Yes, there was a lot of time spent on this project. Hours on the tablesaw, hours on the planer, hours on the drum sander. In the end, it's not hard, just time consuming.
I've always loved the look and feel of butcher block. When I installed wood flooring I intentionally made it as uneven as possible so the I sorta have a 'butcher block floor'. Amazing piece of work. IMHO it deserves more than just those metal pole legs. It's a work of art and should be in some dining room someplace. To make it out of just 'scraps' was just incredible. Nice work!

That's a beautiful table top and a great example of turning 'scrap' into a functional object. I don't want to be a killjoy, but I thought the legs let it down a bit, although if it's going to be an outfeed table, why not? That top is to die for, though.
In which case, I hope you'll also post a video of the finished table. I wasn't being negative, by the way, it's just that the work you invested really cries out for a set of suitable legs and to be given a home. I wish I had a fraction of the skill and talent you possess.

A piece of fine art! Just gorgeous. My husband made so much beautiful furniture when our kids were small, and 25 years later it all badly needs refinishing, but he’s not interested anymore. So I have to learn how to do it. It’s a crime to just let it get rough and ugly. He’s got piles of scrap wood too. I hope he’ll get interested watching me do it.

I am very jealous of everything in this video. Thought this will be nice dining table, but as others say too - nothing wrong with having beauty in the shop too. Excellent build, thank you for sharing!
Hey Brian, I had the DeWalt planer, then sold it to my brother because he needed one, and I really wanted a spiral head cutter planer, so I then bought the cutech one. This table is used as my main work table, and I'm happy that it's staying in the shop. It's almost been like a magic trick in a sense because I'd say about 80% of it is made out of poplar, which I got for free, but since I threw in a couple pieces of purple heart and padauk, everyone thinks it is a bunch of expensive woods. Anyways, this table serves me very well to build other projects on everyday. And someday 40 years from now, it will show that it's lived a good life, and will still last well beyond that.
Man, that is a gorgeous piece! I'd be tempted to take the legs off and hang it on the wall, because that really is a work of art. Then again, there is nothing wrong with art in the shop - it does wonders for one's attitude and outlook. Great build! :)
I'm planning on making a dining table like this as well. My suggestion is to do smaller sections. Like 6" wide. I feel like the 12" wide sections didn't allow me enough time to work with it before glue started setting up. Then you could also run a 6" wide section through a jointer first as well. Best of luck to you!
@@TGWoodworking whatever size planer you have, make it about and inch narrower than that. The trick is you don't have to make the full length at once - just leave a handful of staggered ends, let the first part of the run dry, then glue in your additional pieces to make the full length.

It's amazing what people will throw away at a construction site. A guy I work with got a free deck, about 1,000 square feet of Ipe wood that was only a couple years old, because the owners we're just going to throw it away! It's worth thousands

I would have used dowels every six inches, however it is beautiful, well done.
No way it will be a problem. Modern glue is so strong and they are staggered naturally.
If it were 18-24" wide, it would never sag. It's just too wide for the thickinss. Gravity will win. It always wins.
Man watching this reminds me of my very first cutting board I made in junior high shop class. Purple Heart is my favorite thank you for the trip down memory lane. Beautiful work sir.
Thanks Pat, purple heart is my favorite too, although not easy to work with. You might want to check out my new video as well! ua-cam.com/video/EqeAOPCDumU/v-deo.html
Amazing what you can do with leftovers! Judging by that charming table I can only imagine the originality and beauty of your house furniture
Thanks! After that table came out good, I made a media console in the same style for my house. Here's the video here ua-cam.com/video/fSti_NYbQek/v-deo.html
Lindo trabajo

It's a really beautiful table but when I saw you put the ugly pipe legs on that I shat myself and also: outfeed table?! You have got to be out of your mind. Make some beautiful legs and sell that sucker for $2000!
It's temporarily a work table. Deal with it 😜
I guess I'll have to!
Industrial pipe is what is in style ! Great job!
I use gas pipe for a lot of things . My wife is into it at the moment 🤔
When I saw what you’re using it for, I just shit.
Sorry it caused that reaction in you! Haha
Would have but so much in this video. Was empty by that point.
That is a very nice table. Love that you used pipes

Stunning, I'm sure this video doesn't do any justice to how much work and talent is required to complete this but it was a joy to watch

Nice Project! What happened with the Cutech planer? Thinking of buying one but unsure.
It's awesome! I'm loving it so far. I made a video on it. But maybe you've seen that, and you're asking for an update? But yes, it's great. Though the professional model I bought, is big and heavy.
I also bought their 8" benchtop jointer which I like as well. Only have used it once so far though. But it's definitely more of a portable tool
Man you replied quickly that's awesome! I'm looking at the pro model. Would you recommend it over the DW planer?
Yes, I would. Although I did like my DeWalt, I sold mine to my brother and bought the cutech.
Can you please do a review over the 8 in cutech jointer once you have used it for a while. I'm really debating whether to go with it or a grizzly. Just found your channel, and about to sub thanks.
You have turned pennies into dollars. But use it as an out-feed table. What a waste! Very nice top though.
It can still become my dining table someday. Just don't have room for it now.
Rojer Jula ikr
Don‘t use it in the Shop floor its a Perfect Plätze for dining table!
Thanks! You should check out my newer videos too! I think you'll enjoy as well 😊 ua-cam.com/video/fSti_NYbQek/v-deo.html
i actually like it as an out feed table. It's been made from workshop scraps and hasn't cost anything but time and you get to look at it when making all other kinds of wonderful things. Nice work this is coming from a purpose made joiner of 12 years experience.
Exactly, thanks Paul! And it's not even just an outfeed table, I use it as my main work table too, I love it. You might like my new video as well. ua-cam.com/video/EqeAOPCDumU/v-deo.html

That has to be one of the prettiest outfeed tables ever. But gave me inspiration to use up my scrap pile to build a small butcher block counter top.
Thanks, it's now our dining table though 😁. Sanded and refinished it, and then just used 4 legs instead of the pipe table
What a nice piece:) the best part is you will have your dinners on a brief history of the all works you accomplished!

I'm going to try this, but on a much smaller scale cuz I'm new to woodworking. Maybe a couple end tables. Now I have a good reason to get a planer! So exciting.

@@TGWoodworking Bro can i apply PU over teak oil?
I kinda need to make one of these now. It's really hard to resist the temptation since I learned that a local musical instrument making shop sells exotic and hardwood offcuts for $1.50/lb.
That's awesome, I hope you have! Be sure to check out my other videos and subscribe, I'm in the process of making more. You might enjoy this one as well ua-cam.com/video/fSti_NYbQek/v-deo.html
