      Not exactly since the NDI solution works on Windows as well.
      It's just the USB connection that does not work on Windows and I did not know that at the time of recording the video.
      If you want a more reliable solution I recommend using an HDMI Capture card + Lightning to HDMI Adapter: ua-cam.com/video/zJcA9XNEeWs/v-deo.html
      I put information about this video and that the USB solution only works on macOS in the description.

    Whenever I plug my IPhone into the USB port on my computer it doesn’t show up in the digital capture device, devices area. Is this because I have a windows computer or am I doing something wrong

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  3 роки тому +2

      Hello ChickenNougat, I do not use windows and can't test this at this time but I have learned through other comments under this video that it apparently does not work on Windows machines the same way as it does on macOS.
      That said, I nowadays would recommend to use a HDMI capture card and Lightning to HDMI adapter: ua-cam.com/video/zJcA9XNEeWs/v-deo.html

    Great video! I’ve done the first method of connecting iphone w lightning cable and works great…super stable. What is problematic however is when i try to connect the iphone and the ipad for more video capture devices inside OBS…always crashes. I could go the NDI route if necessary for ipad and cable the iphone but wondering if you’ve tried connecting 2 devices and to what degree of success. Thanks!

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 роки тому +2

      Hello Nick, I have not tried to do this with two devices at the same time. However, if you are looking to do this more reliably, maybe look into the alternative of using an HDMI adapter and capture card (or HDMI switcher). That will give you a more reliable signal with audio and video features: ua-cam.com/video/zJcA9XNEeWs/v-deo.html

    Hi Chris! Thank you so much for this video! Quick question, what should I do to auto transform from vertical to horizontal view and vice versa in OBS when I rotate my phone (NDI hx camera)? I selected 'Fit to screen' but doesn't work. Thanks!

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  3 роки тому +2

      I just tested it again: the NDI|HX Capture (for display recording) auto rotates.
      The NDI|HX Camera (for use of the camera in OBS) does not auto rotate and is locked in horizontal mode. There the easiest would probably be to make two scenes and manually rotate the NDI Source in them.
      However, there is an alternative to NDI|HX Camera which is called OBS.Camera - this app features NDI and USB based video transmission of the iPhone camera and it also has way more features than NDI|HX Camera. One of them being: it auto rotates. Which can also be annoying if you actually don't want it to do that 🙈.
      So that's my thoughts on the matter. Happy streaming.

    Hi Chris, was wondering if you'd be able to help me out. I have an iphone & ipad which I am using for my games. I have a Windows laptop and I have the Elgato Cam Link. I have OBS installed on my laptop. I connect my iphone/ipad using a hdmi/av display adapter with a hdmi cable to the Elgato Cam Link and into the laptop. When I use the Game Device Capture in OBS, and select Cam Link, I am able to have my iphone/ipad screen display onto OBS and also have the game audio in there as well. However, this does not allow me to connect my headphones to my iphone/ipad. If i connect my headphones to my iphone/ipad I immediately lose the audio of the game on the OBS on my laptop and am left with just the game video input. The only way to have the audio again would be to disconnect my headphones. Appreciate any ideas you may have. Thanks. Cheers.

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 роки тому +1

      I'd try to setup monitoring via the Laptop in OBS and see if that is fast enough for you and does not add too much of a latency. Alternative, there are capture cards which also provide a headphone jack. Not sure if that would be a possible alternative.

I teach teens music production, video production, graphic design, etc.. and now our organization is getting into teaching them live-streaming but I wouldn't want them to use the money they have to download NDI Capture on their phones in order to learn how to stream. (We do have consoles to teach them how to livestream console games but we wanted to teach them how to also stream mobile games in case they don't got a console at home.)

      From what I know gameplay usually goes out the device only one way. So Either via Headphones or via HDMI / USB / NDI.
      Personally, I would get a HDMI Adapter and then a HDMI capture card to have the best possible solution. Probably ideal would be a HDMI capture card which has a headphone out port (if your gameplay requires real time reactions).

If you'd like a more reliable solution (less lag and also works on windows & mac) I have this video for you: ua-cam.com/video/zJcA9XNEeWs/v-deo.html
      TLDR: your best bet is to use a USB-C to HDMI adapter and a HDMI Capture card on the MacBook Air. The HDMI port on your computer is only a output. You need a HDMI to USB capture card to get the signal from your iPhone HDMI adapter. I talk about this in this video: ua-cam.com/video/zJcA9XNEeWs/v-deo.html

      With the wired option I have heard (not tested) that it either does not work at all or works when you install the iTunes program and somehow that may bring it to working? I am not sure though.
