The most important change that has to happen is replacing the writers, simple as that. Some directing choices werent great but the writing is what brought things down heavily. I trust that the kid actors will improve with age and have no worries about the quality of the visuals and all that. Gotta have better writing though.

as better as can be because due to season 1 so much of the story has changed drastically. Zuko's story arch, the underground path. I was hopeful for season 1 years ago but now im extremely skeptical. Are they going to take a step back?
I also think it has something to do with his mental health. Prior to the show's release, he was sharing the pressures of a showrunner of a huge franchise with great expectations from fans, especially after the movie wasn't received well AND especially after the og creators left. He also had hoped that this "remix" version will be appreciated, but sadly it wasn't the case as some people, especially the og fans, have critical opinions about it. Another UA-camr who'd spoke to him shared that he actually wanted to know every criticism for it to be better (this was also before the season 2&3 announcement), so I think he already had some ideas for the future, and really cares for ATLA and its fans despite his initial vision wasn't everyone's cup of (Jasmine) tea. Hopefully the new showrunners' visions would "connect" more with the fans' expectations. We all want ATLA to succeed, right? Even Albert Kim..
I can totally understand if that was something he went through to make this decision although on top of that he got a good deal out of working on other projects. Also, keep in mind the series as a whole hasn't been mainly viewed negatively. I think it's mainly viewed as a mixed bag with some people liking it and some not.
If I remember correctly, wasn't Albert the guy who initially said "How can we improve on perfection?" when he was first brought on? I know he has a very strong love for the original show, so maybe he felt, with all the criticism of Season 1, that he may not have been the right person for the job. i think the good side of this is that the show now has two showrunners. one to focus on the story, the character arcs and all that (Christine), then another who's gonna focus on the visual effects and the overall look of the show (Jabbar). funny enough, my favorite episode from the live action, *Omashu*, was written by Christine and directed by Jabbar. so it seems that i'll enjoy season 2 a whole lot.
