  • I can't say enough about this song. I absolutely LOVE it!! Sigrid is quickly becoming a favorite artist of mine.
Welcome to my “Modern Life for the 70's Mind” UA-cam Channel. On this channel, I not only take a look at the songs and history that made us who we are today, but also introduce you to today's modern music as well. Any songs that combine the two are always a winner. I've always loved music and have always tried to keep a balance between the classic music I fell in love with and today's MUCH DIFFERENT sounds. Here's we'll analyze both. We’ll even take some time and revisit some of the old parts of our past that have disappeared from today’s shelves and most people’s memories, I call it Bob's Cabinet of Curiosity. Let’s relive those moments together! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for taking time out of your day to check in. I appreciate it more than I can say here.

Hi Bob, so much fun watching you watch Sigrid sing at the stadium in our beautiful childhood town of Ålesund furthest out to sea in the west of Norway. The recording here is from "Jugendfest" (our local Music Festival) «Jugend» because Ålesund burned down 1904 and was rebuilt in "Jugend style» / Art Nouveau style by Emperor Willhelm who loved to go on holiday here 😉
The video you saw here is the first song in a longer live concert that is completely unique, and impressively well produced and filmed.🤗 After the stadium recording, she holds the concert on the beautiful island of Giske which is located just outside Ålesund. This YT video is very special, I promise 😇 I will add a link at the end here. If you think it will be too long a video to make a reaction video on, you can get a nice shorter taste where she sings the song "level up" while they walk along the beach at Giske.
    Link to "Level up":

    Link to the whole concert:

@@ModernLifeForThe70sMind Thank you Bob, you must prioritize enjoying the music 👍🏻 And have fun. 🥳 And yes Norway is a small country 😉 with many intense disciples online 😂 When it comes to both Aurora and Sigrid, I think you will largely find that many of the live recordings are impressive. And they both often make acoustic stripped down versions of their songs that I often gravitate towards 😊 Are such recordings to a greater extent without barriers to copyright? Performances at YT that are from Nrk (Norwegian state channel) are as I have perceived it often safer to share and without such problems 🤔 Keep up the good work 👍🏻

Great to hear your enjoyment of Sigrid. I’m also a 70s guy (born 1970) but I have been enjoying Sigrid fro some years now. You picked two ballads, in general she is more poppy (and pop rocky in her latest releases). One of her maxims is that a song always needs to sound good on the piano, even if the released version is full of studio production. Indeed she often releases acoustic versions of her songs and I generally prefer these over the studio versions which can sometimes be over produced to my mind and take away a little from her voice. On the other hand she is fantastic live. She has a really tight band and she has so much energy and vocal power. It’s a blast! There are countless fan videos of her concerts as well as a few official ones … Glastonbury, etc.

She is lovely .. thank you! What is it about Norway that so many amazing singers come from there .. is it the Sea that far north? .. does it have a deep musical sound or something unusual from other bodies of water? Without a question, Norway is exceptionally beautiful .. as, it seems, are the artists that call it "home. " I know I'm not the only one with that question .. have you heard or do you have any good answers?

I think free music schools with good (professional) musicians as teachers and the freedom that newer technology gives may have quite a bit with why. And almost all these talented singers are also songwriters and having pretty much full control over how their songs are presented, videoed, produced and how they themselves are presented to the public image-wise. There's a big element of Girl Power in it with less focus on sexy and looks, more on the music and the text. Spice Girls pawed the way and then Norway got Susanne taking it further with refusing to accept the Norwegian version of Grammy awards as best female artist of the year, it should've been best artist of the year - what does my gender have to do with anything ...

There are a few songs that consistently get me at the very least to the edge of tears, this is one of them. That I'm Norwegian and have lived abroad for nearly a decade sure doesn't help. There's another song by a Norwegian artist that consistently bring me to tears, "En Farfar i Livet" by Odd Nordstoga. Given that it's actually *in Norwegian* probably disqualifies it from being reacted to, but the reason it resonates so strongly with me is that I lost both my grandfathers within one year while I wasn't able to travel back home due to... restrictions we've all had to deal with over the past few years. And the song is about an idealised grandfather, a solid, kind, practically minded and generous old soul who was always there from the moment you were born. And I think it's the same kind of thing as with this song by Sigrid. Music that hits you right in the heart, that both sounds and feels real and relatable.

Great reaction to a beautiful song. Check out the studio version as well if you haven't already.
You asked for a song that was perfect in all ways. There are so many very fine songs that really get you in the right mood. There is one by Billy Joel that I really like. It's a music video that probably have been played a lot of times at MTV. It's from 1986. It's called A matter of Trust. I'm sure you now it. I think that it's a really good song , it's fun, you become really glad listen to it and it's fun to see all the common people on the street dancing and enjoying a little break from the normal everyday things. Here's the link to it.

LOve to see your reaction to Sigrid's acoustic songs. I agree, they are just beautiful.
    There's one more I think you'll love, released two weeks ago - 'It's Getting Dark' - ua-cam.com/video/f5B2mfHS-Ao/v-deo.html .

Hi, yep, I'll probably do this song. This particular link doesn't work in the US, but I'm definitely interested in this song. Thanks.

OK Bob. May I suggest "SUCKER PUNCH " SIGRID, a excellent live performance from a UK BBC TV show around 3/4 years ago? ua-cam.com/video/6MVhAZNC4wE/v-deo.html and for ANGELINA JORDAN, this is "FEELING GOOD " also a live version on a TV show , aged 10, ua-cam.com/video/p8kAL-sGJx8/v-deo.html with band brass/strings as we say in the UK it's a cracker.

I'll work on "Feeling Good". Maybe since it's an older video, it won't get blocked like my other one have. Hoping in 30 days that at least some of those get unblocked. Keeping fingers crossed. Thanks.
