Brilliant video though my thoughts are that it is a sad sight to see so many hst power cars going for scrap even though many of them were re engineered by Brush Traction and re engined with more efficient and reliable MTU 16V 4000 power units much better than the Hitachi class 800/801/802 units that replaced them on GWR and LNER to my mind a criminal waste of a perfectly good design that to my thoughts were far from life expired 😮
I agree, it’s a shame to see them go, especially since many are still operational and there are a lot of spare power cars to keep them running. Thanks for watching :)

Caption for 180 isn't quite correct I'm afraid, it was involved in quite a bad fatality in 2019 (during the early days of the slam door castle sets) and didn't return to service after that.
I am fully aware of the aforementioned accident, however due to the fact that this is intended to be a pleasant viewing experience, as well as the fact that the power car itself did not receive any damage, I have chosen not to mention the fatality.
43180 was involved in a collision with a run away 37113 so technically yes it was involved in an accident but the damage was fully repaired way back in August 1996! There are photos of the damage on Flickr. As for your technicality I agree with the reply made by the poster of this vid and respect the privacy of the deceased and their family regardless of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
@Edd Herring I worked for BR&ScotRail from 86 Waverley, which was my home depot. I was on my break when the 37 ran away from the platform. I know the HST driver we used to work parcel train up to Aberdeen.
It’s a Mk1 GUV (General Utility Vehicle/Van) and it used to be used to transport general goods. It was used for spares but has been abandoned by the staff at Laira.
Hard to watch - with the FGW days gone and seeing these remnants of it. HST (and MK3 coaches) never looked better than in FGW livery - far better than the blue-drab GW use now.
The FGW power car livery is just blue all over, and the lower yellow border curving around the lights looks poor. I can think of many better liveries, particularly those used by British Rail.
Thank you to everyone for watching! The level of support this video has received is unbelievable!

It was filmed in mid-November

Any ideas when laria's last 3 F2F Power cars are leaving?
FGW
Unfortunately not, the best bet is to check timetables regularly and look for the TOC ‘Rail Operations Group’

@@nkt1 I was thinking more of the look of the whole train than just the power car - HST as a train not just as power car. But, to each their own.
I prefer the current green livery. For both versions it would have been interesting to see what it would look like with no yellow panels
