Great looking cover ...the dogs did a great job in hard scent conditions.
Thanks! Yeah it wasn’t easy.
What a awesome hunt! Great retrieve on that cripple, and that double was pretty cool. Happy Thanksgiving, and stay well.
Thanks, you too!
Excellent as always Eric. Great dog work and great shooting. Looking forward to Wyoming.
Thanks! 👊
What a double at the end good work!
Love your videos. Real hunting, great love for your dogs, respectful of the game. Keep it up!
Thanks! 👊
Awesome video sir
COOL DOUBLE I MISS THE PHEASANTS WE USED TO HAVE IN NYS. HAVEN'T HAS A HUNTABLE POPULATION OF WILD BIRDS IN 40 YEARS!! COVER HAS CHANGED. :( EVEN RABBIT HUNTING IS ONLY FAIR COVER AND HOUSES AND POSTED LAND. YOUR LIVING THE LIFE. ENJOY.
probably the best pheasant video i've seen, why? 1. don't have corporate sponsorship all over the video. 2. Looked like public lands by the river. 3.Don't have tons of people in a group bragging about a shot and their gear, just a hunter and his dogs. We(dad and I) have pointer labs and we don't like hunting in more than 5 in a group, we prefer to watch our dogs work. In fact my dog AJ just got off the DL of 2 weeks(cut on his leg) and is back in action and yesterday he proved why he is my best friend in the field and in life, he didn't miss a beat.
Awesome!
What a great content Eric I love your videos can you teach us how you teach your dogs to retrieve
It’s mostly genetic
Awesome double to end the trip!!!
Hi Eric. Nice to see you again this season with this entertaining video. Hope you upload a chukar video as well later as we cannot go hunting here in Europe due to covid restrictions.
My next video will have some chukar hunting. I’m sorry to hear you are unable to hunt, that’s unfortunate.
Love the video and especially the dogs! We just got into KS yesterday. Only got on a handful of birds so far. Hope it picks up but if not still better than work, haha. Ton of waterfowl here in this area too. Keep the videos coming!
Thanks! Good luck out there!
Awesome video! Enjoyed it a lot hope you come out with some more!
Thanks! 👊
I wish I had a wirehair that hunted like yours. Do. Great videos!!
Thanks!
Love it! Way to end a hunt Moxy!
Fantastic dog work!
Thanks!
Sorry to double comment, but I had to. GREAT FINISH!!!!
👊
Brilliant stuff 👏
Thanks!👊
Great shooting and great dogs.
Thanks man!
WOW, Good shooting, GREAT dog work, but best is how you praise your dogs after a good point and retrieve. More people can learn from this.
Thank you!
Great dog work, that's what it's all about.
Great video! Curious... what size choke were you using?
Skeet in the first barrel and improved cylinder in the second.
Great video and nice shooting!
Thanks! 👊
The ‘cackle’...
Good video, thank you, you are great, you shoot well 👌👍😉. What kind of cartridges do you use?
I think I was shooting 12 gauge 2 3/4” 6 shot
Greetings from Greece! Nice dogs
Thanks!
That water retrieve! You can hear the joy in your voice and as a bird dog owner- totally relatable
Yep, those dogs are why we do it!
When is that kansas video dropping? There are birds out there but spotty, gotta work for them!
Yep that’s what we found as well.
It may be a few weeks, I’ve got to edit and release the Wyoming video as well.
Really enjoyed the video. Nice to see you wearing a BHA hat. Public land owner!
Hell yes! Great organization we should all support!
They hold at fence lines or open ground a lot up there
Really enjoy your videos. Wondered what choke and loads you are shooting in this pheasant video?
I using a cylinder choke and 7.5 shot. All pointed birds so mostly 25 yards or less.
I forgot I was shooting my over under. It has cylinder and improved cylinder.
Great video. The double at the end was awesome. Where you on public or private land on this one?
Public
Love your videos. It’s been hot and dry here in Kansas, as well. My dog has been struggling a bit but we’ve gotten into some pheasant and a lot of quail. LOTS of hens this year so we should have a big hatch next year.
Glad to hear it. I just go back from KS also. We found quail numbers similar to last year.
Do you hunt the young dogs with older dogs to train them. Plus love the video
Yes. It can help younger dogs. But at some point they need to hunt on their own.
love your videos!
Is this all public land? What resources do you use to find these areas, or are they spots you have been to in the past and had good luck?
Thanks! 👊
Yes it’s public. I’ve hunted there before.
Beautiful dogs man, I was wondering what area you where I am going out to Erwin SD early November and I do not know where to go or what to hunt after terrain wise any tips?
As with most all birds, it basically comes down to food and cover. Crops with CRP, tree, or shrub cover nearby is a great place to start. You can narrow it down with satellite imagery and confirm with scouting in person.
Is there any way you would be able to do a tour of your truck set up
I have, it’s on my Patreon page. www.patreon.com/ericforrester
How do you keep the dogs in the truck from overheating ?
Topper has windows and I also have a fan if needed.
HUNTING PRIVATE LAND WITH PERMISSION OR PUBLIC LAND?
Public
@@ericforrester1 that's crazy good got nothing around here like that if it's public there's a hundred hunters on it. Slight exaggeration but mostly true.
gotta ask...are you hunting north of aberdeen about 15 mi- in brown county.. game production area?
Nope.....and as Forest Gump once said: “That’s all I have to say about that” 😆
@@ericforrester1 lol- ok ! im from aberdeen sd- n the backdrop looked awfully familiar..however most of SD looks about the same! i dont even bird hunt..archery hunter..
😆 Sorry for the cheeky reply...you know how hunters are about their spots!
Is this all private land?
All public baby! 🤘
@@ericforrester1 Awesome! Do you hunt a majority of public land in all the states you hunt?
Yes, all public or private with public access such as walk-in areas or block management.
Can you sale Marcy to me?
Sorry, she’s not for sale😁
Can you make Turkish subtitles ? (:
😆

This was one of the best pheasant vids I’ve seen in a long time.
Thanks!👊
No lie
@@ericforrester1 you hunting in a WIA. What part of SD. Have never been trying to plan trip. Great video
All public land.
@@ericforrester1 put more videos out your the only guy that post diffrent birds and doesn’t sugar coat shit😂
Hey Eric I see you have an over under! Tubby's something else! What a great video. I'm headed to montana in October this year. I purchased an lc smith side by side 16 ga, your great videos are a huge factor in the trip we are planning. It's 3 am here in az. And yes I just watched the vid. Love the pheasant quacks when they rise thanks my man.😊
A great depiction of what northern plains wild pheasant hunting is really like. Less the 80 degree days in November and 50s in December normally.. Good vid.
Thank you!
Eric this was some of the best footage of real wild pheasant hunting I’ve ever seen.
Thanks! 👊
Nice work! Yup SD been good this year.
I was raised hunting the border on the South Dakota side from Nebraska. Happy days. We were bird dogs with pellet guns til we could carry a single shot 4-10.
Hi Eric , we have still got a few days of lockdown(based in Northern England) before we can get after some pheasants so please keep the HPR videos coming. Loved the water retrieve ; I know my V would not have been so eager .
Great vid and great dog work. You’re doing it right. Don’t listen to anyone who says otherwise. They wish they had dogs that worked like yours.
Great video and loved watching your dogs. I made my first trip to SD (1st pheasant hunt ever) this year. I am definitely hooked. It’s harder to video than anyone can realize until they try it. New sub. and check mine out too. Safe travels!
That’s awesome! I’ll be sure to check it out. Thanks!
Get'em Tubby.
Awesome video and fantastic dog work. I really liked the voice over narration and the way you broke down the days and the individual birds. Don't mind the haters!!
Thank you, much appreciated! 👊
Great shooting and dog work. I enjoy your videos and forward to the next
Awesome video! Good job n please more videos
Thanks!
Those last two were special. Nice to see the light turn on that brightly for a young dog.
Lots of birds but the conditions have been rough this year. The birds aren't always playing nice but those dogs did a good job.
Thanks, she is a special one. Tough conditions and running birds but they did pretty well.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing
You just got a new follower my friend
Welcome to South Dakota! Awesome video!
Awesome work! loved the water retrieve, it's fun watching them put things together, and nice double!
Thanks, that was a memorable one for sure!
BTW, I have enjoyed your videos, nice job!
@@ericforrester1 thanks, same to you👍
I just checked your channel last night, thought I missed one, been a while. I'm jealous as heck....it's been a struggle for me this year....2 days in Nebraska didn't see a bird, 2 days in KS got a quail, and I'm currently hunting KS again didn't find a bird all day. I just can't seem to stumble on a bird right now.
Yeah I just got back from Kansas...it was pretty tough. Not a ton of birds and dry as hell.
I’m in North Central Kansas, lots of Quail where I’m at and decent Pheasant.
Really good video what shot size are you using and what choke. Really good shooting congragulations
6 shot. Skeet 1st barrel and IC second
Porque no recoges las vainas vacías?
it looked like a great trip other then the heat!!! the lake there looked like a great spot too!!! how old is tubby now?? thanks for sharing... be safe & have a great thanksgiving
He is 3 now. Hope you have a good holiday too!
Great video Eric. Just curious, how many Kms do you do in any of these trips? And how far from home do you get to go? Cheers
If you mean walking, it could be 3-12 miles a day depending on the species of bird. My last trip I drove over 3000 miles round trip.
Bad ass ending!
Your little Moxie is an absolute gem! I could watch her over and over all day.
Thank you...I feel the same way!
Great hunt as always! South Dakota was great this year sharpies and chickens.
Glad to hear it!
That double at the end had me hyped! GREAT video!
Thanks!
One of the best on here! Love watching good dog work and great shooting.
Thanks! 👊
Ql
Lots of fun to watch. Is this public land?
Yep 👍
Great footage and dog work.
Thank you!
Love that stone dead double. Nice job.
Thanks Mike 👊
Nice video and great dog work!
Thanks 👍
More great bird hunting! Are you going to make a video of Cici's pups?
Yeah maybe next week.
@@ericforrester1 Awesome!
I was hunting SD in 2019 in Gettysburg and it was a blast! Tons of birds. Longest tail feather was 35 n a quarter inch on my last day. Those birds are super tough out there. I knocked down over 20 in 4 days but only brought 12 back to WA. They can out run the dogs sometimes!
Love your style. Great dog work and shooting. Best thing I see is you shoot an O/U and eject all your hulls and take them with you. I bust everyone's ass on youtube that don't.
Pretty cool footage! I am with UHFL and would like to ask permission to use some of your video content for our website; uhfleague.com/uhfl/ check us out and let me know!
Awesome as always !
Thanks man! 👊
If you don't mind, can you share the area or the crep area that allows public hunting?
Really enjoy the channel. When hunting multiple states what do u do with all the birds to be able to prove to a DNR officer when and where u shot the birds?
Honestly I don’t do anything. If I was to be searched during the latter part of my trips, I’m sure they could technically fine me. I’ve heard you can have birds “certified” when you leave a state but I’ve never done it.
How do you like the Decked system and topper setup on the f250? Anything you would change or add?
It’s really good. It’s perfect for me.
Shoot the frick'n bird....it's hunting as long as she isn't pointing and then busting it....who cares?.......otherwise nice video. :)......nice double!!
I care about dog work not shooting birds. If I shoot that one, that’s one less bird for her to learn on. It’s not like I was struggling to get my limit either.
@@ericforrester1 you care about dog work?...then why don't you go pick up the birds when they break before being sent for the retrieve?...that's poor dog work there.....dog shouldn't get the retrieve, that is one less bird for it to learn on.........it's hunting and as I mentioned as long as the dog isn't pointing, then going in and busting the bird, who cares?....but please don't hand me the, "I care about dog work nonsense......". ....Now have fun.
This is not a finished dog, this is a one-year-old that has never been trained for steadiness. I want them to learn and progress, so I try hunt in a way that helps them do that. So yeah, I care about dog work.
@@ericforrester1 ....Every dog in the video was breaking....not that it matters in hunting.....and when did they start with dogs having to be steady in NSTRA?.....Hunting is one thing, testing/trialing is another......Decent dogs figure out what they are doing on a particular day by what is going on around them in my experience, whether it's a test/trial day, or hunting wild birds day......just my experience.
@@outdoorrn2980 I let my dogs break at the flush, same for NSTRA. As far as I know, NSTRA has always been that way.
👍👍👍👍👏👏👏 16 или 20
👊
???
guns 16 or 20
I shoot a 20ga and a 12ga.
Do you ever hunt close to home or only traveling?
A little but there aren’t many birds near my home so I travel mostly.
how do your dogs not overheat locked up in truck while youre hunting?
I have plenty of ventilation and a fan if needed.
@@ericforrester1 that's good,it looked like truck was parked in direct sun ,that's all, we love our dogs, always need to be protecting them.
Great vids,and great shooting👍
Agreed, thanks!
