Tropical Storm Beryl update: Latest path, impacts to Texas and Houston

- Beryl continues to move through the Gulf of Mexico as a tropical storm with maximum sustained winds at 60 mph. Strengthening is still expected to happen prior to landfall on Monday morning. The forecast Category 1 hurricane should come ashore near Corpus Christi. FOX 26 viewers near the coast and closer to the projected landfall are currently under a Hurricane Warning because of the expected high winds. Those along the coast will see storm surge of up to 5 feet. A Storm Surge Warning is in effect from Corpus Christi north to Galveston Bay. Everyone in most of the FOX 26 area is under a Flood Watch because of the expected 5-10 inches of rainfall with isolated spots getting 12-15 inches. Sunday should still be relatively quiet, so finish those last minute preparations and settle in for a stormy Monday.

Welp, we'll be getting out of it's way down here in Wharton County! After surviving a tornado that destroyed our ft bend county home in March and still in a rental waiting for repairs- not going to tempt fate with these giant pecan trees overhead.😅

Yes, tornadoes are possible with tropical storms snd hurricane, but no always.

The places that really need rain New Braunfels, San Marcos, Austin will probably see very little to No rain and the areas that don't need rain will get tons of rain lol

Why are people not being told to evacuate? How we know this storm won't pick up steam at the last minute? 😠
Because it's already hit the gulf and warm water. If it was going to pick up steam and form a strong eye, it would have already done so. Instead, it's falling apart even in the warm water. The chances of it picking up steam and becoming a bigger hurricane are low at this point.
It will be at least a cat 2. All the models have been off so far. This is a conservative estimate imo. Rainfall will be heavier than expected

Notice how these meteorologists promised a couple of days a go that this storm would crash into central Mexico and now that it's too late they reveal the real truth - that it's getting closer to Houston. This cruel double cross has driven stress levels sky high. I've actually been driven back to smoking pot. Thanks a lot Mr Meteorologist....

They never did. They said if that hot air stayed the storm wouldn’t go up north and ride along its edge into Mexico, which it was. But guess what? It dissipated and the storm started going north, which they also predicted it would.

That doesn't mean you're safe! You'll feel it. Climate change does weird things. Weather folks don't like including it.

@mike_w-tw6jd It's not the main source, BTW, I believe that's Lake Conroe, but no, it shouldn't. It does provide a sizeable amount of power for surrounding counties. Repairs are ongoing and will be complete before the storm is supposed to hit. The main problem would be from lots of rain north of the dam, and the storm is expected to move northeast fairly quickly. I live in the river basin south of the dam, so I have been watching everything I can find on it. We've been hearing about failures for decades now, but this is the first time they have admitted it. It's also the first time any news source has gotten legit information about it, too.

I don't listen to the local weatherman they give very conservative forecasts. It will be at least a cat 2. The rain will be heavy in the city for 7-8 hours flooding parts of the city.
