@@Six4691 Hey Joseph, don't worry I will be uploading more real soon! I have a couple of marine related episodes coming down the pipes and I plan on finally getting back to my 496 build too! I have parts on the shelf just begging to be installed haha! I really appreciate your support and your patience! Cheers - Aidan
Thanks for the thoughtful video. As a recipient of an F200 with the dreaded water entering the block from an undetectable location, it reassures me of my decision to scrap it and repower.
Great video Aidan really enjoyable to watch. It's very apparent that you have found the right guy to learn from he comes across as a very smart and humble guy with a good sense of humor and that makes for a great workday. My son and I have two older bass boats with two strokes and are able to do about 95% of our own work and really enjoy working together on them. The only stuff that is a problem is anything that needs to plug into a DDT to diagnose. We have talked about getting our own after market stuff to do that . Keep up the great content and you would probably also find a large following with the larger HP two stroke crowd as well if you are doing any because there are so many out there and people want to keep them going. We are considering repowering the one boat with a new 250 sho and I would be interested to hear what you guys have seen problem wise with this series of motors.
Thanks Chris, I'm glad you enjoyed it! You can get the diagnostics off of ebay for a decent price, I would recommend it since you guys do a lot of your own work. We do two stroke stuff still but not as much, it seems like there is more of a market for four strokes. As far as the SHO's, we actually do a lot of them. The biggest issue we come across in the engines is water in the oil usually from a cracked head. They are good motors otherwise, I actually have a video doing a power swap two stroke to four with an SHO. Hoping to get back into the content soon. If you want more info on those engines feel free to send me a message on my instagram @aidansbuilds. Thanks for watching!
I would really have liked to know where the block failed on this motor. With some reading on the exhaust corrosion / mid section dry corrosion 2002 to 2008. models ,I wonder if this is a factor. Probably pressure testing the heads would be best so as to rule these out first?
Heads on the F series Yamaha outboards are pretty good, but we come across A LOT of cracked heads with the SHO's. The F series you are correct about the exhaust corrosion. Corrosion in general is a big issue for outboards, so you have to watch where they come from! I've seen blocks practically corroded to nothing left on the inside through the water passages.
@Aidansbuilds thank you for your feedback ,much appreciated. I'm looking at a rig with a 2007 that I'm going to have checked out ,bore scope and exhaust sections.
