Never in the field of sporting history has a player been paid so much and let fans down so badly. B) Sterling did come good. Sturridge was right to defend him, and this bloke was perfectly wrong to criticise either of them in those relevant respects. Or - at very least in Sterling's case - in any respect, really. 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
True but looking at that starting lineup there were so many players at the World Cup who were also in that team that flopped so hard against Iceland. It just goes to show how important the right manager is and how Hodgson was completely clueless going into that tournament.

Am I the only one who thinks none of this would have happened if Roy had picked Lallana over Kane? Sturridge up top as he is useless on the wing - no idea why Roy always insisted on playing strikers on the wings (Sturridge, Vardy, Rashford, Welbeck). But the main disappointment is that Lallana (our best player in the tournament IMO) didn't start yesterday. Barkley should have played at least once too.
I'm not even English, but I watched the game and I was sad to see a player of Barkley and Rashfords qualities not get nearly enough playtime this euros...
Woy played strikers on the wing as he is stuck on the idea that these wingers would cut inside and add a goal threat. The reality, as we all could see BEFORE THE EUROS was that they simply add any goal threat whatsoever and were worse than playing natural wingers. They just occupied the same role as general midfield wingers, with the added disadvantage of being unsure of which option to take when crossing opportunities presented themselves. Sturridge looked clueless, he's simply not experienced playing as a left footed right winger. I genuinely cannot work out why Woy stuck to this 4-2-3-1 system when the squad he chose was suited to a 4-4-2 (used by Iceland of all teams!) or a even an Italian 3-5-2. Having studied every team's formations in this Euro, no other team has got it so wrong as Woy did.
It is hard to fathom. So was the 86 minute sub. England are 2-1 down not 2-1 up. Even 76 makes sense but 86? I am no expert but like most team sports it's about playing a role. Often England have exited with some bad luck or a decent team has got the better of them or penalties but this was none of those things.
notformebeaky In regards to the 86th minute sub maybe it is a reflection of the way the team played that 2nd half too. As casual as you'll see. There is no need to rush/panic but a little urgency wouldn't go astray. I think that is why everyone is praising Rashford 'cos he showed the urgency required in the situation. It's not a Sunday stroll. The way the French came out after the half 1-0 down against Ireland. That is what is expected. Ramp it up some ffs.
Well yes, yes seeing as how sterling has been criticised in the press for flying in economy class, having tattoos and even having breakfast, you'd hope people would shut up about him for a bit. You've got people having the nerve to question why he plays for England only for him to be one of our best, if not our best player at the euros. But yeah nothing to do with racism cos that doesn't exist in the media here
@@dendenn7383 yeah I'm not even joking before the tournament I had sterling in my front 3 but I kept it to my self cos of the bad form he was in.
What a difference 2 years makes - it's coming home lads!
Well, it didn't. Not even the 3rd place. Beaten twice by tiny Belgium.
Succession Stories belgium are a amazing team you idiot
It didnt
My dead cat has more chance of coming home
Hahahahahahahaha
This guy should be careful criticizing sterling he might be called racist
Well yes, yes seeing as how sterling has been criticised in the press for flying in economy class, having tattoos and even having breakfast, you'd hope people would shut up about him for a bit. You've got people having the nerve to question why he plays for England only for him to be one of our best, if not our best player at the euros.
But yeah nothing to do with racism cos that doesn't exist in the media here
@@dendenn7383 yeah I'm not even joking before the tournament I had sterling in my front 3 but I kept it to my self cos of the bad form he was in. Fair play to the lad tho he clearly is talented and has played a big part in our tournament so far, his decision making can be questionable during the games at times but he's been solid overall
Hodgson, tactically inept. Can't decide if he was as crap as McLaren. Good riddance to the pair of f**king twats!!
@@petems3283 at least Hodgson qualified for the euros unlike McLaren with the golden generation.
@@safcjoe7062 true. Fucking hate that expression Golden generation.
The number of times I have watched this is a little unhealthy 😂😂😂 mark spoke for the whole country
... England players are usually supported by foreign teammates in the Premier League and usually flatter to deceive on the domestic scene! When you put the best English players on the world stage, it shows!
It has always being England's dream to exit Europe. Atleast Everyone say this one coming.
james hargreaves to be fair they kept their promise like true gentlemen agreement by saying “it’s coming home “ & rightly so they did exactly that.straight back to England by British Airways for sure the whole squad leaving the trophy behind. So humble & noble. 😆
I think you summed it up very well mate in two minutes! When i watch GB athletes relying on lottery money to work bloody hard for gold, silver and bronze medals in Rio,i know which set of sports stars are value for money! It also applies to our over-rated cricket 'stars'.Why are our sportsmen paid vast sums of money when they aren't,in the majority, very good? How is it we can get world class coaches for cycling and rowing and yet football and cricket are a joke when it comes to results? Answers on a postcard please.
Strange how he doesn’t go after Kane and Wilshire but goes in hard on Sterling and Sturridge🤔
Kane was hung out to dry by Roy. Sticking the best striker in the prem on corners ffs. Still boils my piss 7 years on
look where we are now
We love Saggers...
Who's come here after the latest defeat pre Euro 2024! 🤦🏾
Anyone who tries to do the current team down should listen to this
Love how this just came on my timeline. I remember it shocking tournament
i knew we were bad but i never thought we were this bad, jesus!
European cup surprising winners
1992 - Denmark
2004 - Greece
2016 - Iceland?
well iceland are on the hardest side of the tournament, I really think Wales is gonna win but I hope Iceland win it too
+ThatGuyYouKnow0 lets all hope for a Wales vs Iceland final then shall we. (Wonder what the odds are on that)
+ThatGuyYouKnow0 Wales will get destroyed by belgium sorry to tell you
+Oscar hinden Maybe against wales but they wont win the tournament. Finals will probably be something like Italy or France vs Wales or Belgium
+Oscar hinden you're gonna regret this comment
You englishmen, aren't the best in football. But your rants are 🔥🔥🔥
If England are relying on Spurs players then you ain't getting very far!!
Jesus. The commentators are normally so neutral and impartial. Didn't expect that.
I’ve come back to remind myself that England going out to France 2-1 in a World Cup quarter final isn’t that bad.
Loser's mentality. 57 years and counting now
@@blue_red_screen- Could be worse, could be a Scot celebrating 0-0 draws against England then getting knocked out of the group ..
@@yippeeki-yay1691 this is the exact mentality I'm referring to. "It could be worse"
@@blue_red_screen - Yea, but he doesn't speak for everyone - I was furious we lost to Croatia, Italy and France - England should've won all three of those.
@@blue_red_screen Maybe but please tell me why we should have a different mentality when we haven’t won anything this century.
Sterling sure has come good
Euro 2016 England get KO'ed by Iceland
WC 2018 England get KO'ed by Tesco
Tubeite semi final acc
How wrong can you be
At least they beat Ikea...lol
Interesting though sterling gets all this criticism in Euros and the WC and he is still selected... same for Walker that cunt...95% of the goals we let on came from his mistakes. Both need sacking off.
Nufc lost 4 out of 7 matches mind you, won against the MIGHTY Panama, Sweden, Tunisia. Oh my 😁 I hope you not going to say “ and Colombia” penalties 🤣 omg. Pathetic English rubbish
As an ireland fan, I should be laughing my head off, but I won't. I feel sorry for England. also I'm a spurs fan, and I thought kane would score, like he does for Tottenham. good job england
Could be the same in a few weeks to be honest. Shocking, at home to Iceland. Awful
The only thing that ruins this rant is that it came out of mark saggers' mouth, this is the line that could well be directed at him after listening to him host a phone in, or chair an interview, just to keep interrupting with his own waffle.
We’ve come a long way since then!! 🏴
But now, it's time for England to make moves towards winning titles.
@@joesakic91 not happening with southgate in charge
@@blue_red_screen England still needs to win trophies with this current nucleus no matter who's in charge especially with the likes of Germany in rebuilding mode.
@@joesakic91 yes I agree but extending southgate contract isn't going to achieve that
@@blue_red_screen I also think it will be a huge mistake for the FA to extend Gareth Southgate to another FIFA World Cup cycle.
0.40 - is Joe Hart actually laughing immediately after the game???? Probably thinking ahead of his next hair shampoo endoresement.
ledjarde he’s clearly wincing
ledjarde less head and shoulders adverts kid and do more of what Buffon does. Strong wrists.
One of the most enjoyable football matches I’ve ever watched
England's Three Lions: Snakebitten and shit since 1966. All roar, no bite.
Yeah but what do you REALLY think Mark? Don't hold back...
😂😂😂sturridge was bang on about Sterling he’ll come good!! And England off the pitch have a day off! England are targeted every tournament
i could cry of laughter watching this because look how far this team have come sicne this now famous rant. 😂😂😂
England shock,another Brexit.
o.m.g. tired joke.
fucks sake how many times...
+Michael Hammond well said home secretary
What a difference 5 years makes
I'm sorry walker has the courage to applaud the game for turning up that's respect no other player did d
that and he was by miles our best player in the euros
Scary how apt this rant is at the current moment
England beat Australia in a rugby test series in the same time, no one shockingly talked about that the pride in the rugby team which they made history rather than the football team against Iceland.
Complete contrast to now
Euro 2016 was a transition the so called golden generation of the 2000s and the current generation and it showed. Now we go in as favourites
HOW THINGS CAN CHANGE 5 YEARS LATER!!!!
Thought that was Jeremy Kyle for a second
Harry. Rednap should have gotten the England managers job, not Hodgson. Blame Trevor Brooking for that mistake. At least Harry would have had the team geling.
Just found this in 2022 , agree with every word Mark says . Wayne Rooney Englands "Greatest" goal scorer ! ONE World Cup goal , and that was a tap in, in 3 Tournements , never scored against a top side in competitive match
A quality assessment... brilliant (unlike England)
Up step Southgate. Amazing World Cup just two years later. What a turnaround.
Well said!
Although I agree with most that was said. I don't think it's right to have a go at Rooney and sterling, particularly because I think they tried but it comes down to bad management. We didn't know our best system or team and we paid the price. We need a manager who can actually manage this team properly and we might have a chance of competing in future.
Saggers we love you
couldn't have said it better myself without some expletives and death threats
God damn. That English accent + immaculate grammar and diverse vocabulary + that innate English grumpiness
=I myself feel ashamed for the English team, not even English.
Play this to them and we might actually get a response out of them
