I believe that these new showrunners can fit improvement to the series since I looked them up and these two are pretty good for their jobs ,but I feel optimistic about S2-S3,even as a person that has never been a original fan,I still want to see more what they do
Honestly, I’m still just surprised this show even got green lit so quickly, before the season had even been out for two weeks. So having the show runner leave before season 2 is even in production is concerning. It makes me wonder if there is some behind the scene drama we’re not seeing.
The quick renewal announcement wasn't a surprise after the release of initial viewership. As a comparison, One Piece was renewed after 2 weeks, so after ATLA surpassed One Piece's numbers, it was expected. I also think they already have some initial writings, because another UA-camr revealed that Albert Kim asked them to really give their honest opinions and criticisms on Season 1 for it to be better in the future. He also said in some interviews about the pressures of being a showrunner to a huge franchise that has a history of frustrated fans over a movie adaptation, and also that "og creators leaving" controversy. I think it greatly affected his mental health (kinda like being the Avatar of his show who needs to deal things alone😅). So he needed his two friends to take on his role, and rework on his/their initial scripts. He also mentioned before that he only focused his energy on the first season and he didn't want to think about the future yet. If this is really the case, then I think it'll improve the show now that they know what kind of adaptation most fans want (note: movie and tv show are two different things). I just hope that they'll only consider valid criticisms.
unpopular opinion I am kind of relieved. i did not rlly like Albert Kim in terms of the decisions he made for the first season...his interviews made me feel like the reasons he changed things were simply cause he felt like that and it looked differently to him. eg. one of the show's weakest points was antagonizing Bumi, and Kim said he always perceived Bumi kind of like a bad guy. i don't know...maybe that's just me not liking changes to the source material. but like, also the writing in the first season was very weak and I kind of feel better about two new producers taking over the show, because the OG series was made by 2 amazing creatives! and i feel like a show like this you need to work and discuss the decisions you make. i don't know...i kind of feel like its for the better. what i do feel is a kick in the gut, was that Kim was not 100% dedicated in this amazing show.
If anything it could explain why the writing of the show felt like a first draft. The guy was in the middle of a deal with disney. But something tells me that he’s not the reason why season 1 was “iffy”. I feel this needs to be look into. Like how many past and present netflix’s project have been handle by ridgeback productions?
Well I Do agree with the concern on Bumi. Allot of fans did not like the grief stricken take on his character. Hopefully we’ll get to see more wisdom and growth in the later seasons out of the first portrayal. And hopefully the episodes will actually be more. Instead of less, because they need more space
I’ll just have to wait and see if Emily is going to stay. However, less than 8 episodes is a horrible idea. I really hope that is not going to happen with the runtime. But that’s Netflix for you. I watch the Percy Jackson series, so I’ll be hearing more of him. I’m used to the storylines being rushed. It doesn’t really bother me anymore.
I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I already had some pretty major issues with season 1 despite largely enjoying my time with it. The way I see it, this could easily turn out either in favor or to the detriment of the series. I think it's still too early to say.
it's happy news for me lol. Albert personally recommended Christine. And she's been working on a s2 script with her team since fall 2023 so Albert was offered this deal a while ago. The proof is on multiple season 2 writers instagram and they all showed on the premiere even though they werent involved with s1.
I just hope that we get a good live action toph and I just started this series also does this mean Aaron will be asked to come and help the live action and not work on dragon prince also I have something I just noticed about the dragon prince season 6 trailer callum is wearing a headband with gems on it
Its amazing that we are getting season 2 & 3 witch is awesome however the creator of the live action left so what does that leave the live action series of avatar the last air bender now. I hope we still get to see season 2 & 3 in live action.
Its not bad news. Albert wanted to pursue other projects like percy jackson. He was burnt out on avatar working on it for too long. He received the criticism and only left when things were cool down. He handed over the job to two people who have worked alongside him. They received criticism as well and they also understand there is room of entertainment. What worriws me is the episode count being reduced.
Of course he left. He's a lazy opportunist and it showed in the work. It was like watching a school play from beginning to end. He didn't give two s**** about the source material or creating something incredible. And furthermore, he's leaving a bad show to work on an even WORSE show - That right there tells you its all about the money. Maybe these new showrunners will turn it around. I haven't given up all hope, but it's dwindling towards none.

Just because you or OG fans had mixed feelings about it doesn't mean general audience did not receive it well.

I don't know what to feel now until season 2 is released
I highly doubt the will decrease the episodes the are probably aware of the criticism that the show felt rushed and 8eps is to short
Yeah, I read about it this morning. I knew you'd be all over this news. You're on it, James, as usual.😊

Since the current writer leave. I'm hoping that AARON EHASZ would take a lead in writing aspect.
I highly doubt Aaron writes for the live-action series. 😅 he’s busy with The Dragon Prince, after all!

M. Night shyamalan would be a great show runner for avatar live action!
The show is going from ok to bad.

The reduction of the number of episodes are not set in stone like the article said.
I think a change might be good. Season 1 was average at best. But a decreased episode count really worries me.
Why would they decrease the number of episodes if they are clearly aware of the criticisms ? And remember it's not set in stone.
M. Night shyamalan should replace Albert Kim! He would make the series great
