I own a 2021 cx-5 and a cx-9 and think they're great although a little lacking in the technology area compared to the competition. The cx-70 seems more up to date. Great review of a beautiful vehicle by a beautiful lady!
My wife and I own both a 2023 CX-5 and a 2023 CX-9 and we love them. I expect to trade my CX-9 in a couple of years and I'm currently thinking the CX-70 will be my next car. I’m keeping my 2015 CX-5 with 198K miles as a backup (trade-in value near $zero!), after my 2025 CX-70 PHEV (in Melting Copper Metallic, Greige leather interior) arrives in 2 weeks. I’ll report back my impressions…
@@eddiew.6485 I know, right?! All the Nappa leather colors are BMW clones. That’s why I went with the nondescript “Greige leather” interior (*not* Nappa), so I wouldn’t have another black/black Mazda like my CX-5 (a Sport w/ M/T, which was only available back in ‘15 as black or white with black cloth interior).
P.S. To get any modern/new vehicle w/o a black int. requires a “special order” from Germany (my 2001 BMW 3-series with CLOTH and not “pleather”-plastic faux “leather” int.), or from Mazda in Japan (incoming CX-70 PHEV Premium in Melting Copper Metallic/Greige int.)!
The 39 miles of electric range threw me off. That's 13 more than Mazda's estimate. A vehicle that size getting close to 40 miles of EV range is very impressive. That's close to what you get on a much smaller RAV4 Prime.
Yeah, I’m counting on the 26, and not 39 miles. 39 would be more than the 35 electric-only range of the (way more costly) 455hp Volvo XC60 Recharge T8 or even the 38 miles of the CRA-CRA expensive BMW X5 xDrive45e or xDrive50e PHEVs!
P.S. The Toyota RAV4 Prime gets its 40+ miles electric-only range in part from its 1-sp A/T and eAWD drivetrain (I call CVTs 1-speed automatic trannies because-they are that. Manufacturers that use them indiscriminately (Nissan) or selectively (Lexus/Toyota) HATE it when I do that. Reason enough to troll!
A small correction: technically, it’s a mid-size SUV (as are its pricier competitors like a 2024 BMW X5 45e and 2024 Volvo XC60 Recharge T8). If you want a FULL-size SUV, you step up to such behemoths as the Cadillac Escalade/XL, Chevy Suburban/GMC Yukon XL or the big Ford Expedition/Excursion. Yikes!
