  • In our week of testing the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado LT Trail Boss with the Duramax turbodiesel under the hood, we/I fell in love. But this is not a perfect vehicle and in this video, I highlight the top 5 things I really liked and the top 5 annoyances of this best-selling full-size pickup truck from Chevy.
    Likes:
    - Engine/transmission: The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 Trail Boss comes equipped with a Duramax Diesel engine that delivers excellent fuel economy, strong power, and towing capabilities. The smooth shifts make for a seamless driving experience, and the transmission never hunts for gears.
    - Interior & Tech: The interior of the Trail Boss is loaded with features, including large screens, an optional massive HUD, and a customizable gauge cluster. The technology is cutting-edge, providing an exceptional driving experience.
    - Seats/under-seat storage: The seats are comfortable, heated, and perfect for long drives. The back seat easily folds up and can hide suitcases, making it a versatile choice for long trips.
    - Size: The Silverado is a towering truck that has room for five people. The size of the truck makes it perfect for towing and hauling, and it looks impressive on the road.
    - Off-road ability: The Trail Boss is very capable and can handle rough terrains with ease. It has a good approach/departure angle, a 2” factory lift, and Goodyear Wrangler tires, making it an excellent off-road option.
Honorable mentions: Running boards and remote start add convenience and practicality to the vehicle.
    Dislikes:
    - Gear selector/center console: The gear selector and center console design could be improved. Many drivers prefer a column shifter, and Ram has a better-designed center console.
    - Sunroof selection: The Trail Boss does not have a panoramic sunroof, which is a feature found in some of its competitors, such as the Ford, Ram, and Toyota.
    - No rear center armrest: The absence of a rear center armrest makes it difficult for passengers to get comfortable in the back seat. To get an armrest, you have to upgrade to leather, which is not ideal for all drivers.
    - Size: While the size of the Silverado Z71 Trail Boss is an advantage in many ways, it can be challenging to park and may not fit in some garages.
    - Price tag: The price of the Trail Boss is steep, and for nearly the same price, you could get a Tundra TRD Pro. Some drivers may want more options at this price point.
Overall, the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 Trail Boss with the Duramax Diesel is an impressive truck with a lot of features that make it a great option for off-road adventures and long drives. While there are some areas for improvement, such as the gear selector/center console and the price tag, the Trail Boss is still an excellent choice for those who want a capable and comfortable truck that can handle any challenge.

I believe he was referring to each mode of action not long term reliability.

You’d be surprised what shortcomings we can uncover in a week of testing.

A great looking truck. I also don't like running boards and will replace them with rock sliders that are heavy duty. I also don't car for that black blob on top of the hood. Looks like it will cut down on your forword visibility while driving.

The black hood addition is not my favorite either, but it’s not too obtrusive from behind the wheel.

    2023 is the LZ0, not the LM2.

Dont like the black power dome (looks cheesy), overall look of the truck is sporty which i like but the wood grain interior ruins the sporty look and just looks horrible in my opinion, the mpg is good but since diesel is so much more expensive than 87 it is kinda irrelevant.

Torque/MPG /longevity more than makes up for 50 cents per gallon

Not in our one week with one. Our good friend Tim Esterdahl at Pickup Truck +SUV talk had a high country with this engine for a year and has several in-depth videos on the engine performance and maintenance.

Even though they both have the Duramax name, they are two different designs.

Might as well spend a little more and get the Rebel

I think I like this one better. But that Rebel has long been on my “want list”
