Nice informative overview I appreciate that

Hi Gino and Dazel, I've seen you a few times now in Kalibo but am always in the car when I see you. I'll say hi next time!
Cool! Please say hi. We would be happy to meet you. Take care.
Good video!
Thank you our friend!
Thanks so much for this video, Ginno. Always nice to see and compare prices there. I agree when you that it seems more safer to buy meat at the store than at the public wet market.
You're welcome my brother. Yes; I feel safer buying our meat products at the grocery. They started the big renovation of Kalibo Public Market. It should make shopping at the public market here a better experience. Take care my brother.
@@dazeltv1351 Great to hear about the new renovation at the market. That will be so much more pleasant for both vendors and customers.
@@cadizwilmo9687 All the public markets in the 17 municipalities in Aklan province are getting renovated. Election season must be right around the corner. 😃
I enjoy the local fruits and veggies. My fav veggie dish is pinakbet. I’m able to make that here in California. 😊
Pinakbet and monggo dish is regular dish for us. We eat both once a week. We usually eat it with fried fish. 😃
Thank you for sharing the market trip much appreciated 👍
You're welcome my friend.
Hello Ginno .. thanks for the video from SM .. very good information
You're welcome my friend.
Thank You Very much sir 🙏
You're welcome my friend.
Hi Ginno thanks for show how much vegetables and meat not buy meat from the markets
You're welcome my friend.
Hi guys, Food vlogs are my favorite right next to travel vlogs, and as vacationers, we don't worry too much about prices. However, since all things are relative, I can relate to the native Filipinos and the expats concerned about making their peso stretch further and where prices for certain products can be a deciding factor. Take care our friends and we love you all.
I plan on doing more food vlogs; now that I’m back eating pretty much all the food that I used to eat. I get a lot of food questions from the U.S. whether we are seeing high inflation in the Philippines and whether food prices are going up. I’m not really seeing it here in our province of Aklan. We are able to maintain our monthly budget and still go out at least once a week. It helps that I am Filipino; able to eat like the locals here. Take care our friends. Love you both.
You have much more beef selection than most cities in Thailand ..yup, expensive but can't even find in Thailand unless in Bangkok and then it's imported. Thanks Ginno, great video :)
You're welcome my friend. Take care. Stay blessed.
AWESOME VIDEO With Great Info :)) !!!!!! The "RIB EYE " ( Per Kilo )Is VERRRY REASONABLE :O)) I Just BROUGHT a 1/2 Kilo RIB EYE On SALE for $13.00 (Per POUND ) !!! THANKS 4 GOING SLOW & SHOWING The PRICES :))
Thank you my brother. Appreciate you sharing the price on Ribeye. I am always curious about prices of items in the U.S.; so I can compare. Take care my brother.
Hi Ginno... thanks for a great coverage on food and prices. Ginno correct me if I'm wrong but what i noticed is local people eat only one type to bean, and that is mungo. I havent seen locals eating chick peas, kidney beans, black beans, lima beans and all the vairety of pulses. Beans and pulses are really cheap and extremely healthy.
You're welcome my brother. Chick peas is called garbanzos here; added to several Filipinos dishes like Giniling, Guisado, and Nilaga (soup dish). There are also Filipino dishes that use kidney beans; just depends on the area you live in the Philippines. Filipino dishes are different; depending on the area. Just like Filipino dialects; food is different from area to area. Lima beans also used in Filipino dishes.
@@dazeltv1351 ...ahhh thanks.
Thanks Gino. Ribeye in the states is $12-$15 USD per lb. and it looks like it was about $5/lb in the PH.
@@robertl2227 The quality of beef in the U.S. is better. But, with the lower price, it balances out I think.
No flies that for sure 😊
Yes; makes for a better food shopping experience.
$16.98 a pound for ribeyes here in North Carolina so I'd say you definitely get a better price there for $9.83 for 2.2 pounds. And my price is at the local Sams Club. Crazy that their's that big of a difference in prices. Thank you for your videos and great information.
I just paid 23 a pound for Ribeyes here in CA. $4 a pound sounds awesome!
Thanks for sharing the information on the price of ribeyes. I’m always curious how much food is in the U.S. now. I appreciate you my friend.
Keep in mind that the ribeye steaks made in the Philippines are probably 3 notches below choice level. There's no marbling whatsoever and it tastes like chuck steak. You get what pay for. You're better off buying New Zealand or Australian made beef as it's much better quality and tastes delicious.
@@J-Tyson558 Thanks for the information my friend. Good to know.
First like .. yeahhhhhhh....
Nice my brother! I appreciate your continued support. Take care. Stay blessed.
@@dazeltv1351 it's good to be first sometimes. 😁✌️

beef as well as the pork and chicken are much higher in the US. 90 precent ground beef 6:00 us lb.
Thank you for the information my friend. I’m curious now on how much things cost in the U.S. Take care.
Thanks, are you going to do a seafood video too with the names of the fish? Most wet market videos show the fish, but not what their called.
Hi Ginno Great Video and information, I thought They started raising cattle in the Philippines? Maybe I was misinformed. God Bless You And Dazle and Leana and your Family Too.
Thank you my friend. The locals in Aklan have cows; but in small numbers. Usually, a farmer will have a couple of cows and several goats. Not like cattle raising in Texas. I've never seen cattle here in mass numbers. That's why beef is expensive here; at least twice the price of pork or chicken. Take care and God bless.
@dazeltv1351 Thank You for sharing the information my Brother Ginno, God Bless You and Dazle and Leana and your Family Too
@@raymondking1793 You're welcome my brother. Stay blessed.
Come prepared. Buy property. Have an income. Costs are irrelevant. It's cheaper here than in HK/UK/US. Food here is cheaper than where we came from, at least one fifth of the costs we used to pay. As for power outages - one in 5 years, and that was during a typhoon.
Thank you my friend.
1000 Island = my fave. I’m in 👍😛
I have learned to like Thousand Island because that is what is they give you here. 😁
When we retire in Philippines soon or sooner, I can surely spend less and still be able to maintain my healthy lifestyle. You're right, kangkong, talbos ng kamote, saluyot, okra, ampalaya etc.. are so cheap (or free).
If you eat the Filipino vegetables; your food budget will definitely be lower than if you don't. I think many people miss out on good, healthy vegetables by ignoring the vegetables that Filipinos eat. But, I understand because some Filipino dishes can be intimidating to eat for a foreigner.
@@dazeltv1351
I agree.
@@dazeltv1351 where I am right now, it's the reverse😂
I love those tropical leafy vegetables but they cost me an arm and a leg😂
Kangkong is $6.99/lb
Yam leaves $8.99/lb
Saluyot $3.99/pack(frozen. Product of Davao City)
My favorite santol is $9.99/lb
Atis is $8.99/lb
Oh my... But... I still buy😂
@@1994mackie I understand my friend. I remember going to the Asian markets in Tucson, Arizona. All the tropical vegetables and fruits were expensive.

Treasures I kind of took for granted before... Now, I'm longing for them ❤️❤️❤️
I would say the beef and pork and chicken we're about 50% the price of American beef at Walmart.
Thanks for sharing the information. Good to know for me; because I’m often asked by people. Take care my friend.
nice video !!! the prices of meat are the same or more than in the US. will eat steak once a year when you received the tax refund..lol For salad lover better grow your own in the backyard. It easy to grow vege in the PI even in a pot.
I gave up eating steak when I moved here in 2011. I just knew they were expensive and less quality beef here. The last time I ate steak was in 2016; my friend from Hawaii treated me to a steak dinner in Boracay.😁 Dazel has never had steak; it’s foreign to her to eat just a big slab of beef with blood still in it. 😁 I’ve been able to make my own salad; using cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, add avocado or green mango, add garbanzo beans sometimes. Lettuce if it’s available. Use vinaigrette.
Do you recommend putting all fruit in the fridge due to 🐜🦗 common to the Philippines. I'm thinking of bug 💣 ing monthly just for my sanity 😅😂😂
We don't put our fruits in the fridge; unless we wanted to chill it like watermelon. We have screens on all our windows; really helps in keeping the bugs away. We don't have an ant problem in our house. I think because I cemented our yard; I don't have grass or dirt in our property. 😃
That doesn't look like real meat. No connective tissue or intramuscular fat
👍
Carrots 148 !!!! AHHHHH
Carrots are always available and inexpensive at the public markets.
@@dazeltv1351 Inexpensive? can't say I've seen them under 100 per kilo ( youtube video's ) ,, and I pay the equivalent of 37 peso per kilo here in one of the most expensive cities in the world :) I have often been shocked at vegetable prices in the Philippines compared to Thailand and Vietnam
@@tilapiadave3234 It just depends on the vegetable. Vegetables that Filipinos don't commonly eat will cost you more here. But, vegetables that Filipinos eat will cost less. Carrot is not common on Filipino dishes; I seldom use it when cooking Filipino food. Because one vegetable is cheaper in your area; doesn't mean that all vegetables in the Philippines cost more. There will always be vegetables and fruits that will be more expensive here because it is not common here and have to be imported from another country.
@@dazeltv1351 I understand your point perhaps I could have expressed what I was trying to say in a better way. I am trying to point out that in general food and vegetables are more expensive in the Philippines than in Thailand and Vietnam and some even more expensive than in Sydney Australia.
@@tilapiadave3234 I have noticed that Thailand and Vietnam are cheaper in a lot of things compared to the Philippines not just food. I have a friend that moved to Thailand after checking out the Philippines. You get better housing in Thailand and Vietnam for the price you pay. In my opinion the advantage of going to the Philippines instead of the two countries is English is widely spoken.
Are the meats local grown animals? Or from New Zealand?
I would assume that they are local grown animals. Beef that come from New Zealand is expensive; sold at S&R Iloilo.
@@dazeltv1351 I love cooking meats over real wood coals. LOL
@@rabidfarmer9765 I love the BBQ skewers that they sell here in the evening time. With spicy 🌶️ vinegar and red onion sauce. That is one of our go-to dinners when we don’t feel like cooking. 😁
@@dazeltv1351 I will try to taste them all each vendor. When I find the best style - put him on speed-dial. LOL IT does save you the trouble of making fire and just enjoy. Cannot wait man.
