Used a ratchet strap around cross member and exhaust just behind transmission pan really got to crank it down but gives you just enough clearance
Yeah, that seems to be the most common solution if you don't have the clearance. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👍
A couple months ago I traded my 2011 Altima in for a 2014 Silverado and am super stoked to know you guys have a 5th gen Silverado as well. Love y'all's guides and glad I've still got a vehicle thats pertinent to the channel.
Wow congrats! That's awesome and welcome to the Silverado gang lol. We have plenty more Silverado and Altima videos to come. How's the Silvy been for you so far?
@@TrickShiftGarage Only downside so far has been oddly low gas milage at around 14 or 15mpg but I've run some fuel system and injector cleaners and they seem to be helping. Planning on changing plugs and wires soon as I just rolled over 93K and might be able to get closer to the 18 to 20 I see a lot of people on forums reporting. Either way, you don't buy a truck to save gas money so with that being the biggest negative I'm loving it!
Nice,l am planning on doing mine same way
Sweet! Good luck and let us know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching! 👍
Nice video, unfortunately my 2015 GMC Sierra 4 X 4 has some sort of metal clip inside pan which seems to be preventing me from getting the pan off, any ideas? what is this clip and can i remove it?
Same. No one in their videos has actually mentioned this and I am not sure many of the commentors have actually done the job themselves yet, but I too am doing the job now and I have to drop the exhaust on my 2015 Chevy SIlverado 1500 because there is the device in the corner the white one that I can't actually clear it just by shimmying it off. Currently the nuts on my exhaust seized up so now I am having to get an extractor to pull the nut.
Still had to pry down exhaust with bar and floor jack
Wasn't bad though
Hmm, interesting. It's hit or miss with these transmission pans it seems lol. Thanks for watching! 👍
Yeah, I agree, the most reliable way for me, is to loosen the exhaust flange on the passenger side (15mm x 3) not completely remove, but back off the bolts. Pull down the exhaust cross pipe, and that gives enough room to drop the pan. That valve body comes down very low.
wrecking bar and a floor jack works every time
I installed brass nuts on the manifold studs also for future use.
Doesn't work, not even close. This guys exhaust must be bent.
Same! 2009 Avalanche and not even close.
Same.2017 silverado
Right I was just told there's no way he removed it without removing the exhaust. I have the exact same one.
Same experience for me. Not even close
Well hello gentlemen, I fell victim to this BS video too. Not even close, now I got a hanging pan.
Was this a 2 or 4 wheel drive truck ? Not sure if it would make a difference or not, I have a 4 wheel drive 2014 model Silverado. Great video, keep up the good work !
Mines a 4WD so I'm not sure it makes a difference between them. Thanks for watching! 😊
Mines 2WD and did NOT come out this way...😢
Didn't work with mine
Sorry to hear that! 😕
I've seen on UA-cam other videos showing how to remove the pan using ratchet straps and a pry bars. That may be helpful to you. It's been a real mixed bag with this issue. It helps some but doesn't help others and I'm not sure what the limiting factor is. Good luck and thanks for watching! 😊
FYI ...THIS DOESN'T WORK! BEWARE!!
This is a Lie. nice video editing though.
Thanks for watching! 🙂
