A lot of misinformation here. Let me clarify that these two BMWs are almost entirely made in India by BMW's partner, TVS (not assembled). Yep, BMW is fully responsible for the specs and quality control of their two models, (GS and G310) so, TVS manufactures according to BMW specs. So you need not worry about quality here. The bike IS NOT imported as CKDs (and assembled) as some comments claim. The engines and the frames on all three bikes are BMW-TVS original designs, designed and built from scratch in India. A few electronics in the instrument panel are imported, but everything else is made in India by TVS Motors and it's group companies.
The Engine: Jointly designed by TVS and BMW. BMW was looking for a collaboration because they have no experience designing small entry level single cylinder engine motorcycles. They looked at Chinese manufacturers first, but owing to their past miserable experiences in China, like the theft and copy-culture there, they started looking for Indian manufacturers instead. They chose TVS. The same engine is shared by the 310 GS, G310, and the TVS RR 310. The only difference is that the RR310 is tuned to be rev happy compared to its siblings, these two BMWs. All the engines are manufactured at TVS' Hosur plant near Bangalore.
The Frames: 310GS and G310 were designed by BMW. TVS designed the exterior and frame of the Apache RR 310. All frames are made in India by Sundaram Clayton in Chennai.
Fuel Injection: Delphi-TVS, a group company of TVS makes the Fuel Injection for all three bikes. Here again, they make a more refined, relaxed (and more expensive) fuel injection system for the 2 BMW models. The Apache gets a cheaper version that's also not as refined.
Body Panels: G310 and GS body panels were designed by BMW, and TVS separately designed the body panels for the RR310. Sundaram-Clayton (another group company of TVS) makes the body panels and other minor parts for all three bikes.
For most people, TVS is a company that makes mopeds, autorickshaws, scooters and motorcycles. But TVS is a much bigger company and "TVS Motors" that we know is only a small part of their conglomerate. For nearly a hundred years, TVS has been manufacturing and supplying auto components to other manufacturers. They make and supply things such as Carburettors/FI systems (Delhi-TVS), Body panels/Frames (Sundaram-Clayton) and many other auto components to other manufacturers like Bajaj, Hindustan Motors, Daimler, Mercedes, Nissan, Hyundai, Maruti , etc.
Great little machine. There is a lady here in Canada that has one and she already has 24000KM on it. She loves it.

I'm a beamer fan and I was hoping that this would be my first BMW but the cost is just bullshit for a 300cc motorcycle, 4&4.5 lakhs, I'm screaming in my head right now. Damn you BMW people!!!!
Muffler looks and sounds like TVS AkulA...seems bcoz os Tvs and BMW are collaborated to manufacture single cylinder bike in 300 cc segment.

I’m not impressed by the 310 siblings they’re ok but they’re no way better than what KTM will offer, for me the good thing is that atleast people now have an option for an adventure bike (390 adventure coming soon)
The G310R is over priced by 30k that’s my opinion and why the GS is 3.5 lacs is something I don’t understand for a bike that shares 90% of the parts

4.50 lakhs BMW 310gs = 2.80 lakhs Duke 390 + 1.20 lakhs (petrol 4rs/km for 30000kms or 1 year) + 50 thousands (spare parts, maintenance).......... conclusion this single cylinder BMW bikes is overly hyped stuff, why pay 1.70 more just for BMW batch and refinement, plus low power instead go for Kawasaki offerings near 5 lakhs budget.
