Perfect timing, Jay, just arrived for day 2 of 30 in Paris!!! Thanks to you, I am toddling around like I grew up here! So far, everyone has been kind, thanks to your tips. I’ve been watching you for three years, if I run into you and Cooper I might faint. #mycelebrities
Thanks, Jay! I’m one of the many people who have asked for this video so I’m very happy to see it. The only problem is that I visited Paris just before this came out. Oh well, it will be useful for my next visit.
I effing LOVE french onion soup!!! I actually had it for the first time when I was in Paris. After that, it's been hard to find a soup that compares. I wish I WERE a french onion soup!!!! I guess I know what I want to be when I grow up.
I'm visiting in a couple of months and this video (alongside many others of yours) is making me want to book another trip before i've even gone on the first! Love Paris!
Going to Paris in 3 weeks and I've been binging your videos! Will buy the guide too. 😀 I was there in December for the 1st time and wish I had known about you then. Love this channel!!
My daughter lives in Portugal and when I visit her next year (HOPEFULLY, FINGERS CROSSED) I'm definitely going to Paris for a few days on my way there. Thank you for showing me not only how to get around the city but where to visit. I can't wait. Thank you for the great work you've been doing over the years, I feel like I've been watching you forever. Love to your pooch, and your friends. You really helped us through all the lockdowns.
I love French classics. That onglet de bœuf at Mary Celeste looked soo delicious. Also loved the idea of the board at 17.45. Mmmm all that food and wine My mouth is watering now. Cheers Jay!
I went to the Bouillion Pigalle in late June and had a gratin of fennel and salt cod that was delicious. My husband had a cold pea soup that was outstanding. What a great place!
Great selections! Billili is my favorite place to have lunch in Paris. Not very far away is Pleine Mer, which is an unassuming little place that serves fantastic oysters.
This is the right timing. I’m in Paris in 3 days and needed this range of recommendations. Love your tips too such as ordering your whole meal at the start. Off to find more of your vids. 🇦🇺🇫🇷
Jay, most EXCELLENT video! So nice to see you out and about with friends and your dad! (and your puppy! All of the places looked divine. We've been waiting for Covid to settle a bit, big upswing in the US currently. Always good to see you in the sun all over Paris!
Great video! Loved the paw over your shoulder at the beginning! Cooper photo bomb! Following you on IG. Hope you are having fun in our city! Imagining you doing the marathon tomorrow!
Thanks jay, we are heading to paris in July and was hoping to see some recommendations from you. Perfect timing. Definitely going to fit a few of these in.
Excellent vlog per usual Jay! I def want to visit some of these spots next time we're in Paris. You show us the great spots that only a local like you knows!
Lovely video…made me hungry! I had bone marrow for the first time in Lyon with my French son. He was impressed that I ordered it and thrilled that I loved it.
This is really nice! I loved seeing your choices and love for the deviled eggs. I’m late to watch- I’m packing to move at the end of the month and between that and work, I’m behind on my viewing. Cheers, and keep up the good work! 👍🏼🙂
Jay, looks like I need to fly back to Paris this spring for a food walk about 😉HAVE FORK WILL TRAVEL... I just got back from Roma on a little foodie tour arou d the city. Cheers mate......
Another fun Video Jay! (and it was good to see your friends again, special shout out to Lindsey and Jess, but where was Puxan?lol! ) all the best to you and your friends and family!
I wish i had eaten more while i was there lol but i did get an awesome duck confit at bistrot victoires :) maybe next time ill have more courage to try cafes and restaurants lol
Carbonnade is actually a Flemish stew, where the meat is cooked with beer. It is more traditional to the Northern part of France, close to Belgium. Here in Belgium it is a real staple. So much that you can get the cheap versions of it in the frituur. Btw, I've been last month in Le Dauphin, which I had good memories from a few years ago. It was over priced, the waiters were hipsters and the food was totally mediocre. We received a fish that was not cooked, the most expensive item on the menu. They saw we didn't eat it, they asked if it was ok, we told them - no- it's not cooked. No suggestion to replace it, and they charged us for it anyway. So I don't think we will be back. Other than that- thank you for the video! Also- Hi Lindsey!
OMG! That food looked AMAZING! I’m not sure what I loved more, but to start marrow is God’s butter. Yum 😋 I’m so jealous. I’d sell everything I own today to move to France if I could make a living. 🥰💃🏽
Hey Jay, I recently found your channel and binge watching it like a mad man. Quick question, what is the version of Boum by Charles Trenet you play quite often in your videos? Shazam can't seem to find it propoerly. Thanks
Thanks for this video! I look forward to trying some of these the next time I’m in Paris. Quick question: which version of Charles Trenet’s Boom! Did you use toward the end of the video? I love that version of the song and would love to add it to my music library. Thanks again for the great video!
Beautiful video. I wish I would be going to Paris in the next few months to enjoy all of the restaurants that you have suggested. The bar in Brasserie Dubillot...was in a movie???? It looks really familiar. I remember seeing the bar in the movie and thinking how retro it looked. You look great, have you lost a lot of weight?
Thanks Jay. Long time subscriber and first time to Paris. We went to Bullion Repubilique last night for my brothers birthday - was frankly pretty disappointed, food was average and service was even more so. We had been spoilt the night prior with a local family owned place La Becane A Gaston - amazing food and service ( so good we went back tonight post the Repubilique disappointment for dessert.
I had no idea that Oeufs mayonnaises were deviled eggs! I thought they were hard-boiled eggs with a mayo sauce drizzled over them, which wasn’t enticing to me. Oh my gosh! What a revelation and I can’t wait to try them at every French resto I visit!
you are correct, they are NOT deviled eggs. They're boiled eggs with mayo on top Oeufs Mayonnaise . With deviled eggs you take the yolk out and mix it with something like mayo, herbs, cheese, anything you like, very different.
Bonjour, I bought your first guide to Paris in 2019, and see you have a new version out. Is there anyway to update what I have, or just buy the new one? Thanks, Chris
Hi Jay. When we were in Paris at the beginning of April we were staying in an apartment just up the street from le marie celeste! We used to pass it regularly on our way to Rue Bretagne which is another street with plenty of places to eat and also has Le Marche des enfants Rouge on it. It was a great area to stay in the 3rd. Another enjoyable and informative video and of course Cooper content. Stay safe 🙂
all of these are fantastic!! seriously we've been to a few on this list and now have a few more to check out! our fav is Au Petit Suisse near Luxembourg - we've been going since our first year here and it just has that classic french bistro charm :)
That was a great vibe with the friends. Was glad to see the one veggie option. What would you say about the veggie-availability of these places? I know most of the more traditional foods are NOT options for a vegetarian but I love a good chevre chaud for example and of course the onion soup did seem ubiquitous ;)
My husband and I visited Paris in fall of 2019. There are tons of vegan/veg restaurants in the city. They even put out a handout that list some (not all) on one side and a map on the otherwise showing where they all all. Everything from vegan coffee shops to restaurants to vegan bakeries. The only hard time you have is settling on which ones to go to !!
I was enjoying this video and then Thomas from #YesTheory shows up in your video Eating with You ... YES, What an unexpected surprise !!! I have followed their videos for Yearsss so that puts Your Restaurant Recommendations at Top of My list ! I am EAGERLY looking forward to My Very First Trip Abroad in July. Starting with Paris for 8 Days then London for Four, My Trip of a Lifetime. Thank You for sharing Your good experiences . I am staying with good friend and her family renting a house for the summer in Arr.15 , Paris. 🙂
Well timed and great content! I won’t deny that I make a fairly tasty French Onion Soup, but my goal was to improve on what you can get in the US which sometimes substitutes extra cheese for good taste. I love cheese, don’t misunderstand but a 1in cheese crust with a bland broth underneath was not what I thought I could expect in Paris so I put my tastebuds to work. Never thought about comparing the two (mine vs. a good one in Paris) but after paying excessive attention to your soups, I decided that I DO need to compare the two and kick mine up however many notches it needs kicked up to be palatable. I will be incredibly disappointed if the soup is bland in Paris. Surely not!!! Great video, the dog looks good and Jess is a knockout, as is usual. You’re a lucky man Jay. And I am being presumptive. Was that your dad I saw sitting next to you at the table in the last (I think) restaurant?
This all looks amazing! I saw one vegetarian options, but I was wondering if most French restaurants have a few good options for vegetarians? I am going in a few weeks with my mom and my aunt, but my aunt is vegetarian. I am a bit (quite) concerned that I won't be able to really enjoy the French foods that I have been dreaming about if there is not much that she would eat.
Your friend is correct to pronounce porchetta as porketta- it is an Italian word, after all. The 'h' after the 'c' is what makes it hard, as does the 'h' after the 'g' in a word like spaghetti - otherwise, it would be pronounced 'spajetti.'
Chewy Escargots? Cooked too long, Onion soup seems to be a winner as is the Charcuterie Board and Devilled Eggs? Wine is favored with meals as is a light Soda water with lemon. Well next time perhaps a lesser busy place to enjoy food and learn menu, less rushed means good food! Later! Try Croton or Pate wiith Baguettte!
Interesting what you said about the salt. My French friend never adds salt when cooking, he leaves it up to the person who is eating. He was a chef at one point too, so, I don't know if he did it then or not. Maybe its not something they do in France.
Yes, like Italians, Greeks and Spanish. Offals are also very popular in Germany, Austria. It is not only France. The reasons why foreign people think it is specific to France is a mystery 🙂

Haha, that puts you farther along the path of life than most!
This video helped so much with my trip to Paris in June thank you 😊
You're so welcome!
This is perfect. I’ve seen way too many reviews on “best restaurants in Paris” that aren’t French - I wanna get the traditional cuisine !!! Thank yoh
Now I have to revise my entire eating itinerary and this was great to watch at dinner time.
I'm visiting in a couple of months and this video (alongside many others of yours) is making me want to book another trip before i've even gone on the first! Love Paris!

I love that I haven't heard of the majority of these restaurants. Thanks!

French onion soup was my favorite thing in Paris. Really nice on a cold evening in those little rooms cafes set up on the street in winter.
Lovely video…made me hungry! I had bone marrow for the first time in Lyon with my French son. He was impressed that I ordered it and thrilled that I loved it.
It's so good 😊
I'm in Paris right now! Gonna go try these places ❤️ (Edit: Boullion République was fantastic!🤌)
I was tempted to lick the screen of my iPad! OMG everything looked so delicious 🤤
ok, I got to get to Le Mary Celeste. I work just down the street and still have never been. It's always packed when I ride by on my way home at night!

Cheers great. Relaxed.
Thanks 👍
Nathaniel is in every video that has anything to do with food 😁😁😁
Oh, look… Nate Drew…. Like his content, very smart guy…. Very happy for him that he stayed in Paris….
Thank you for new places to eat in Paris….
My pleasure 🍻

It's a custom one made by the ever talented Dyalla Swain 🍻

Well can’t really compare 10€ (ish) mains with 25€ish ones …

@@lifeatthefino2793 yes! I learned that yesterday because I tried some. They were good, but they're not deviled eggs 🤪
Deviled eggs = "Œufs mimosa" in french
@@chlore2amine thanks! I'll keep an eye out.
Bonjour,
I bought your first guide to Paris in 2019, and see you have a new version out. Is there anyway to update what I have, or just buy the new one? Thanks, Chris
Why do you suggest avoiding the steak at Bouillon Republique?
Hi Jay. When we were in Paris at the beginning of April we were staying in an apartment just up the street from le marie celeste! Not food related, but can we also have a video of where is good to bring families with easy access to the 'hop on hop off' tour bus routes?
That was a great vibe with the friends. Was glad to see the one veggie option. What would you say about the veggie-availability of these places? Hello Jay like the Lets go Boozing line
Can someone make a list of all the restaurants?
I was enjoying this video and then Thomas from #YesTheory shows up in your video Eating with You ... YES, What an unexpected surprise !!! I have followed their videos for Yearsss so that puts Your Restaurant Recommendations at Top of My list !

I’m surprised you didn’t mention Gusteau’s
I wanna come hang out with you lol that food looks delicious.

I;m going to send this video to my friend who studied cooking in Paris
Fantastique
I approve of your obsession with Devilled Eggs!!
right?! the popped rice combo sounds delish
is that thomas from yes theory?
Right?!! I was thrilled to see him. How did they connect, I wonder?
Your friend is correct to pronounce porchetta as porketta- it is an Italian word, after all. The 'h' after the 'c' is what makes it hard, as does the 'h' after the 'g' in a word like spaghetti - otherwise, it would be pronounced 'spajetti.'

C'est incroyable cette manie des américains de manger les œufs mayo avec les doigts 😮😂
I could go for more of that soup…..
That one was the good one for sure 😊
Interesting what you said about the salt. My French friend never adds salt when cooking, he leaves it up to the person who is eating. He was a chef at one point too, so, I don't know if he did it then or not. Maybe its not something they do in France.
It would nice to show the bill at the end of every meal. why aren't you doing that? I think that would be very helpful.
Bravo pour ce tour d’horizon de la cuisine touristique de Paris. Mais pitié prenez un cours pour apprendre à tenir vos couverts 😅
Another amazing video Jay 🤜🏻🤛🏻 The salt thing is a bit like ice in Europe… Americans just over do it 🤣
O.M.G.
👍🍻
The French turn offal and garden slugs into gourmet food?
Yes, like Italians, Greeks and Spanish. Offals are also very popular in Germany, Austria. It is not only France. The reasons why foreign people think it is specific to France is a mystery 🙂
"Spend your vacation how you like" lmao
😆
Want more deviled eggs now thats funny!!!!!! But true I want more…
The lack of salt in meals is because people with high bllod pressure need a low salt diet and you can add salt like you want anyway.
Carbonade is *not* like bourguignon - one is with beer and the other with burgundy.
you forgotten to remove your hats !
