You know, i'm liking these Triumphs more and more every time i see them. the sound is epic , the bob is clean.the lock box is an awesome touch. Beautiful job guys. Keep up your good work.
Thank you for the kind words on this build! Our customer could not believe how we transformed his well worn Triumph ... he is probably our biggest fan and can never say enough about this bike!!!
I own a 2002 Tirumph Bonniville American. I've had it since 2004. Its a fantastic bike. Triumph is really makeing some great bikes. Great bikes in. They ride good, low maintenance, and it hard to beat their looks. Triumph always have made a good looking scooter. I'm an old HD ridet, and still have my 75FL but I find myself useing this more. As for the bobber. Thats a great looking scoot. I like the old school tail lite. Yhe pipes are perfect, and like you I had the headlite bucket powder coated black. Give the bike an older, more classic look.
That exhaust note has a great "bark" to it. Just yesterday, I took a new 2013 Triumph Speedmaster for a short ride. It's like no other Triumph I've ever ridden (smooth and smoother). I love those machines! Ride safe -- W
Thank you Brother! We too were quite surprised at how nice these bikes are to ride ... you'll see what I mean when you go down the road on one ... they have definitely come a long way and in the right direction!!!
Hi Barebones. Yeah, I've read The Horse for years. I dig that mag because it freatures choppers that are built around metric bikes. I never owned a Triumph (I built and rode four H-D choppers). However, with the advent of tne new (smooth and reliable) 865cc engines, I see a Triumph America (or Speedmaster) in my future. Thanks for the reply and the boss machine! Ride safe -- W
Thank you for checking her out and for the positive feedback - she did turn out really nice ... our client could not believe it was the same bike he had brought to us a few months prior!
Thank you Thomas - we appreciate your comments and your taste in bikes! Many of the Triumph purists out there do not appreciate what we did to this bike ... not realizing what she looked like when our customer brought her in (she had been hacked-up & badly neglected by the previous owner)!
Thank you, Bro! Our customer purchased this bike with the pipes already on there ... we are not sure of the make but then are stainless steel and had no baffles. We retro-fit baffles in them - they do sound pretty incredible (this video does not really do the sound of this Triumph any justice)! Thanks for checking her out man!
Thanks for the feedback and the note! We sanded the Chrome tank panel then hit with epoxy primer and then a hot rod urethane matte black and then PPG matte clear coat - turned out nice! When our customer purchased the bike, the stock ignition was already removed - we found a low profile ignition switch as was able to install it without much difficulty (just make sure you have a wiring diagram to go by!).
Thanks for the comment Walt - yes, our customer loves his new ride. So much so that he wrote a letter in to The Horse biker magazine and got his letter with some pics of his freshly transformed Triumph America published in the Balk-Talk section (see Sept 2013 issue)!
Hey Joshua ... thank you for your note. Send us an email when you get a chance and we'll share everything we can about this build. This was a customer's bike and he brought it to us with some of these parts in hand. joseph@barebonerides(dot)com
Hey there, thank you for checking her out and leaving us some positive feedback! Our customer absolutely loved how this custom bobber turned out - he was like a little kid opening gifts at Christmas! We also feel she turned out to be a very cool bike! Thanks again! BBR
Thanks man!!! Yes, our customer could not believe how beautiful she turned out ... considering her condition when he brought her to our shop!!! You can see some before and after shots of this build (and ALL of our builds) on our website!
Thank you for the feedback man! We fabricated the gun safe in house ... everything we do is custom for each bike ... so, we would need to have the bike in the shop to remake another tank as we do not keep the dimensions or plans. Which is why each of our builds is unique ... sorry Daniel! If you know of a pretty good metal fabricator locally, they could build this for you without much difficulty but, they would need the bike to take measurements!
Thought I would include a P.S. Triumph is trying hard to get a dealership network up and running like HD. But it has a ways to go. So getting regular maintenance parts can be a pain, and a goodly ride to a dealership for parts. Last time I bought an oil filter, I had to drive a 100 miles round trip, and that filter cost some good change. So I found a different source. Napa. I took the box the Triumph filter came in to Napa and they matched it to one of their, crush washers and all. The filter is blue instead of chrome, but I spray paint them black. Filter, and paint under ten bucks and I live four miles from Napa. While I'm on this subject, I can direct to a coarse of less expensive chain. Look up a source of industrial chain. They can match up your chain perfectly. Again, the cost is pennies on the dollar compared to the dealership.
Thanks for the note, Lee - the purists tend not to like our creations. Unfortunately, due to the condition of many of the bikes that come to us, it is far more economic for us (or the customer) to turn these machines in to something custom vs. restoring back to original specs! We sincerely appreciate your thoughts!
I think the only thing I'd change out-right on the Speedmaster is the fork cups (extending upwards from the lower sliders). I'd install rubber gaitors. I don't care for the wheels on the Speedmaster, either. I like the wheels on the '09/'10 America models. Ride safe. Best -- W
I think the '03 Americas and Speedmasters are the best looking Triumphs out there. I have seen some bad ass "Bobberized"'03-05 Speedmasters as well. If done well they are even hotter....
Seek first to understand, then to be understood ... if you check out our website, you will understand why we did what we did to this bike when our customer brought her in ...
Hey Reid, thank you for checking out this build and congrats on what sounds like a new Triumph America! Please send us a note at joseph@barebonerides.com and we can get in to some details regarding your bike ... we try not to discuss finances on this platform! BBR
Thanks for the note, Steven! If you can, send us an email through our website and we'll provide as much information as we can on the exhaust set-up ...
Thank you for checking out this build, Matt. Our customer brought us the bike with those pipes already installed - they had the baffles removed and we think they were stock pipes from Triumph that had been shortened slightly. We installed a longer baffle (no longer available) we found on ebay - they worked out really well and yes, sounded great. Just wish we could find them again ... no luck. Sorry man!
@@barebonerides thanks for the info. I love a loud set of pipes but straight throughs sound hollow and poppy. Ive been toying with the idea of buying baffles and exhaust packing material and making a set. Think ill give it a go 👍🏻
@@Fortlox_ Hey Matt - if you want, I can email to you a photo of the baffles we used. I looked on ebay again with no luck but, the photo will give you a batter idea of what helped to make our build sound so good. Our email is joseph@barebonerides.com ... thank you!
I got a question for ya if you don't mind. Are the wheels the same size as stock? And where did you get the white-walled tires? I've been looking for some for my America but haven't had much luck.
Dennis Chaves Hey Dennis - yes, we are pretty sure these were the stock wheels (our customer purchased the bike in South Florida and other than some chopping and neglecting by the previous owner, we think he left the wheels alone). The tires on the bike now are Dunlop K177 WW 120/90H-18 on the Front & Dunlop K555 170/80H-15 WW on the Rear. Hope that helps man - you can likely find these tires at the Motorcycle Superstore!
Yes, the motor was painted with some detail work on the fins and hardware to maintain some contrast. For engine paint, we use the Eastwood two part urethane satin black heat paint - looks awesome and is tough. You will need a paint gun and compressor to use that paint though ... helps if you have some experience with automotive spray painting. Good luck with your bike and thank you for checking out this build!
Hey Anthony - our customer purchased the bike with the seat just laying on the frame (it was a pretty perfect fit - just had to fabricate/weld some permanent seat mounts) - it was just in horrible condition so we had it recovered with an alligator based vinyl and new foam ... honestly, we are not sure what make this seat was ... sorry man!
Zone Television These bars were already on the bike when our customer brought her in ... not exactly sure what type they are ... they are similar to super-bike styled bars with a bit more rise and a bit more pull-back.
Zone Television Try Niche Cycle Supply's website (they are here in Florida - we order a lot of stuff from them) and do a search on " 1" Superbike Chrome-Dimp" - these may work for you and if not, they carry lots of other 1" bars! Good luck man!
barebonerides thank you for video.... the motorcycle is great, the exhaust is very agressive, i didn't say that i don't like the bike, of course he is great, just my opinion, nothing more: if the bike would be designed for 2 persons, it was be perfect.

Can never get enough of listening and looking at that bike. One of the sexiest Triumphs I've ever seen.

It's great to see bobbers/choppers built around the newer engines.

Looks good and sounds awesome. I thought my Triumph America sounded good, but this is the best sounding one I have heard.

what did you paint the chrome tank panel with ?

sweet bike man!! i have a 2013 Speed master, having trouble finding exhausts for it though. did you fab those or buy them from a catalogue?
That exhaust sounds fantastic. What exhaust is that? It doesnt sound hollow at all.
Just wish we could find them again ... no luck. Sorry man!
