The punchline came from the autistic. It’s an illusion that we don’t have a sense of humor.
Many times I listen to comedians think “they are just autistic and telling awkward truths that make people uncomfortable enough to laugh .”

One of the dearest, most wonderful people in my life is autistic & we laugh Every time we talk...& we do a video call nearly every morning. She is HILARIOUS &, hey, I'm a goofball, so we get up to verbal shenanigans to be sure.

What really throws NT’s for a loop is when us who often seem very sombre and solemn say something amusing. They don’t see it coming, especially with how outright blunt we can be with it, adding to the effect. A few years back, (I forgot the exact context) but an acquaintance of mine said something along the lines of “cut it” and I interjected in a deadpan manner “American doctors when a boy is born:”
The look on their face was priceless.
Dark or otherwise surprising humour delivered in a dry manner is something I am quite good at.

I’m autistic but my sister is neurotypical. I nickname her my “neurotypical translator and negotiator”. It saves me unneeded stress from social interactions that are difficult for me. Thankful for her.

I've helped out my autistic friend with "official" emails & stuff, like telling her what would be clearer or "properly" framed or w/e. She opens my eyes to a lot of stuff I wouldn't ever notice or consider...plus we're a couple of goofballs who laugh like ninnies a Lot, so it seems to be a good combo!

As an autistic person, Who is 6' 1", 240 pounds, and broad as the side of a barn, my 5' 6" wife is my Aspie whisperer. So truly saves me from so many unwanted, social interactions by speaking for me or taking charge and I love it.

You're not as broad as a barn. 240 isn't big, and 6'1" isn't very tall, or did you mean 340? I'm 5'10" and 240, but I wear size 32 jeans and large shirts. No one would ever think of me as "broad".

@@aarong8457 That isn’t even remotely true for me. Just because you are small once again, I’m not small. I am well above average in size. I’m very broad in the shoulders, above average in height, and by your own account, you are not as big as me. Just because you disagree with how I described myself, doesn’t mean you are right. Never underestimate how strangely amusing we can be in retail spaces.
I myself once walked into a petrol station to get a pie and some other things, and was dead silent up until I reached the checkout. Nobody was in the room at the time but myself and the cashier. The entire time, I had a natural sombre resting face. Then upon reaching the counter, I quoth “good eve, fair merchant! How dos’t the night find thee?”
And after gathering my things, transaction completed, I yelled “QUICK! TO THE GOTHMOBILE!” And moved at great speed to my vehicle, cackling in a triumphant manner as my various flowing black clothes blew about behind me.
I enjoy making people’s days just a bit more surreal now and then.

U are totally funny qndcthis made ne laugh Ur wife did nothing wrong but the store did by saying they need a due date cause as long as a customer is buying stuff why would they care about wether she is pregnant or not in the first place. The way the store people acted makes no sense ur wife by the way totally did but I would still feel weird accepting a basket of baby stuff even though I have non verbal learning disorder which is similar to high functioning autism. Like if the woman gave me the basket I would say no thanks so she could give it to someone who needs it for real instead of wasting it on me.

why would the wife still be wearing the swimsuit at the time of checkout ? and why would she get a swimsuit that was so tight it somehow made her look pregnant. and if she wasnt fat a tight swimsuit is not gonna make her look pregnant enuf for a cash register to actually think she is gonna have a baby.
and no company gives gifts to pregnant ladies . cuz everybody would be claiming they are pregnant just to get free stuff whether they looked pregnant or not.... i also never heard of this policy... and it didnt make me chuckle even once . and none of this had any relation to autism....
