There was another show after this called Game For A Laugh, then after that was Beadle's About. It was presented by Jeremy Beadle. He sadly died in 2008. Catch all of them on UA-cam or wherever. This comment is for Americans and Canadians.
I grew up watching Candid Camera in the US and now I'm just discovering the UK version. To me, the eloquent British way of speaking makes the stunts even better!
Me too, good ol' days. I had a little Morris Minor like that one. Maroon it was. "Pull the starter" brought back memories. Loved that little car, she was already old who I owned her in 1980. Time flies.
I take my hat off to the driving instructor, he has such calmness under a trying situation, great show, used to watch this every week, here in England.
I was hoping that the instructor would get into the driving seat, then the people whose cars had been hit would arrive and kick up a fuss. Then the bloke being taught would blame the driving instructor 😂
That instructor said he’d been teaching driving lessons for 40 years. After today’s disastrous lesson, I’m sure he was thinking about retirement. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Many, many years ago I was a Driving Instructor in Toronto & I had a certain nationality lady that had gone through something like 50 driving lessons previously & a half dozen or so Instructors. Being young & invincible, I figured I would give it a shot. My first clue that she was going to be a problem was when I told her to drive straight through at a traffic light. Even though the light was red she was going to do just as I had told her & drive straight through. My next clue was when I told her to turn right at the next traffic light & she turned left, crossing 3 lanes of traffic, & having a bus come screeching to a stop just inches from my side of the car. After that I refused to take her out anymore, drove her home & told her after 50 lessons she was a menace on the road & to take the bus. She told me she always gets her left & right mixed up & then proceeded to complain to the Mayor, Ministry of Transport, The Better Business Bureau, you name it. - True story.
The Instructor tries so hard to stay calm, but the other guy is relentless in wearing him down. He keeps chipping away at his composure by making him repeat himself and coming out with random comments about the car's tyres etc. A masterclass in passive aggression and so so funny!

Yes, I'm English and used to love them. But the original US ones had some absolutely brilliant ones as well. I particularly remember one where a guy was waiting for a NY taxi outside his house with his golf clubs, and his wife was with him, made to look 9 months pregnant. When the unsuspecting cab driver(s) arrived, the man was arguing with his 'wife'. He was saying, listen, this is my taxi, you get your own. Sunday is MY golf day, you know that. She said, but I've got to get to the hospital, the baby's coming. I don't care, it's my golf day, you know that, call another taxi. What do you think, Mack? asking the taxi driver. The look on the faces of several different hard-boiled Noo York cab drivers was magic. 😂😂😂
@PeterSmith-bj4ml yes Were excellent. US.... I think candid camera started there...... Am still watching Away from today world Thanks Wising you well 2025 Ps Can't beat the golden year's back then
A classic yes , but why does it "Cut off" so quickly ? I would have loved to see the instructers reaction when he was told about "Candid Camera" anyone know why it finished like it did ?
I mean that instructor is a bit of a drip with his come in me old son when the man can't drive. Then gets back in the car to let him try again when he has already hit one car. I hope he was never an examiner!
old man goes: don't you think its about time you stop hitting other peoples cars the joker goes: ya it would be a good idea, i hit 2 over the weekend. hahahahaha. loooool.
@@coecludd hi I can tell you it was filmed in Chelsea London I think between 19 72 to 19 73. I was assisting a car parking into a garage in Langton street Chelsea I it was a guy with blond hair and a female assistant
This rhyme do I need to learn this ? Every word of this sir you must really know. how to do the rest sir that you need to show, Just one of our little bits of rubbish to fill up a page that's all, just a piece of poetry P.M.S.L ..Arthur Atkins was a gemius wind up !! Ha ha ha
Candid Camera should have had several more cars positioned on the street for him to have his demolition derby. After the instructor with 40 years experience has to deal with that, then the driver tells him he found his learner's permit/drivers license in the street. He would have retired on the spot. ;)
Love these characters but that Instructor would be in serious trouble these days for allowing a pupil to hit other cars due to such inadequate tuition.
Please note that I will sharing some very rare UK Candid Camera pranks weekly on my channel over the next few months. Please subscribe and enjoy 😊🎥
Do you have the clip of this driving instructor being told he's on Candid Camera, I'd love to see that.
Thanks Coecludd, they are all great
Absolute brilliant. Miss watching these clips

The old “ moggy thousand “ .... this was excellent! 👍
This is why the UK was so special
"don't you think it's about time you stopped hitting other people's cars ?" Brilliant !

It’s a shame the parasite elite have sabotaged the west since
Hilarious. I love the instructors patience. Great clip altogether
such a calm, unflustered instructor. incredible.
That instructor ... patience of a saint. Bloody hilarious.
Not patient at all, just an incredibly bad driving instructor. I do like him though.
So bloody funny from a bygone era when life was much simpler and we could laugh at ourselves.
Very true,,The Instructor would sue the producers, claim untold thousands of pounds,, because of the "stress" it caused him, what has become of us?
I couldn’t agree more! ☹️
Love the rag over the lens
They were wiping a window in a vehicle where this was being filmed.
I love seeing old clips with NO MOBILE PHONES!!!!
The instructor is so calm, charming chap.
Yes, but he was gradually starting to lose it...
He’s unreal he has to ask to see the guys car insurance mot and his his provisional licence.. before the lesson not after he’s bashed a car..
“Isn't it about time you stopped hitting other cars? Sir” 😂
I hit two over the weekend! 😂😂😂
He hits two cars before the instructor says, "I think I should show you what to do!" - Can you just imagine that nowadays? - Priceless!
Fun to see regular people in the UK, in those days. I miss the old days.
Me too, good ol' days. I had a little Morris Minor like that one. Maroon it was. "Pull the starter" brought back memories. Loved that little car, she was already old who I owned her in 1980. Time flies.
Brought back a lot of memories! Good Ole days.
Hahaha !! wounderfull !!
When we called Britain England !!!
They certainly don't make them like this anymore brilliant classic

Make Sure You Don't Hit That Car Behind .BANG. Priceless.
So brilliant
The instructor was a Legend 😂👍🏻
"May I get the car away from here for you Sir ?"
Priceless.
He wanted to get away.
Don't worry sir. Nothings going to happen! Famous last words.
"Will you sit in, Sir, Please?"
"This tyre..."
"Oh, mum!"
Thankyou for sharing these what a laugh they used to be 🤣
"Don't worry me old lad. Get in and show me what you can do."
Love this and all the other Candid Cameras. What a *loody nightmare for the instructor!! 😆😆😆 Hilarious!

Still funny! Omg, this wouldn’t fly today. So patient. He’s thinking this is gonna be a long day.

40 years of that, and not a grey rib. A special breed indeed.

He's probably thinking, "Oh, bloody hell, I finally got the ultimate idiot!!!!
Love that siren at 8:00
Great British humour from a bygone age, much more humorous than the American equivalent.
The instructor started out so confident, then fell apart
Life without mobile phones! Heaven ❤
I used to love Candid Camera! This video is great, many thanks for posting!
Hi ya
Yes and real , no caned laugher
The nervous driver looked like Quint out of Jaws
I think the instructor has basically given up on life.... hilarious!
"You hit that one an' all Sir" deadpan
"I found a driving licence" sounds like this is what happened to many of the drivers on the road.
"Dont worry, nothin's gonna happen, we've all got to start from somewhere"
Make sure you don’t hit that car behind you....you have hit the car behind you!
I'm not surprised I've just him two I hit two at the weekend as well 😂

I can't even write this comment I'm laughing that much 😅😅😅😅😅😅when he hit the 2nd car 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I know. I just can't stop laughing! Tears are streaming from my face. It seems so mundane and banal, but it is amazingly funny. I can't explain it.
Pity we don't see the bit when he says .. "Smile you're on Candid Camera"
Absolutely hilarious 😂
Nice patient instructor.
"Drivings a piece of cake?" ... "Yeah!" then chaos ensues, lol!
A classic yes , but why does it "Cut off" so quickly ? I would have loved to see the instructers reaction when he was told about "Candid Camera" anyone know why it finished like it did ?
Men’s wigs certainly weren’t what they are today back then! Dear god it’s like wearing a loaf of bread on his head!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
That is hilarious!!
"..I thought you had the hand brake on" ...lol
Instructor had 40 years experience? What , at bumper cars laddie?
And he’s got a hay loft sitting on top of his noggin ! Bad toupee!
Toupee? Ive gotta look again..i thought he had good style.
I thought you had the handbrake on.
No wonder driving instructors have nervous breakdowns.

Those poor Morris Minors getting all banged up for a laugh.... it's criminal that is.
If I had a funky car like that I would be the star of the show on the down town cruise
Blimey, the instructor is thinking about the 1st lesson report he will turn in to the office. Oh vey! At least he’s natally dressed
Not to worry, me old mucker!
The instructor should have noticed that it was in reverse gear at the start and checked his licence before even starting the car.
He was a calm but rather inept instructor.
Don't you think it's about time we stopped hitting other people's cars?? (Nah, let's keep at it!)
The patients of a saint
Only if the saint is a doctor.
That person repeatedly wiping the window!
Thats a fine rag they usin to keep window clear for the camera
Is that his real hair?
The days driving was a pleasure and not like today a money making machine for the treasury

Yes he would. 🚗
I'm a bit sceptical, because no driving instructor would start a first time learner from between two cars. Never, not even n the 60s.
He’s supposed to have a license per the instructors comment towards the end
What year was this programe aired? It looks to
be about 1970.
1974 (these colour episodes) The originals with Bob Monkhouse were mid 60s
I think that it was 1970. I first saw this on a VHS video in 1981, and it looked old even back then!
Why didn’t he tell him he was being filmed at the end ?
