Please do give this a watch/listen. We'd like your feedback on: does this work? What can change for the better? What to add? What to remove? Thanks in advance!
16:27 Suspension part explanation was beautiful… I rarely cared about suspension as far as no back/body pain for me. Why there is no mono shock absorber for cruiser wouldn’t it solve the comfortable part.
The context setting at the beginning was great - what to expect from a certain kind of a bike and how it should perform. There are technical limitations to certain platforms like cruisers having a low seat height hence shorter travel springs, equating to less comfort. Most people don't get this, they just expect since the seating is more "relaxed", it will be a comfortable bike. Also appreciated the discussion around bike design - what makes a thunderbird a pseudo cruiser vs the meteor. Form over function on the cruisers, etc. What I think could also have been discussed is Harris Performance's role in the design of the new RE bikes. Given that their history is more on the SBK side of things, how much were they involved in designing a cruiser, if at all.
You are right. I heard the specs and looked at the pics a zillion times. All i needed was just the feel and detailed insights. Thanks a lot Shumi. You helped a lot for a person who hasnt seen the motorcycle in real.
You guys are creating a new standard on vehicle analysis and podcast. Kudos for your mindset and this passionate talk. Feels like a very very fresh content even If I know most details about this bike. Thank you Shumi and Karthikeya. Hope to see a lot more standard content from you guys like this. By the way, the background and the whole setup of the channel from the logo to the animation, editing format, fonts everything feels fresh and unique. Guys, I just respect you for your honest opinion❤️
Loved the format… free flowing & honest discussion… cruisers are sedans of bike world, format is shrinking…SUV/ADVs are the flavours people prefer these days…
As I have seen.. the podcast is not restricted by the length but its governed by the topics you can find for the motorcycle. just like the old days of me and my friends sitting and discussing without any ref photos or videos and purely based on memory we used to say about our experiences.. I felt it and it touched my heart. Shumi is just a great at dictating and explaining the bike thru words that I genuinely didn't need the visuals because I was able to visualize myself about the riding.. comfort.. the seat adjustment.. the accessories and all of it.. he's gifted at explaining intricate details in a laymans term that everyone is able to understand.. very well done and looking forward to such first impressions
So this man right here grew some hair changed his look and while he was at it changed the aesthetic, vibe, mood, halat and jasbat of the channel. Kudos 🙌
I don’t mind it being longer. I love the minor details that I can get from this conversation, details I didn’t hear in reviews, pointers like the foot peg is too in the front. Hoping for more videos like this
Shumi here. I disagree. I think it will distract you from what's being said. The images/things are easily available on the internet and you should be able to find what you need very easily. I'd rather have an interesting discussion than image overlays drawing your attention from what's important.
Love the format. I think you have the discussion about whether cruisers (bike types) are relevant to India before the expectation from the specific bike, and keep the rest of it as is. The concept of having a first ride discussion of a new bike on ThisConnect where the both of you talk to each other over it is genius. Keep this as a thing going forward. I always love it when both of you are talking to each other on bike reviews as compared to the single person videos because different ideas are put forward and analyzed
As someone who's planning to get the SM650 as a "secondary" motorcycle, this was extremely informational. "Super"thanks (pun intended). As for the length of the podcast, I think you guys nailed it, 30-45 minutes is the most time needed to dish out the most important information to an audience, specially ones who are actual motorcycle/car enthusiasts. And I agree, on some if not all the pointers regarding "cruisers" technically not being for comfort more than style, and backing them up with the technical angle was definitely the way to go. Amazing piece of intel as always. Don't change anything, keep it as you planned it, short, crisp, factful and CORRECT. When you can get an audience to stick around for a 40 minute video on Monday morning in between office calls, "WITHOUT" overlaying cringe worthy bike shots, flashy but honestly tacky graphics, high velocity cut scenes and "dhamakedaar" music.. I 'd say you already have a hit!
Fresh take on how bikes can be reviewed to their core, without showing a single shot of them in entire length of the video. I like it when you two sit together and talk whatever it is, pure adrenaline.
Wow! This kind of talk is welcome. You are giving review, opinion, the other person who did not get a chance to ride is countering with their set of questions and viewpoints. Too good. Would like this to continue.
This has to be one of the best bike reviews that I have seen. Initially I was sceptical as to how this would go, but as the video progressed, realised that this format actually made a lot of sense. I think listing out these reasons would be a good idea. 1. No music or shots to distract the viewer and they actually pay attention more easily. 2. Motorcycles and rides are always about feelings and stories we have on the ride. Every time a brother or a friend returns from a ride, we are as excited to listen to the stories at least equally, if not more than the person telling that story. And this format gave that feeling of just sitting with your friends listening to their stories and experiences and how the bike performed. 3. One big advantage of this format, was that it allowed the conversation to not be a one track thing about just the bike itself, but gave a more wider perspective in terms of the format, the other bikes that are out there, maybe some topics that are just not spoken about in a traditional bike review....just because it never comes up. Loved the video... kindly do not match the length of the video to how long you ride the bike 😂😂
Just finished watching the full video from start to finish. The format is amazing. Don't change anything. You'll have been doing this forever. You'll understand motor vehicles especially motorcycles better than most in this country. The depths of the discussion beyond spec sheets and all the usual stuff we get from other motor journalists is really refreshing and extremely engaging. Love it. Just do what you'll do. You are passionate people. I trust what you'll will come up with will only be interesting. You'll have class and therefore you wont get it wrong 🙂
@@motorinc Sir can you please please make such a dedicated video on RR310 and TVS as a brand! As you have been working with TVS for so many decades, i would like to know your true unbiased opinion on the bike and would you prefer it over the other competitors! 🙏🏾 Btw thanks again for such lovely and enlightening videos! You really gave me a new perspective about motorcycles! Jai hind!🗿❤️
I think RE did a great job on this bike from what I have seen so far….I’m retired in Thailand and want to start touring a little bit.. and my only option was triumph speed master.. the SM would be more budget friendly and more economical for me and I think it looks just as nice.. and I believe will have the power to do what I need… now we just need to get them into my local dealer… thank you RE… for giving me a more economical choice….
Another masterpiece of a conversation from two of the best automotive journalists on this planet. I loved the part where Kartik explained about the suspension and how the style of the cruiser limits it and thus resulting in a less comfortable bike. Keep up the great work. Everything was to the point and relevant.
I love this format, I’ll tell you why… there are two journalists, one who has ridden the motorcycle one who hasn’t. And we get a taste of both trains of thought. An idea of what a motorcycle might be, and what the motorcycle actually felt like.
This is exactly how I want to know about vehicles. Fast paced music laden reviews and the rush to be the first one to release those reviews have taken away from the most important part of any machine. The genuine heart to heart connection between a machine and the emotions it evokes. This actually makes you think about what you want, what to expect and how to truly feel that most essential connect with the machines. In a world of first rides, breaking news, spy shots and spec sheet warriors, you're talking about the machine in levels the true motorhead wants to hear. Game changer. Thank you.
Thank you for making this video @MotorInc! I am someone who is seriously considering an upgrade from my classic 350 (which I use for both touring and commutes regularly), and this video gave me a lot of clarity. I am not a man of specs and tech, but more of a biker that wants a good looking functional motorcycle to tour India with 3 metal panniers and sometimes a pillion. I was waiting for the super meteor to be out, but was bummed out to find that the showrooms are yet to receive test mules in Chennai. And so, all I could do was look at the display piece and imagine the rest. While I liked many things about it, the footpeg position, ground clearance and possible width (after fixing my own panniers) did not inspire confidence. Thanks to you, now I have a better idea of what would be best for me. Also, I love this no nonsense honest discussion format of yours, so please continue doing this from time to time. Keep rocking and keep growing! - Ajay Aadhithya Chandrasekaran, a simple biker from South India.
I wanna ride this.. I am attracted to its looks.. RE has become huge in the past 15 years.. I can imagine myself riding it in 6th gear and cruising at 120 kmph.. imagining a 650 Parallel twin ADV as well.. ❤️ Also I would listen to these two talk for hours, no change required for me for now.
This format simply works! I’m able to potter around the house, or drive, while listening to the podcast. Don’t have to keep my eyes glued to my phone screen all the time, and that for me, is the clincher. If I want to ‘see’ the bike/car/machine/accessory being discussed, plenty of channels to go to, when I can. But for a quality discussion on the subject at hand, this is an outright winner!!
Never thought i would listen to two guys who look like a real life motu patlu talking about a motorcycle for whole 30 minutes without any motorcycle in the video. Benchmark for the rest of podcasts and motorcycle youtubers out there. What a class hats off
I like how shumi spends a lot of time discussing about suspension, handlebars, footpegs, and all small details that affect the experience and not only the engine and basics. There was no mention of power, torque, rev range, weight or any thing that spec already shows and that is how a conversation becomes interesting. Definitely open to get more length of these sessions. Also like to suggest if you guys can take random QnA or a separate QnA video about motorcycles in general.
As Karthik said :"the reason I asked this is to set the expectations here(upper limit) and here (lower) -It would be better if he said why was he asking that questions in the beginning rather at the end... because if we wanted to come back in the future for "reasearch" it would be easier Suggestions: 1 If you are going to follow the same format then it would be better to have segments like a) comfort....b)ride handling........c) specs........d) competition price..... Etc and have it displayed on screen for future vehicles so that it's easier to come back to relevant sections in future for repeated watching ( I agree it's not much use for single watch) 2 Please have other media of communication like discord or fb group to crowd source suggestions, ideas for faster feedback rather than waiting for your video and asking feedback there ie shorter cycle hence more can be achieved Suggestions for future topic: Probably a mini series in podcast BIKE DEVELOPMENT (car too) From inception, design to testing to public road testing, camouflaged sightings to pre release & post release What is best way to give feedback to manufacturers and when is it too late to make changes in developmental process
This one appears fine! Did you comment something elsewhere? Shumi had this issue a couple of weeks ago too... looks like too many comments or something causes a sort of "suppression" to happen... the algorithm might think it's spam or something
As your comment: 1. It does! See the chapters please. But yes, feedback noted. 2. We respond to 95% of the comments within minutes. The other 5% within a day. So whatever question you have... just post it wherever you like! 3. Suggestion noted! Very good idea!
I always get mesmerized whenever you speak so passionately about bikes Shumi! This podcast is a game-changer in the game of "HONEST" bike reviews. Loved the way you set the expectations straight and made people think if Cruiser is really a bike for Indian roads and then come to the review or ideally discussion about the Super Meteor 650. 👏👏
It's cute and a bit funny to see Karthik being a bit afraid of Shumi when he raise his hands before interrupting Shumi and pitching in with his opinion. Respecting your elders is a reflection of your character :D. Jokes aside, loved the video
Okay so after watching this for a second time, 1. This was the most comprehensive review of the bike I could find anywhere I was left extremely satisfied and I had all the information I needed 2. This format is perfect to just leave on in the background while I jog or do chores 3. The greatest advantage of the long format is that you could cover almost every base and structure it into segments that i could easily click on in the scroll bar and go to the exact part I wanted 4. this format gets lackluster after a while. It's soothing and informative, but lacks any excitement and flair. I know what the bike made Shumi think but not what it made him feel. 4.1 this reminds me of my childhood where I eagerly awaited my autocar magazine to read about cars i could only dream of, is an article in a podcast 4.2 it really lacks what makes the format of video reviews excellent, the emotion and excitement that's tangible when you do a ride review. I hope to see a pov ride review soon (see Zack courts on Revzilla) I think both the formats have their place 5. Most of these reviews seem to be K asking and shumi giving his opinion, I understand this was the only way to do this particular review, since S had ridden the motorcycle and K hadn't, but still maybe a little more balance would be nice I hope this helped! Cheers and lots of love Eagerly awaiting more content!
4. This was to be expected. This _is not_ a review. It's a set of feelings from the first impression ride/drive. That's why feelings take a back seat to more practical concerns like using one daily (and then, buying one). POV reviews are _very unlikely_. The person who will convince Shumi to talk while he's riding? We're still looking for that stalwart 😆. 5. This was also to be expected... K hasn't ridden the bike and therefore this one _had_ to be a little one-way. Thanks for the feedback Ashwin!
Loved every bit of this podcast. This is one of the few podcasts where I will not tap on the screen to see how much is left for the video to end. It's like all you need to know before taking a test ride kind of a podcast. You are kind of setting a perspective which a rider needs to have before going to test ride the super meteor 650. I have two colleagues who wanted to buy the bike but kind of stalled their decision after checking the spec sheet. I have forwarded them this video so that it helps them in taking a decision. Edit: I would like to see a podcast where you discuss about how to tastefully customize your motorcycle cosmetically or about brake upgrades like brake fluid boiling points, pad material, performance upgrades like engine components/exhausts/ecu tuning etc.
The best!! Nothing to change. It’s like listening to your friend discussing over a hot cup of coffee. Didn’t even realise I spent 39 minutes on super meteor first impression without pictures or short videos…. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
This is an amazing format of podcasting discussing vehicles weighing their aspirational value and practically like a discussion between friends, I think it covers and conveys things better. Thanks guys for starting this. ❤
18:47 on my way to work, I have patch of bump on road where I always try use brake to slowdown my Avenger till a point closer to bump & then releasing it just as it touches it, man the bike glides through it. Glad to see an expert & well experienced rider like shumi mentioning this kind of technique.
Loved this format! Wouldn’t mind having some more of the technical titbits, like the one Kartik San shared about why suspension on cruisers will always be a compromise :)
I love how u both weave history and knowledge with ease, leaving us with a rich tapestry of information. Keep revving those engines, can't wait for more!
When I used to watch Zigwheels & Powerdrift, I always used to think that if both Karthikeya & Shumi could join hands. Now my dream has come true. These two are best of the best. Keep going, first impression in podcast format is an exciting. Coming to the Super Meteor, every review I've watched highlighted how good it is and so on. But only in podcast I found out what the true setbacks are to the cruiser design. Like Shumi said, the forward footpegs will truly make your butts pain. Thanks for enlightening us, keep up the mega job you both guys are doing, love to listen to both of you.
Would love to hear both of you to talk on Pulsars & Dominars . These bikes deserve a long format video like this too. I know there's not much to talk about it features-wise, but it's good hear about Pulsars from shumi .It's what close to sport bike a common man can afford. Great vibes al always.💯❤️✨
Its an awesome idea to keep it as a discussion. Because it brings different perspectives into a single paper and help us to understand it much better. I would be happier to hear the discussion to go for much longer time. As always, its a great video. Thanks a lot to the team❤.
Informed, crisp and unbiased. This is the first MotorInc video I'm watching and I feel that our silent concerns have been validated by experts. Loved it. Please continue this format.
Shumi is very good at the explaining the concept vs practicality. The part of what RE could've achieved by adding ride by wire vs the cost was good and I think that is limiting factor at most cases. The shotgun optimism vs reality / precedence with RE was also good. I theoughly enjoyed the whole podcast.
I own a RE Thunderbird 350 2016... I also was wowed by the looks of the bike and went for it without riding it too much... What that led to was the most unhappy 3 years of my life however it also taught me what type of bike I love and what I want from my next bike .. I totally agree with Shumi saying that cruisers don't have a place in India
Loved the balanced perspectives presented here. Went on a 1.5hr drive before watching the video and the observations here tallied with my experience at least. Thanks for doing this! Refreshing to see an objective review in the midst of all the hype and excitement.
loved the format. This is fresh. I really like it; First talking about a particular segment and setting the context and then getting into the actual product. ❤❤❤ I wish there is a motorcycle engine placed somewhere in the background😅😁.
I'm thinking about buying my first bike and got to learn that Focusing on what a cruiser bike has to offer and setting one's expectation accordingly is very important. Thank you for this super informational podcast. I will be watching a lot of your videos before I make up my mind on which type of bike is suitable for me and accordingly what bike to purchase ❤️❤️
Really enjoyed the podcast, a lot of Knowledge transfer. Not only got a perspective of meteor 650 but also helped me to limit my expectation for a cruiser over all and what to expect from it. Thanks for sharing , but yeah was missing small clips in between the podcast where you were explaining the ride quality and specification of the bike
What clips would have actually helped? And please don't say "shots of suspension moving..." If you can tell us precisely, we can aim to ensure those kinds of shots are with us. Specification? Do you really need us to do the spec? Doesn't the entire internet already have the spec on display?
Very detailed and the one thing you guys made clear for everyone is that the cruisers are not for everyone. Test and check if you are comfortable then only buy it.
loved this conversation. parts that i liked is the technical details of the format and suspension. The part where we expect RE to do something substantially different for a shotgun seemed too optimistic. feel they'd only do few changes like footrest, front rake and flat handle bars.
Love it, absolutely fantastic initiative. Great work by two of the best automotive journalists in the country with unmatched intelectual prowess. Hoping to see more of such videos with no unnecessary shots and music or some kind of distraction. Really hit the nail on the head with this one. Take a bow guys, take a bow.
Now that's some unique content, I just sat through the whole conversation without looking the time stamp, will I ever get to see cost analysis of developing and producing motorcycles and cars. Because we never get to hear about various constraints companies faces while producing new vehicles.
Thank you Amal! Glad it worked for you! Cost analysis is very hard to do without a lot of shot in the dark guesses because most brands will give you (sometimes) an overall figure of development cost. But break downs of that are almost never publicly revealed. It puts pressure on them from the investors as well as is information a competitor could use against them.
Excellent information on the Super Meteor. I experienced this motorcycle (tourer package) from Andheri to Navi Mumbai. Scraped the first breaker and then cleared them all. Result = using the footpegs to squat over breakers and bad roads involves some leap of faith on the suspensions and unintentional downshifts thanks to a large gear shifter with heel extension. Palm beach offered a nice stretch, but I did not enjoy the exhaust note while the engine still has a mechanical character allowing wheel spins on lower speed accelerations on 2nd gear. This motorcycle hates chasing top-speed figures and is a calm cruiser apt for format lovers. Loved the brakes, good bite, and progression; while U-turns make it feel a bit heavier than most motorcycles, the dimensions and weight would involve some adaptation. Friendly pricing on the format by RE and good information, but we would love some tracking shots or motorcycle shots as breakers from your handsome faces.
We would do something like this in our xBHP G2Gs. I am no longer active on those so miss this kind of discussion. Absolutely love the format, keep it as is.
I'm a North American, and I enjoyed this thorough discussion of the Super Metreor, even though it was for an Indian audience and buyer. And... I also thought that a few graphics to illustrate your points could have helped.
This format of review/discussion is such a gem. Like two friends discussing this in middle of the day. I literally plugged this in while working and it was pure bliss! Couple of things where I think the format can be improved upon - As this was a first ride review I think that should be mentioned well and what one can notice in first ride and what aspects needs more time to be spent on the seat to conclude. - Extending this format to review long term bikes say after 5K or 10K Kms, which might give a better perspective in terms of living with the motorcycles and we as audience can make a informed decision. - I wish both of you could share your experience rather than from the pov of just Shumi. No doubt the shared experience was wonderful, but having someone to tell the story from a different pov matters. This format is great for discussion, thoughts and disagreements. Let that be there :) As always, love the new form of content, keep them coming! Wishing the team very best ahead.
1. First ride point noted! 2. Long term bikes aren't planned as a content flow for the moment. But it's good suggestion... let us figure this part out. 3. This time was one-POV because only Shumi has ridden the bike. That's why Kinghee needed to 'Catchup' as it were. Thanks Rishikesh! Do let us know your thoughts as and when they occur to you. Every drop helps fill the ocean out!
The most amazing thing that clicked to me that it can be a new format of review as well alongside the traditional one as it is just 2 friends talking, sharing experiences, asking questions and building upon the things said making it more relevant to the end user and real world scenarios. If something that can be added I think it should be a little segment of what that motorcycle ride did to your soul and heart in that confined space of time and what was the overall feeling which an average rider but with good knowledge can expect out of the buying and living experience.
Thank you Abhinav! If it did do something to the soul... we are pretty sure KaMi would have brought it up. Neither are cruiser fans as far as we can tell, but both get that this is a pretty decent cruiser.
I really enjoyed this format and I would really like to see a discussion on some of the existing machines in the market like the Trident 660, CB650R (just naming a few that I'm interested) or on a segment like middle weight naked for example. Thanks for the amazing content ✌️
Got it Manu! We do respond to _literally everything_ here and on Instagram DMs. So don't wait. If you have questions, just shoot them out! We'll get to work on responding within minutes...
"The visuals takes such presidence that functionality has to be compromised" That's why I love when Shumitalks. Such precise and direct statements is the reason why I would want to hear them talking for hours ❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Hey Guys, loved this format. Moreover the passion with which you guys speak makes me want to hear more and more. I know the interceptor has already been discussed several times but I really wish to see the discussion for int650 in this particular format.
I learned a lot about how to be so articulate by watching the video. At one point of time I forgot that it’s a review of motorcycle and was on awe of the vocabulary and eloquence. What a fun way to learn so much by enjoying the thing that we like equally. Keep it pouring!!
The format is great, and keeps your attention to the conversation. Would be great if you could have involved a little more on the tech specs. In this video it was a touch and go when you started with the “change in wheel size changing but the sprockets and over all setup wasn’t changed”.
Got it. More spec would help. We're not fans of diving into spec because it alienates more people than it solves for. But we do believe a better balance is possible. Thanks Abizer!
Meteor and super meteor are the only two bikes which i had found to be comfortable and practical for my purpose. This is my opinion after i have rode the KTMs, husky's, x440, tvs's, suzuki and yamaha's.
Please do not change anything about the format as we need this kind of discussion about vehicles and this is also a refreshing approach to discussing a bike/car.
Late in the comments, sorry. Had to watch it twice (not back to back, also weekdays) to find out if the video felt dragging at some point and it didn't. A conversation like this after a first ride/drive is excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed it and this is exactly what I would do with my friends after a first ride. Loving this idea of first ride podcast.
You 2 have changed channels and have been involved with bikes for a long time. I always thought what if you 2 got together.. I didn't even know if you 2 know each other personally as I don't think there are videos of you 2 out there on the net. To see this is just soo soo fulfilling. Keep it up boys! I am gonna be tuning in to this channel more often.
Please continue the good work. Please summarise the pros and cons at the end. That would have been cherry on top. This is the first honest discussion about any product without flashy visuals or anything. Great job guys
This discussion is the best format I feel to have a first impression of a new bike, while we wait for the full fledged review with b-roll and everything. You guys talking about it for the first time also makes it more interesting, as we get to see a bit of back and forth of ideas and questions.
Do you think we could do all first rides/drives like this? And as you felt it needed more depth - what was it that you would like to see added to the discussion?
The conversation is just perfect with an detailed insight. I guess since everyone here are not just passerby and is here to listen to that what the machines feels like and to own from professionals like both of you is what its all about. Whats special is that MotorInc has a soul and just keep it alive! Doesnt get better in a world where attention span is reducing to goldfish. The conversations are soulful! You have all the attention you need.
This is exactly what I needed. I'm so glad to have come across this podcast after so many pointless user reviews. Hope to see more such content in the future.
Loved the entire episode and I felt that it is a much better format than 6-7 minute first ride impression videos that don't get into these many details. To be more specific, the chapters that i enjoyed the most were : a) Things to look out for when you test ride and b) who is the motorcycle for
Huge fan! Love this format. Looking forward to hear more conversations on general biker stuff: traveling, biking culture and bikes in general. Would love to hear more but your aprilia! Hoping to get one next year, although the tuono version. General information on how living with it is like, maintanence and upkeep. Very excited about the future of this channel!
Logged-in for work...checking my emails and planning my day ahead with this Podcast of two of my favourite auto-gurus playing along - Perfect start to the day. Do wanna test ride this bike - though not planning to change my Interceptor 650 anytime soon.
8:22 Shumi is right about this. If you want comfort primarily you gotta go for ADVs. Cruisers are 60/40 ( in my opinion) at looks/ comfort part of their anatomy. And especially in our country Touring/ cruising in comfort means ADVs......Great podcast like always motorinc.......waiting for the next one🔥🔥🔥
I did not know how the 39 mins went..it’s was like me and my friend just sitting and speaking about bikes for hours…this format is good and I liked it 😊
Okay so, 3 important things from this upload: - Loved this type of format of discussion, very immersive (fastest 40 mins of mine on UA-cam) - Cruisers and their limitations make total sense now even more actually due to the dive deep in layman's terms - Thank god (and RE) the 'template' format wasn't overdone in context of further improvement else I personally feel it'd translate to looking like a "Mahindra Mojo" or another Hillbilly from the motorcycling world.
Perfect. Thank TFE! Glad you enjoyed that and yes, you're right, the lack of needless overdoing, as you call it, certainly makes the Super Meteor 650 look better!
Hey, I am loving your work. I like how you don't get judgemental about vehicles and view them as they are. I admire the format and wish it stays like this with two veterans talking, and expect guests on your show too. What I would like to hear from you is if putting names of older vehicles on newer vehicles which are different in character justify the cause, as in catering to expectations the name carries?
Thanks Abhishek! Glad you liked that... the guests are a good idea. We've thought about it but it will take us a while to organise a space/set to accommodate more people (being worked out though). Brand names are strange things. Creating a new one is limitless freedom to invent stuff. Using an old one means it comes with its own boundaries. But is there a thumb rule to when to use new/old? Not that we are aware of. We know this. The reward of using an existent brand on a terrific consonant product is massive. The risk? It's just about the same size and harder to recover from... neither the product, nor the equity of the brand emerge from that disaster untarnished.
Living with an Indian Scout for 5 years. You are so right! Cruisers hurt. They are not that much comfortable. You can live it though, may be and may be not. That depends on the rider.
Honestly, as much as i like listening to Shumi and loved his longer podcasts about riding gear, owning a big bike etc, I would be happier with a 15 review.
These videos work quiet well . In these times majority people are focusing primarily on videography and cinematography u guys are putting facts up front
Kartikeya and Shumi sir, I beg you to keep talks like these regular on MotorInc irrespective of the views and subscriber count. Even as a Yamaha Fanboy, I can watch this on repeat. Priceless
So....I finally made up my mind and bought the Super Meteor, yes, ride wise, its a lot different from the other bikes i owned previously. And yes there is a breaking in period for one to get used to this bike format. But suprisingly it didnt take much time. Been on a few rides with it and I can honestly say, i am in love with it. On the highway, it sits beautifully at around 100/110 with enough room for acceleration in 'zap-that-truck' mode. because of the long rake angle, it was super glued to the tarmac and planted, Suspension wise, it is exactly how you described it, it is stiff at the rear shocks and it hits the tail bone directly....one peeve i have come to terms with. other than that. I quite like the cruiser format. (my previous bikes were the RD 350 and the Classic500 and an over modded RXG) Speedwise, the bike maxes out at around 150-155 (i weigh over a hundred) and i wished that maybe a little more cc's, i think a 750 cc engine and some more horses would have been perfect..but thats just me, i am a wednesdays child...never satisfied......CIty ride also is just a matter of getting used to, can i throw it around like a hooligan bike, maybe not, but i can hold my own and ride it like the hooligan i always was and will be. i come from a time where there werent many choices and we made good on what we could afford and did everything with it even if it meant your ride of choice was probably meant only to delivery milk. today, the number of choices and opinions both exist and point in the same direction on the graph sheet (which is not a bad thing).....but I, like the humble bumble bee (which is the least aerodynamic winged creature on the planet) ignore all laws of physics and fly anyway...or in my case...suit up and ride......
Please do give this a watch/listen. We'd like your feedback on: does this work? What can change for the better? What to add? What to remove? Thanks in advance!
Oh and BTW. This is completely **unedited and unfiltered** for content.
I love deep dive into vehicles in podcast format. Absolutely brilliant!
@@shrinivaspai MotorInc has responded to your comment (the large one). It wasn't being moderated or anything. Not sure what happened. Can you check?
A review, with no "shots" of the bike, no mention of the specs, and still the most insightful one out there. Hats off to the both of you.
Duuuuuuddddeeee! Thank you so much Yogeshwaram!
You are right. I heard the specs and looked at the pics a zillion times. All i needed was just the feel and detailed insights. Thanks a lot Shumi. You helped a lot for a person who hasnt seen the motorcycle in real.
The birth of the legendary First Impressions videos.
Much appreciated! Thank you so much Ananthan!
Loved the format… free flowing & honest discussion… cruisers are sedans of bike world, format is shrinking…SUV/ADVs are the flavours people prefer these days…
Interesting analogy! But the sedans have a lot more versatility on their side. We hope they grow too!
Thanks Yash! Glad that got the spot!
So this man right here grew some hair changed his look and while he was at it changed the aesthetic, vibe, mood, halat and jasbat of the channel. Kudos 🙌
😆🖖🏽♥️
I don’t mind it being longer.
I love the minor details that I can get from this conversation, details I didn’t hear in reviews, pointers like the foot peg is too in the front.
Hoping for more videos like this
Thank you Vimalan! Glad it worked out!
For those who watch the podcast, adding images of the bikes or things you guys are talking about, for reference, would be a great addition.
Shumi here.
Awesome! Thank you Karan!
Wow TFP! That's awesome! You've made our day!
Fresh take on how bikes can be reviewed to their core, without showing a single shot of them in entire length of the video. I like it when you two sit together and talk whatever it is, pure adrenaline.
Thank you very much AutoMate! 🖖🏽♥️
Wow!
This kind of talk is welcome. You are giving review, opinion, the other person who did not get a chance to ride is countering with their set of questions and viewpoints.
Too good.
Would like this to continue.
Super! Thank you for the vote!
Haha! Length - some might be too long or too short then! Thanks for your analysis! Helps!
Wow! Thank you prancinghors! You just made our day (as usual!)
best thing about these kinds off videos is that it's pretty raw, unbiased and enlightening!
Thank you very much!
Can do! Thanks for the suggestion!

Have fun!
Another masterpiece of a conversation from two of the best automotive journalists on this planet. I loved the part where Kartik explained about the suspension and how the style of the cruiser limits it and thus resulting in a less comfortable bike. Keep up the great work. Everything was to the point and relevant.
Thank you Simar! ❤️
"What can be improved ?" This is what grabbed my interest the most . But comparing it to it's competitors in the segment is also a useful one too. ✌🏻
Fair enough! Thanks Dananjey! But to be honest, there aren't any direct competitors to the Super Meteor at the moment
Yes, but with the iron883 gone the super meteor fills a gap left by the Harley in the global market i would say 😄
🖖🏽
I love this format, I’ll tell you why… there are two journalists, one who has ridden the motorcycle one who hasn’t. And we get a taste of both trains of thought. An idea of what a motorcycle might be, and what the motorcycle actually felt like.
Yes! Thank you Vedang for confirming our idea that this would be gold!
I've booked the SM-650, and this was the conversation I was looking for.
Thanks a lot guys and please continue with such good content 👍
Our pleasure! Best of luck Pranav!
Thank you.
Shaurya, thank you! ❤️
This is a brilliant show. I find it fascinating that it tracks with the growth and respect for the Indian M/C industry, overall. Huge respect.
Thank you very much!
Thank you Ajay! Once you do get a test ride and have questions, do not hesitate to ping us (here or anywhere). We will help if we can!
Thank you for the reply. I will reach out to you once I get the opportunity to test drive the Super Meteor. Have a fantastic week ahead guys!
Thanks Prashant! And hope you get your dream ride soon!
Ha! We hasn't thought of that. Good point Donald! Thank you!
Never thought i would listen to two guys who look like a real life motu patlu talking about a motorcycle for whole 30 minutes without any motorcycle in the video. Benchmark for the rest of podcasts and motorcycle youtubers out there. What a class hats off
Motu-Patlu 🤣
Glad you enjoyed the video, Shadab!
QnA is on our radar! The challenge is we want to do it live and in 4K. Much figuring out is going on.
Glad you enjoyed this Pratik!
As Karthik said :"the reason I asked this is to set the expectations here(upper limit) and here (lower)
-It would be better if he said why was he asking that questions in the beginning rather at the end... because if we wanted to come back in the future for "reasearch" it would be easier
Suggestions:
1 If you are going to follow the same format then it would be better to have segments like a) comfort....b)ride handling........c) specs........d) competition price..... Etc and have it displayed on screen for future vehicles so that it's easier to come back to relevant sections in future for repeated watching ( I agree it's not much use for single watch)
2 Please have other media of communication like discord or fb group to crowd source suggestions, ideas for faster feedback rather than waiting for your video and asking feedback there
ie shorter cycle hence more can be achieved
Suggestions for future topic:
Probably a mini series in podcast BIKE DEVELOPMENT (car too)
From inception, design to testing to public road testing, camouflaged sightings to pre release & post release
What is best way to give feedback to manufacturers and when is it too late to make changes in developmental process
This one appears fine! Did you comment something elsewhere? Shumi had this issue a couple of weeks ago too... looks like too many comments or something causes a sort of "suppression" to happen... the algorithm might think it's spam or something
As your comment:
1. It does! See the chapters please. But yes, feedback noted.
2. We respond to 95% of the comments within minutes. The other 5% within a day. So whatever question you have... just post it wherever you like!
3. Suggestion noted! Very good idea!
@@motorinc k thanks for the feedback
Yes it was me

@@motorinc I don't care about it as long as the suggestions got to you
I always get mesmerized whenever you speak so passionately about bikes Shumi! This podcast is a game-changer in the game of "HONEST" bike reviews. Loved the way you set the expectations straight and made people think if Cruiser is really a bike for Indian roads and then come to the review or ideally discussion about the Super Meteor 650. 👏👏
Thank you so much Sanjeev! We're glad you enjoyed this thoroughly! We'll count your vote towards the (large) group that wants to see more of this!
It's cute and a bit funny to see Karthik being a bit afraid of Shumi when he raise his hands before interrupting Shumi and pitching in with his opinion. Respecting your elders is a reflection of your character :D. Jokes aside, loved the video
He's not afraid, he's polite. Unlike Shumi the elder, who just barges ahead with whatever's going on in his head at any moment. 🤣
Thanks KK!
Okay so after watching this for a second time,
1. This was the most comprehensive review of the bike I could find anywhere I was left extremely satisfied and I had all the information I needed
2. This format is perfect to just leave on in the background while I jog or do chores
3. The greatest advantage of the long format is that you could cover almost every base and structure it into segments that i could easily click on in the scroll bar and go to the exact part I wanted
4. this format gets lackluster after a while. It's soothing and informative, but lacks any excitement and flair. I know what the bike made Shumi think but not what it made him feel.
4.1 this reminds me of my childhood where I eagerly awaited my autocar magazine to read about cars i could only dream of, is an article in a podcast
4.2 it really lacks what makes the format of video reviews excellent, the emotion and excitement that's tangible when you do a ride review. I hope to see a pov ride review soon (see Zack courts on Revzilla) I think both the formats have their place
5. Most of these reviews seem to be K asking and shumi giving his opinion, I understand this was the only way to do this particular review, since S had ridden the motorcycle and K hadn't, but still maybe a little more balance would be nice
I hope this helped!
Cheers and lots of love
Eagerly awaiting more content!

Thanks you Shaswat! Glad you enjoyed that. Good suggestion! Can do!
The best!! Nothing to change. It’s like listening to your friend discussing over a hot cup of coffee. Didn’t even realise I spent 39 minutes on super meteor first impression without pictures or short videos…. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Yay! Thank you! That means most of the experiment worked! Cheers Sachin!
Oh Also, love the format and everything on this channel. You guys had me at that MAD TRAILER!

Hey Sigmund! Thanks a lot! ❤️
This is an amazing format of podcasting discussing vehicles weighing their aspirational value and practically like a discussion between friends, I think it covers and conveys things better. Thanks guys for starting this. ❤
Loved this format! A nice mix of both the standard podcast and conversations like this one would be perfect. Cheers!
Awesome! Thank you Danny!

18:47 on my way to work, I have patch of bump on road where I always try use brake to slowdown my Avenger till a point closer to bump & then releasing it just as it touches it, man the bike glides through it. Glad to see an expert & well experienced rider like shumi mentioning this kind of technique.
♥️
Loved this format! Wouldn’t mind having some more of the technical titbits, like the one Kartik San shared about why suspension on cruisers will always be a compromise :)
Hey Ranjan! Thanks for the recommendation! They would be happy to dish it out.
Wow...love this format, content and quality. Privileged to hear this
Much appreciated!
I love how u both weave history and knowledge with ease, leaving us with a rich tapestry of information. Keep revving those engines, can't wait for more!
Thank you so much Deviantv! 🖖🏽
Hey Arun! Thanks for wishing it! You made it happen! Glad we could help grow your perspective. 🙏🏾
We suppose that would make sense when new Ds/Ps arrive. Thanks for the suggestion Vishal!
39:22 minutes of pure Joy. Can't wait for more. Glad motorcyclin conversation is maturing in such a nice way.

Informed, crisp and unbiased. This is the first MotorInc video I'm watching and I feel that our silent concerns have been validated by experts. Loved it. Please continue this format.
Thanks Vivek! Welcome to MotorInc!
Thank you RC! Glad you enjoyed the watch!
Very interesting way to review a bike. Fun and lot of info which are not forced fed to users. Love the format.
Wow! Thanks Prashant!
Loved the balanced perspectives presented here. Went on a 1.5hr drive before watching the video and the observations here tallied with my experience at least. Thanks for doing this! Refreshing to see an objective review in the midst of all the hype and excitement.
Thanks for sharing!
loved the format. This is fresh. I really like it; First talking about a particular segment and setting the context and then getting into the actual product. ❤❤❤
I wish there is a motorcycle engine placed somewhere in the background😅😁.
Awesome, thank you! Good suggestion! Let's see what we can do!
Glad you found that useful Rakesh!
Thanks Dinkesh! 😊
I love this! A real deep dive ❤️
Don't replace the actual ride-review though
Not planned as a replacement at all. Just a better way to process first impressions, we think. Clearly this hit the spot for your Ashwin!
I have absolutely no interest in cruisers, however I still saw the whole video and wasn’t bored. Absolutely love the content put forward by these two.
Great podcast, loved the unfiltered vibes
Would love the same type of podcasts for cars too
Got it! Thanks Paritosh! We will work this out for sure!
loved this conversation. parts that i liked is the technical details of the format and suspension. The part where we expect RE to do something substantially different for a shotgun seemed too optimistic. feel they'd only do few changes like footrest, front rake and flat handle bars.
Thanks Deep! We can hope... 😊
Wonderful episode 💓.
The video today seems to be little different. A little brighter I guess. Anyone else feels the same?
Too sharp you are! The lights/colour correction are always being worked on to make things look even better. Good catch Hrishikesh!
Wow, thank you! Glad you enjoyed that Angad, and yes more planned!
One of the best conversations in the bike segment category. You’ve utilized this space really well and did a great job than everyone else.
Thanks Shiva!
This is how a review should be for all bikes going forward!
Thank you so much Nikhil! ♥️
Thanks for the mini-review Pratik!
We would do something like this in our xBHP G2Gs. I am no longer active on those so miss this kind of discussion. Absolutely love the format, keep it as is.
Hey Anant! Thanks for the 👍🏽! And ❤️
I'm a North American, and I enjoyed this thorough discussion of the Super Metreor, even though it was for an Indian audience and buyer.
And... I also thought that a few graphics to illustrate your points could have helped.
Thanks for the suggestion, Dave! Let us think about it.
This format of review/discussion is such a gem. Like two friends discussing this in middle of the day. I literally plugged this in while working and it was pure bliss!
Couple of things where I think the format can be improved upon
- As this was a first ride review I think that should be mentioned well and what one can notice in first ride and what aspects needs more time to be spent on the seat to conclude.
Let that be there :)
As always, love the new form of content, keep them coming!

This is my opinion after i have rode the KTMs, husky's, x440, tvs's, suzuki and yamaha's.
what is the your usage scenario/purpose?

Please do not change anything about the format as we need this kind of discussion about vehicles and this is also a refreshing approach to discussing a bike/car.
Thank you! 🖖🏽
Welcome back Pritom! We were wondering where you went. Glad you enjoyed it!
i watch all your videos but only the first 15 mins. thats my video watching patience on one topic. nice video😀, learnt some stuff!
So did you finish this one or not? Glad you enjoyed it though!
You 2 have changed channels and have been involved with bikes for a long time. I always thought what if you 2 got together.. I didn't even know if you 2 know each other personally as I don't think there are videos of you 2 out there on the net. To see this is just soo soo fulfilling. Keep it up boys! I am gonna be tuning in to this channel more often.
str8rite1, welcome to MotorInc! You comment means you missed the videos K and S made together at PD and at least one at ZW then!
Please continue the good work. Please summarise the pros and cons at the end. That would have been cherry on top. This is the first honest discussion about any product without flashy visuals or anything. Great job guys
Yes. A summary did go missing... the downside of a flowing conversation we suppose. Good point Aravinth! Thank you!
Wow! Thank you AP! That's one of the best comments in this entire comments' stream. You have made our day! 🙌🏽
Love this conversation ❤. Finally found a channel I can listen to. I am a 90’s kid and this simple format gives me that old vide but with new look.
This is exactly what I needed. I'm so glad to have come across this podcast after so many pointless user reviews. Hope to see more such content in the future.
Thanks Arvind!
Loved the entire episode and I felt that it is a much better format than 6-7 minute first ride impression videos that don't get into these many details. To be more specific, the chapters that i enjoyed the most were : a) Things to look out for when you test ride and b) who is the motorcycle for
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you Indraneel! Anything we could have done to make this even better?
Thank you VR! Best of luck for your Tuono! Shumi has a Tuono, in fact.
Logged-in for work...checking my emails and planning my day ahead with this Podcast of two of my favourite auto-gurus playing along - Perfect start to the day.
Do wanna test ride this bike - though not planning to change my Interceptor 650 anytime soon.
Thank you! Glad to hear that!
Thank you so much Naveen!
I did not know how the 39 mins went..it’s was like me and my friend just sitting and speaking about bikes for hours…this format is good and I liked it 😊
Awesome Deepak! Thank you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🖖🏽
Okay so, 3 important things from this upload:
- Loved this type of format of discussion, very immersive (fastest 40 mins of mine on UA-cam)
- Cruisers and their limitations make total sense now even more actually due to the dive deep in layman's terms
- Thank god (and RE) the 'template' format wasn't overdone in context of further improvement else I personally feel it'd translate to looking like a "Mahindra Mojo" or another Hillbilly from the motorcycling world.
Perfect.
@@motorinc Thank You for the response, Sir/Sirs. I agree with your analysis and opinion.
🖖🏽
Great conversation again. Enjoyed a lot! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Living with an Indian Scout for 5 years. You are so right! Cruisers hurt. They are not that much comfortable. You can live it though, may be and may be not. That depends on the rider.
Ooh! A Scout! Shumi rode one in New Zealand _ages_ ago and loved his time with it!
Honestly, as much as i like listening to Shumi and loved his longer podcasts about riding gear, owning a big bike etc, I would be happier with a 15 review.
"15 review"... we couldn't understand that... help?
@@motorinc 15 min review.
Ah a time problem. Understood! Thank you!
These videos work quiet well .
In these times majority people are focusing primarily on videography and cinematography u guys are putting facts up front
Thank you Jyotiraditya! Glad you enjoyed that!
Kartikeya and Shumi sir, I beg you to keep talks like these regular on MotorInc irrespective of the views and subscriber count. Even as a Yamaha Fanboy, I can watch this on repeat. Priceless
Wow! Thank you Abhishek! What Yamaha do you have?
@@motorinc haha nothing big 2009 Fz16
Early FZs were superb fun though!
