  • In a city with a lot of competition, I'm recommending 5 amazing restaurants to try in Paris. Each one is unique and deserves a coveted spot on your Paris wish list. In this top 5 list you find: a traditional 'bouillon' style restaurant in an old train station that's been open since 1896, the most fashionable cafe in Paris that's still known as the place to see and be seen, the first 24 hour restaurant in Paris that hasn't closed since 1947 (where Julia Child loved to eat), the cafe in Montmartre that Amélie Poulain 'worked at' in the movie Amélie, and the cheaper little sister to a Michelin Star restaurant. You can't go wrong with these Parisian gems!

      You will find me at my usual outside table at Les Deux Magots in late morning or afternoon. Unfortunately, my favorite newspaper, the IHT, is no longer published in Paris or anywhere. I shall have to find something else to read (and hide behind) the next time I'm in Paris. Yes, it's been too long. You're lucky to be living there.

    My wife and I've been there twice. I'm from New Orleans a city with amazing food. BUT, oh my god when our french friends said they had the best foods. They weren't lying. I didn't find any place in Paris that had bad foods. Even their American style foods was SO good.

    "Au pied de cochon" was one of my Grand Father favorite restaurant in Paris. He used to take me there when we met in Paris. It's a good place.
    The café de Flore, is only famous because Hemingway, Fitzgerald or Picasso went there. But at the time they had no money and Hemingway explained that he liked it because it was cheap and heated. It's not cheap anymore.

    Very glad I came back to revisit a few of your videos yet again. Paris looks like a definite 'bucket-list' type location, with several spots as must-visits while there. I can only imagine how much so many of those amazing restaurants have to be hurting through all of this right now, and eagerly waiting for when they can open back up to everyone, and people able to travel to Paris as well to taste & see everything. A great Caffe Latte & Creme Brulee together would be so yummy, (great choice) at the one spot.

    The Bouillon Chartier is also one of my favorite spot to eat, just so you know however, it has never been a train station, don’t believe what it is written in Wikipedia (at least the one in english, that mistake isn’t in the french language one) even though it kind of looks like a railway concourse, but it’s a former « cartoucherie » a cartridges factory (opened in 1845 and that ran out of business in 1880, till the Chartier brothers bought it and turned it into a restaurant in 1896).

    Paris is my favorite city in the world. With such an endless selection of wonderful restaurants I'm puzzled why you would put Au Pied du Cochon on your list. They may have renovated it to a more upscale version of its former more charming simple self, but without Les Halles it lost its very reason for existence. Just like a Cafe de Flore, it's now a tourist trap.

    It's so nice to see a video where the presenter pronounces words correctly and gives some history and detail behind things. Too many folks just make videos of themselves eating. As one commentor before me here has said, that smacks of self-indulgence. I just watched a couple of videos today where the people didn't take the time to do their homework, to learn the history, or even how to pronounce things in French, which of course, is only a click away on the internet. That shows a lack of respect, and I know it really irks Europeans, and the French in particular who make a real effort to preserve their culture.
    You're sophisticated and you provide a lot of lovely detail, and because of that, I have a lot more faith in your recommendations. Also, it's a million times more pleasant than hearing someone mangle kwah-sohn into cro-sant!

    When I finally get to Paris I will probably be solo so these small cafes would be best suited for me.

    Hi .i just found your channel and im glad i did.
    One question: do they have amy mocktail options for adults who dont or cant?

    • @EileenAldis
      @EileenAldis  4 роки тому

      Hi Stacy! Thank you - welcome to our channel :) I'm not sure specifically about mocktails at each of these restaurants but I linked them in the description box below the video if you want to check the individual menus. Certainly everywhere would have at least non-alcoholic options, but perhaps not mocktails per se. Hope that's helpful!
