been following the outages via Panay News. Great reporting Ginno. KOKO, your AF vet friend from Texas. May 2024 will be flying over and starting in Iloilo (decided that will be home base) once I am permanently in the PH.
Hope you folks get power back soon. Yes, you are right, Gino. Early morning walks and enjoying a sunrise are priceless. The simple things in life become more important as we get older. You and Dazel have a good day!
I did solar on my RV learned how to from you tube and FB group. It's not hard or expensive to do a small system that would run frig TV, fans and charge computer phones ect.
We get by with our Bluetti power station powering our rechargeable fans, laptop, and cellphones. Would be nice to be able to power our refrigerator with solar power.
@@dazeltv1351Hey Ginno! Good to see that you and the fam are doing well despite these power outages. It’s crazy that it’s affected so many people especially in Aklan which is a prime tourist destination. Maybe when you get a chance or if you’re feeling up to it, you can go over your Bluetti setup. I’m very curious since I too will be retiring in the Philippines within the next few months! I remember I was there in the Philippines for months in the midst and aftermath of typhoon Yolanda in Luzon and spent a small fortune on gasoline for the generator because we did not have power for over 2 months. Thank you and take care always!
There is absolutely no way I could handle not getting a good night's sleep nor could I handle sweating my butt off during the day when it is hottest. I will definitely have a solar system when I retire there. In fact, I have already started saving for it. For me it's like killing two birds with one stone in that I will not be concerned about power outages and my electric bill will be nearly zero pesos. Plus, cost for solar is becoming more and more affordable.
We will definitely save up money so we can improve our electricity situation during power outages. I’ll begin researching what is available in the Philippines.
@dazeltv1351 I had a C and P exam today. If it does well and my disability is service connected I'll use a little of the money to buy you and dazel a coffee when we visit Phillipines this year 😊
Community batteries and local solar panels and/or wind rurbines are essential for sustainable and uninterupted power supply. If each home has batteries as well, high power ising households would be soley responsible for their reliable energy usage. Go 12v lighting and use higher power for washing and refridgeration only.
Good morning my Brother Ginno, good to see you out enjoying your morning Walk but sorry to hear about your Electricity problem ! It must be Hard to keep your Refrigerator working to keep your food from spoiling. Also charging your phones. Do you have a Solar Charger ? I Will be PRAYING THAT everything Gets Back to normal soon 😇🙏😇
We finally got our electricity back yesterday afternoon. We have a small refrigerator and try not to keep much in it; just because of power outages. We have a Bluetti power station that allows us to charge our gadgets and keep our internet going; I’ve been using our car to car the power station. But, will now invest in solar panels. Thank you for your prayers my brother. Take care and God bless.
I would never get used to that level of power unreliability. If HOA doesn't allow adding sufficient solar to your roof to fully power the house entirely, I'd buy a dual fuel generator. DIY solar is not nearly as complicated as you make it out to be and China's economic meltdown is making both panels and Li ion batteries dirt cheap currently. That may not last.
The HOA allows adding solar to our roof. I plan on at least getting 200 watts solar panel for now to charge our Bluetti power station; I’ve been using our car to charge it. We have a small house; I just have to improve on what we got.
Hey Ginno, my timing for Boracay trip couldn’t have come at a better time. Think I’ll extend my trip here. Power was out in Kalibo the day before I left. It’s been awhile since I’ve had to go through power outages. They were regular when I was stationed in Guam. Went 6 weeks once after an earthquake. Learned to make just about anything on a bbq grill. Believing for a solution soon. Stay safe brother. Rick
I actually prefer Boracay now that it is not so crowded. Good idea on extending your stay in Boracay. We finally got our electricity back yesterday afternoon. We have a portable butane gas stove we use during power outages instead of our electric stove. We use the bbq grill more too. 😃 Take care brother. See you soon during Ati-Atihan.
@@dazeltv1351 It is crowded here now. In all my visits here I’ve never seen it so busy!! I guess good for business but I am not a guy that enjoys crowds! See ya soon brother!
Hi guys, Although you all are having a rough time with the extended power outage, Marie said "Happy Three Kings Day". I don't know if this is feasible for you but the last time we had a long outage, we stayed at an out-of-town hotel until power was restored. We hope you'll return to normal soon because we know how much Leanna hates missing school🤣🤣🤣 but no matter how you cut it, life is terrible without power. Take care our friends as best as possible and we love you all.
We finally got our electricity back yesterday afternoon. Leanna will be back in school on Monday. 🤣 She does miss her classmates. Take care our friends. Love you both!
I was considering adding solar after my house build is complete there since I have two medical devices I use daily. My wife said she has a nephew in the Philippines that sells solar (don't know about installs) but I can get futher info if you want. I don't know where he is specifically in the Philippines. I have 200 watts solar on my minivan that charges a 450 watt battery device similar to yours prettty quickly (3 hrs?) on a sunny summer day.
Thank you for the offer Sir! I will begin my research on improving on our Bluetti power station. Definitely getting solar panels; at least 200 watts like yours.
Nice video .. good information regarding the electric grid .. question - What color are the houses painted there ?? Davies ? We are at the other end of Panay island and have power outages constantly .. looking into options. Thanks for your work .. was at Clark in the mid 70's .. AFSS (with the round antenna farm) ,,
Thank you my friend. The color scheme on the houses are yellow, orange, and brown. Yes; we used Davies when we repainted our house. But, you are allowed to use any brand as long as the colors are close. Oh nice! I remember those giant golf-ball looking antennas. :) I was assigned to the 13th Air Force Medical Center; worked in medical records and then in admissions.
I'm buying a Bluetti Power Station that'll at least run a fan ....even if I have to eat the fish I catch to save money for that power station ...hahahaha

Thank you my friend. I think you made a good decision making Iloilo City your home base.
Agree sleeping is impossible for me without electricity. I need a fan running year round for the ambient sound. I need that steady white noise.
The rechargeable fans work great! I just have to improve our charging time of our fans; possibly with extra batteries and solar panels.

Solar energy and battery power is the way forward. I have a relative that is almost off grid for the past few years.
We are ordering the foldable solar panel for our Bluetti power station. I do like being able to produce our own electricity.

You can build anything you want and anywhere you want in the Philippines if you have the money to spend.
Why should Boracay have priority? When I first visited over 40 years ago, Boracay was not even on the Power Grid.
It’s for the tourists. The economy of our province rely so much on the number of tourists Boracay gets.
