These videos of local guys fishing the northern beaches inspired me to gear up and hit the surf, just two months ago. I Had my doubts after several trips, but then I fished North Salmon two weeks ago, and finally had some luck. I caught a 12" redtail on the Calissia, my first cast and then caught nine total keepers, largest was 13.5 others were 11 or better. Can't wait to hit that same tide again... first light Friday 8/25/23...
Yeah Perch fishing is a lot of fun! Make sure to use triangle weights so they don't move much out in the surf and also plastic sand worms work perfect.
@@RedwoodFish cool, thanks for the tip! I was using a round weight and the current took it away. I also need heavier weights now. I'm looking forward to going back. Yes...it was fun! 😎
That rock just south of the 2 driftwood tents - I fish the north side of it often lotsa depth perch, baby halibut & a sculpin 2 days ago. Funny Im in W Santa Rosa & its 30 min for me too. Coleman valley rd.
I love that beach. I used to go pretty often. What kind of boat do you guys run out to Bodega from? I’m thinking of running my 17 foot Lund out of the harbor.
We have a 20 foot reinell and it works great as long as its semi-calm. You'll be fine just check the swells, winds etc... go on calm days and you'll kill it! Good luck!
What were you using for bait I live in County I finished watching video I see it was gulp maybe run into you sometime out there on one of our waterways good luck with your UA-cam channel
Gulp sand worm and soft shell sand crabs are great for Perch and even stripper.. Fisherman's Life, Ish with Fish and More then Fishing are UA-camr's from SF area, they are informative and show how easy it is to get Sand Crabs (free bait!) Get to the coast and get some fishing in!
You got me hooked.. Subscribed.. Keep it up!

@@RedwoodFish Thanks for great content... and the inspiration.
I went here today to scope out the beach. I usually go to Doran Beach jetty, but I want to try the beach fishing now. Cheers....

can't wait to see your crabbing videos crabbing and fishing catch cook out
Cool but nice perch!!
Can you do crab snaring here ?
Occasionally I see a crab in the surf but the water is so rough it would be difficult to crab snare on that beach area.
