I know it’s been forever since anyone’s commented… but, bro, you did a phenomenal job on that hat. And, it looked great on you. You did a great job with the brim. It’s dope.
I have my original 50 year old Stetson Rancher in silver belly. Never used any chemicals on it! I have a garment steamer and a brush and sometimes heavy rain! That effin hat is perfect to this day.
Thank you for this video. I'm now just getting into wearing a cowboy hat. I've always wanted to and I'm at that age now where I don't care what people think...lol... But i was worried about how to care for and keep my investment in a good workout hat in good condition. This video helped a ton...
Awesome Job ive got a grey felt hat i had misplaced found it under my back seat in my truck. it was crushed i tried this and it made it look better than when i bought it.. thanks for the video
@Gunsquawk 44 would using the alcohol stain or discolor your hat? Looking at hat stiffeners that’s become my biggest concern, I don’t exactly have the funds to purchase a new hat if I mottle mine 😞
Today I got my first cowboy hat ever off my buddy but it was pretty dirty and abused, right when i got home i cleaned off the dust and grime the best I could but I couldn’t get over the fact that the hat looked like it had been used as a welcome mat, this video helped me fix the shape a lot, but I can tell that I’ve still got a lot to learn.
Great job! I have an inexpensive wool felt cowboy hat that came with a cattleman crease I wasn’t too crazy about. Since I didn’t have a steam iron, I did it the old-fashioned way and ran hot tap water over the crown and inside of it. I even filled it up. I was able to push the old crease out and reformat much the same way you have done here. I was able to reshape the brim using hot water the same way. After I was satisfied with the way it looked, I propped it up and let it dry overnight. I could never get the hat stiffener to do much of anything by just spraying it on, so I poured some in a bowl and used a paintbrush and saturated the whole hat. When it dried it turned out awesome. Stiffened the whole hat up, much like an expensive beaver felt hat. Next time, I’m going to try your steam iron and soccer ball trick! (rxcept, I will probably have to use a basketball for my head size! Lol!) thanks for the great video!
I know I probably won't get a response since this was a year ago but it won't hurt to ask; I have a stetson cattleman that's beat up, do you think it'd be worth the effort to reshape it into a Gus hat?
Thank you! I just bought a wool hat at a secondhand shop and it's got a couple creases that I want to work out; but was concerned I'd have to bring it to a shop
Very impressive. You did well with this hat. Thanks for the information. Hubby has many that needs to be re-shaped, this will help him to get it done correctly.
If your Felt Hat is really dirty steam it first then brush it if that doesn't clean it they sell Light and Dark Felt Hat Cleaner Sprays and use a Hat Sponge Brush.
Hey guys. Im quiet interested Int this art. Been searching for courses but had no luck in finding one. Do you guys know of any place where I can aquire this art?
not bad for hand form....fur felt is compacted fibers using conditioner on it breaks the compacting bonds. if it is a good hat maybe no problem I did that with a cheapy hat the fur felt came apart. just an observation! wrinkles are the first sign the bonding is breaking on the fiber bunch... oh well! still good job use good plastic wrap put it in the hat damp a towel, a cheapy thin one, spray glue on the plastic wrap side. stick it in the hat let dry...when you like the form cover the hat edges spray the glue on the inside let it dry. hat form... take it out when do spray the hell out of the form until you can drive a truck over it. HAT FORM ,...put in a full size box so the hat is in a closed bax!! good to go partner, texas method
If you do this often or have a large collection you should invest in a Clothes Steamer they have bigger reservoirs for the water and allow you to get into tighter spaces with the wand on a hose They are reasonably priced on sale usually under $100.00 And Ive seen off brands online for less money I imagine will work fine as those are usually Chinese Clones Stetson brand hats allow you to steam and reshape many times due to the blend of Furs they use to make the Wool ive even steamed hats over a boiling pot of water on the stove

I use Bickmore Kahl Hat Stiffener, it's cheap, and gets the job done well amzn.to/2MYHXsa
Is is hat stiff like factory
a trick: watch series at flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching lots of of movies recently.
@Leonard Thiago yea, I've been using flixzone} for since november myself =)
@Leonard Thiago Definitely, I have been watching on flixzone} for since november myself =)

A whistling tea kettle works great try that next time !
It does, but a Non-whistling tea kettle works much better!
@@zkman64
I find that the hole in the whistling tea kettle concentrates the steam to one area . But yes any kettle will work
Yes sir!
It definitely does. I use one myself
I wish I had 2 hats just like those.
Hat stiffener? 91% alcohol in a spray bottle. Shhhh. That's a secret. 🤫
I tried this and it works great !

What's the other 9%?
@@tonyherdina9142 that’s the type of alcohol, 91%

I have a hat with a cowboy crease I was going to reshape to a teardrop, I might try your method.

@@YanasaTV that crease you show is called a “ denton pinch”. It’s cowboy as any cowboy crease ever
Wow your hat looked dumpy than it looked amazing and there's no footage. Thanks for the video. I think ill get my hat reshaped at a shop
I tried this this and it worked better than I expected because sometimes I don’t believe UA-cam
Cam Forrester lol facts
How come yih apply the stiffener at the beginning before you do anything? I would think that's something you do at the end
You can add stiff or steam at any point in hat's life. ...doesn't mean you'll get these BS results
Thank you! I just bought a wool hat at a secondhand shop and it's got a couple creases that I want to work out; but was concerned I'd have to bring it to a shop
The future of hats! Style, no substance!
Good job. I used the water kettle on the stove for steam.
How could you possibly make a cowboy hat into a Martha Stewart recipe 😮???? I am truly amazed 😮
How did you forget to video the heart of the action. This sucks. I was all set to watch you form the hat, but no, you tricked us. Not good.
Thomas Aglione yeah he Probably just bought another hat ha ha
Where did you get that hat, I'm looking for a soft, crushable cowboy hat scince I have to worry about my straw one cracking
Really like that crease.
Wow, you did a really really good job on that hat. It looks great. Well done.
Thanks
is it me or did anyone else noticed he didnt actually show any of him doing the work just explained what he supposedly did after the fact
Yeah, it's almost like he kinda messed with the misshapen hat, film stops, and wallah! Brand new hat! Lol He did explain it fairly well. 😉
Very impressive. You did well with this hat. Thanks for the information. Hubby has many that needs to be re-shaped, this will help him to get it done correctly.
Tea kettle works better and you dont have to hold it.
I preferred the look of the first hat. The replacement hat (4:15) had no ’soul’
Lol it does now
Great job 👏 that's exactly the shape and style I want for my hat.
Came out great, nice work.
This helped me tremendously. Thanks for the video bud!!
Glad it helped!
You did an excellent job & yes, the hat suits you. You're a natural with a cowboy hat.
Thanks!
Finished product looks great
Thank you for this video, it was super helpful. I don't have a steamer so I'm gonna have to use an iron as well. Thanks again!
What kind of hat is that? Is it a Stetson drifter?
Seems odd to spray stiffener on before you get the shape
what model is your hat!! and size ect, Thanks- awesome job
I love it did you made a video without recording any of the actual work at all so very helpful
That's the shape of the crown that I prefer! Very nicely done. The brim I prefer low.
Great job, looks great. Shaped like Marks on the riflean.
Thank you very, very much! I just spent over $600 on a cowboy hat that arrived a size to big. I’m gonna give this remedy a whirl. Fingers crossed!🤞
Sweet Jesus no. Take that hat to a local saddlery or western store and have them take care of it. That is a good way to ruin an expensive hat.
Great job!. Do you know if the stiffener will work on felt or straw hats?
Felt yes (obviously) Straw, ...No. You serious dude?

1:46 gave me a nam flashback
Do we need to have a hat stiffener?
No, you don’t need it.
Dude! looks great. Ive got a couple of old hats im going to try that with.
do it like a real cowboy over campfire with boiling coffee pot .
Starch will ruin your hat it's great for shirts and jeans, not hats. Bickmore is great.
Believe they call the hat the Seneca mine is same one.

things i cant go with out are my dog buddy my hat and my boots and last but not least my hands
Would have been better if you actually filmed your process.
Great work mate 👍👍👍👍
What brand make/ model hat?
I use a clothes steamer. Sits at the correct angle.
How wide is this brim?
You did a great job except for the front top of hst you pulled it down to muvh
I just use warm tap water and a sponge..as it dries I shape..
I have a sponge for hats
Nice good job buddy.
Great job on your hat restoration. It's great to see what a little patience can yeald. GF1 👍👍👍👍👍😁😁😁😁😁😎
Nice hatS. Two different color hatS. Pushed and stretched out hatS and - ahem - truth.
Great video! I’m confident I can shape the used hat I bought after watching you. Thanks! 👍☮️🌞🤠
I don't really understand why you would want to reshape it when it has that classic look it's like patina on a Harley-Davidson almost
What hat is this?
Always use distilled water!!!
Can I stiffen hats with varnish?
Varnish will yellow and flake off
If you can find shellac it works better
Huh, what? Missed the most important part.
What is that crown called
PFS PLUS teardrop crown
It’s crazy to me that you didn’t actually show the work you did.

Funny how you didn’t show doing any of that lol just all of a sudden was restored . Nice try bud.
What's the point of a tutorial if you don't film the damn thing? This is an explanation.
DUDE, you left out the most important parts. I learned nothing about the reshaping following the unshaping.
The most important part of the video is missing really WTH thanks buddy
why bother... you did not show us anything...not a good video at all.
nice thanks man
Looks good..
I have tha same
You didn't do that.
you fudged up.. if you forgot to record, why not rerecord it? undo your work an do it again or don't make a video
I say good job
Yeah no
You skipped over the actual shaping of the hat. Baffling.
Bulshit that's a different hat.
Thats what I saying, total B.S!
