while the fluid looked good, that original factory filter / screen looked like a large slice of semi-clogged burned toast.
Looking forward to more on your Lexus Project Car
That’s unfortunately the case at a lot of dealerships - they’ll say anything. Should be a fun project, there’s more interior work to do, A/C repair, and a coolant leak. See ya in the next one.
Thanks so much for this … does the part that fell off (same thing happened to me) simply reattach to the glad with the rubber part ? It’s not held on by anything else ?
Yeah, just friction
Awesome fix. Such a common issue too!
I think they might work themselves loose over hundreds of cycles.
Deliver the controls that window up and down is connected to a little rail that stuck on the bottom of that glass buy a piece of rubber crimped in and the stupid things fall out because of the felt that absorbs all the moisture and becomes very sticky High friction and the control arm literally pulls off but I figure that's better than burning the motor out
Trick for the plastic taking warm the plastic a little bit not hot just enough to loosen the adhesive it's thermal sensitive
Mine worked for all except passenger. It now stops working midway up or down with both buttons. Any other suggestions?
Sometimes the part that slides inside the lift track gets loose or broken and will jamb up.
Tape over door frame to hold glass up
Good tip.
Thanks a lot for the viedeo, after waitching, I can fix the problem with my gx460. 👍👍👍
Glad it helped.
That felt is just like your seat belts they collect moisture and dirt and oil and if you don't clean and that's why you're all of a sudden your belt won't go back in the pulley it's not a weak pulley it's a dirty belt clean it the dirt is causing drag you do the same thing with that felt
Great info, thanks.
I thought mine would be easy like this, but my back windows on my Lexus go up and down like bats out of hell. I got the window back on the track. But because it goes so fast up and down it just falls off again instantly. Guessing it’s the regulator?
Interesting problem. I would guess regulator, but never seen that before.
Will this work for a 2002 IS 300
Yes, your IS and my RX uses very similar window regulators. You will see some small differences in the door panel removal.
Timely video but you did not show the most important part, how that channel that holds the glass fits in, with the regulator, ect, you did not show that :(
Sorry, next video I will.
@@ToolDemos Sure I am not the only "knows little about power windows" person that would greatly appreciate it :) Thank you for the reply. Think my Lexus back window has regulator problems. Been having trouble with a few windows, after digging in to the switches, come to find out some of the switch caps are breaking inside, so they are not able to push the two small plastic plungers that activate the switches. It is a 2004, so getting old and breaking I guess. Although a pretty cheap and easy fix.
Seems to be my issue. My GS300 window went down but doesn’t wanna come back up. The window motor is working so it should be an easy fix.
Happy wrenching. 👍
Good find and chepy husky screw drivers do it all ha ha
That’s right!
