Sarcastic song that turned out to be one of the most beautiful songs he did.. He had to praise their 'Moi' to earn him freedom.. Congo political documentary has been my best in Africa.. From Lumumba to Kabila
This is the music that Franco had to compose for the dictator Mobutu inorder for him to be allowed back in Zaire. May Mobutu rest in Hell. He killed Patrice Lumumba because of greed for wealth.
Je suis née à brzazzaville vivant en France depuis 39ans et j’aime cette chanson, à cause de l’orateur Franco😊merci au Traducteur Lingala … vraiment 👍🌈
Franco luambo was forced by Mobutu to sing this praise song. Mobutu was very happy, invited him to the palace and made him free. Even after Franco's death Mobutu announces 4 days of national mourning. This song could fit a person like Mandela or Nyerere.
Speaks volumes of the man's talent. Imagine being tasked with such a request... ? With your freedom on the line. Where are going to begin? Then you pull a hit like this, enjoy making it, and it finds resonance across Africa. Franco. We are lucky to have heard him. Yeah mobutu noticed the power of franco in pulling audience and as smart guy he used that opportunity to use the voice of franco to campaign otherwise mobutu couldn't make it the presidency well composed content in the song

The man sang it under harsh conditions, he had been denied to access congo since he was residing in France, so he was decamping Mobutu, on his return, that's what he faced
Its only legends who comes up with such a composition. Do you realise 30 years on since Franco died the world is getting younger while we are aging and wearing away?Long live legend.

This only means you're not paying attention to the right artists then. Listen to the translations of songs by modern day rhumba geniuses like Ferre Gola or Fally Ipupa and see if you'll still hold this opinion.
Massive song indeed! Thanks @Ambrose Odhiambo for the translation. Franco is one of that rare breed of African musicians which include the likes of Yousou N'dour, Salif Keita, Thomas Mapfumo, Mahlatini, Nashil Pitchen Kazembe, Oliver Ngoma and others.
Whatever flows from deep down the heart is always true and philosophical no matter how the ordinary mind perceives it. Of course many in then Zaire would hate him for singing praises of Mobutu, a man they wanted out of power and dead at all costs. But today, over 35 years after, the people of themselves can tell themselves if there have been days in Zaire(now Congo DR) that compare to the beautiful old days of Mobutu Sese Seko. RIP Papa!
I really love this patriotic song. Whenever I remember the history of Congo and DRC this song come in my mind. Franco is a legend to be remembered. Shout out to him 2020
With the lyrics in print I can now follow along and sing in Lingala without making up my own Digo words to sound like Franco. A very good and sober music. I will make a song for Ruto’s election in 2022 under a new party.

This music by a legend like Franco proved the nightmare musicians and artist across Africa faced during the dark ages of the cold war when all sorts of dictators hold firm across African. It must be harrowing for Franco and the OK Jazz having to sing praises to a monster and a killer like Mobutu in order to be free from going and rotting in jail if they fail to do so. Some artists have no choice then than to sang praises of this dictators in order just to eat (poverty) as Western Record Companies render them financially impotent and to become beggers.
Pure African flavour. Considering the short time it took him to compose the song, Franco Luanzo Luambo Makiadi is simply a great creative poet. Continue resting in peace.
Reminds me of a 1977 hit song by Tanzania's Orchestra Lombe Lombe. The song "Maendeleo Kenya" was in serious court jestery praise of the then President Mzee Jomo Kenyatta.
Thanks Ambrose. I had always wondered what would that song be saying and was waiting for the translation for a long time. Luambo did a great job putting the song together.
