What are your favorite mental health tips?

Great tips, like them all, especially the 'get social' - part (being with a small group of family or friends), because that has saved me many times and is the best distraction for me, even when I'm severly depressed and initially want to be alone. I think it's also important that people know that we can never be perfect, we're all perfectly flawed haha. The not so pretty sides of you are also worth it.

My favourite mental health tip is that life isn't always happy. Don't expect it to be, so don't chase fleeting happiness, rather find things that are meaningful to you and chase those instead.

I’m realizing now that a lot of my mental health/imbalanced life came from not having a friend circle that I consistently turn to. And I tried to make up for that with some repetitive behaviors that really didn’t give me what I needed. I guess I’m just trying to figure out what I enjoy now and it’s been a cool process of self-discovery, even better having a Christian therapist!

A old friend of mine who is not my friend anymore once told me “whenever you feel depressed/ anxious/ like giving up look at your hands. At the end of the day you do a lot with them, use them throughout the day think about what they have touched” well I can’t remember exactly everything he said but he said something like that. And ever since it’s stayed with me.

Animals are another great tool! I rescued an adorable pit bull in August and as hard as it's been to help her work through her past abuse it's been so rewarding and just as good for me as it has been for her! I rarely have been as proud in my life as I am of her. It's only been 3 months but she's already a totally different dog! She's helped my sleep too and brings me out of getting stuck on my bed in hard moments when she literally gets in my face.

These are all so important. I'm trying to get my anxiety down because I ran out of refills and its so high that I can't seem to calm down. I've been feeling like I'm in a dream, like nothings real and I'm so lightheaded and anxious AF. I just want to stay inside and wait until I can get to my doctor again. So shaky too. I hate this. The only thing that's gotten me to somewhat calm down is I learned how to finger knit. I had some chunky loopy yarn and made a scarf. That only worked for like an hour though. Then I ran out of yarn. So my favorite tip is find something you can give all your focus to. Even if its just an hour. It still helps.

Mental health tip for people with depression : get moving. You don’t have to work out or go for a walk, even that can feel like too much a lot of the time. But if you find yourself in bed in the middle of the day, do something that distracts you from all the feelings inside, and after like half an hour get up. Even if you move to the couch. Change the scenery around you, go sit outside if you have a garden or a balcony. Being in a different place will help your mind get unstuck as well.

    1. Put yourself in the shoes of others before acting out of emotion.
    2. Nothing is more important than your mental well-being, take time for yourself and do something that brings happiness to you.
    3. Instead of relying on old information that you learned as lets say as a kid, go out and re-learn things that you are loyal too. Religion, Politics, Hobbies, even random facts, because you will be surprised to find out a lot of information embedded in your brain from an early age is either out-dated by modern society standards, or has been proven to be true or not.

I have been inpatient probably 20-30 times sinse i was 11 years old. A lot of the coping skills are the same, new treatments such as DBT and such do come out. My favorite Mental health tip is having a support system even though i believe it is the hardest to maintain for a long time. In this day and age i enjoy connecting to groups such as your you tube channel and vloging on my own to try to build a community where people can talk and help each other out even if its in a comments section.

I’m 19 and I don’t have any family or friends. I’m also pretty broke, my therapist is fortunate and kind enough to donate his time to me. Any tips?

I like this show/channel so far. 3rd video deep. Tho, I’m not big into a majority of the things I’ve learned about psychology. And it’s use and application or misuse and misunderstandings on my loved ones including myself (from a newly spiritual place I say that last part.). If I had to contribute any tips it would be to go with your instincts and gut feelings when trying to help a friend in serious need... especially if you recognize and are recognized often by others as an empathic person... you probably already feel and no what to do.*
*sorry to say that if u have been diagnosed with any schizophrenia type differences in behavior... I’m not so sure that applies and also I’m not a medical dr. Just thoughts n tips.

MUSIC! Find various music that moves you, some that access sadness, some happiness, some motivation, some inspiration, make playlists for your felt need. I tell clients, there are interests that help, but maybe it remains untapped, unexplored and needs "beefing up". I love music, try playing something! try a new genre, explore the history of a song, go to LVIE MMUSIC venues. Watch documentaries on bands or artists who inspire or connect with you! If exercise, ya you do a bit, but have you joined a club? a race? a online community? Go on vacation and do a new sport! See? sometimes we just listen to radio, if we feel like it, or occasionally go for a walk.

First people create and keep up certain mental problems, taking benefit by meds, therapy, facilities and most importantly, less competition on monetary and love life😢
