Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C I will give them a call. Have you ever compared yours to another thermometer? Just wondering if any others out there are off
I ordered the 489 because my 279 was soaked when I was working in a walk-in freezer and condensation was dripping down on it. The 279 has sentimental value for being with me for 12 years (I won't miss the slider switch at all). The only thing I've never needed to use on a meter with all those features is the HZ/duty cycle. I want to know where I would use that function in the HVAC trade. I also want to know who WOULD use that feature and why. Any answer would be appreciated.
Did you have to install the batteries yourself or were they already installed? I ordered a UEI DL489 and the batteries were already installed, I have the feeling that it was previously used. Thanks.
One big trade-off between the DL429 and the DL489 is the DL489 does DC AMPS as well! This meter would be very useful for when you're working on VFD systems as the outputs are actually DC voltage. The "link" button on the 429 got traded for the "DCA Zero" on the 489. I'm sure the garage jockeys are loving it for this too. Now if they combined the two into a perspective DL499. . . . OH YEAH!
I too needed the dc amps since I'm servicing DC motors and the Hz/duty cycle will help on the AC input side. $129 new on ebay from a real toolstore. Magnet on the back is nice too.
Ok iv been looking at this meter for forever, and you seem to have really good luck from it. Iv used fluke for awhile but they dont offer a meter that reads everything in one meter, My go to meter right now is a Fieldpiece sc 440 i snagged used on ebay for like 80 bucks, Its been pretty good idk there's something about it i just dont like. Hey man thanks for the videos keep up the good work.
Bought the DL389 a couple years back based on an older video of yours. The job just bought me a DL429. The amps reading never goes below 0.40 even when not near a circuit and reads about that much higher than my DL389 and my UniT backup. (another of your recomendations!) Swapped it out at Johnstone after a couple of days but replacement does the same. Need I need concerned?
I had 2 of these meters with in 6 months. It would constantly read amperage and it would fluctuate up and down. I couldn't get a good reading or trust it. I end up getting my money back and I got a different meter.
I'm on my second dl429b and the amp clamp never reads below 0.41. Will have to try removing the leads to see if that makes a difference but seems odd as I thought the advantage of the dual display could read volts and amps at same time.
Geez dude. This vid makes me feel real old fashioned. Im not quite into the same as you but i am if that makes sense. I'll have a multimeter for my ac dc voltage, a clamp for my amp ac dc check, a seperate thingy ma gig for temperatures, yep my thermals, lol. Thats a nice piece of kit dude. I kinda need alot of things at once sometimes but all over the place. I do transport
Most of the time drivers are just getting from here to there very fast. Their foot controls compressor speed. One minute txv is like sweet lets get drunk on the liquid next min its starved then its chocked again. Anyway your kit would be cool for standby. O would have a vehicle on the mains, one bit of kit to check it out
I would probably trade a kidney for one, if anyone across the pond fancies sending me one I would be externally grateful, can’t get them in shitty UK and the import fees makes it about £400-£500 can’t afford that!
Way for fieldpiece to make a meter not as good as the last one hahaha. Was just at a havc convention with a fieldpiece rep said the new wireless probes are rated at 350ft on blue tooth 😂 through walls he says lol I told him he was full of it! Told him it's a hard sell at $380 when I can get the testo wireless probes for $180!! (Witch i have 2 of not being a brand whore just stating the facts) he says do they go 350' I said no but neither does yours.... told him with out a big ass antenna or a repeater you're not getting over a 100' line of sight... of course he wouldn't turn it on an let me test it for range after that.
guess I could leave this for others to learn/know www.rapidtables.com/electric/ampere.htm#table I should also note, the microamp function is used mainly for testing flame sensor rod output in HVAC :)
So I discovered you Playlist. My previous question answered.
Is there a way to calibrate the temperature? Bought one and mine is off a few degrees
Marshall M great question I would contact UEI for that info. They are very responsive
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C I will give them a call. Have you ever compared yours to another thermometer? Just wondering if any others out there are off
Marshall M I have not. The best test is the ice water test. Should read 32.
Hey i have one does your the non contact voltage sound weak the buzzer sound terrible
Sweet. I just picked up an old dl279 because it came with the ch2 amp hook. I've used uei for 7 years no problems. Thanks for the video.
Love the hook!
Cool NorCal! I knew they would send you one. I got the DL 429 because of your videos and love it. Might need to give this meter a try.
Shane Palmer thanks Shane

I believe VRF / VRV equipment.

I can’t remember

I like the black look
JH HVAC & Plumbing Blacks always better...☻
yea, only because it hides the dirt
Does this one have any advantage over the 429B besides Bluetooth?
No
Great review just picked one up today!!!!
Anthony Lopez that’s awesome!!!

Get the DL429B. They added DC amps for working on VRV ( mini split ) systems 👍
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C Thanks !
Jeepjones85 my pleasure 👍👍
Hey do a video on inrush no have one I've tried and I don't seem to get it.
Antonio Santiago ok I'll do that
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C
Thanks much appreciated.
Exelente pinza amperímetrica! Me gusta mucho la línea de UEI. Lo mejor de lo mejor, felicitaciones David! Muchos más exitos!

Not sure. Dose it read the same as another amp clamp? Also UEI can be contacted. chrise@ueitest.com
I'm just starting out in hvac so do you think the dl429 is better or the dl489? I can get either one of them for 180$.
kylar powers DL429 so you can go bluetooth you will like it.
I love dl429 I got mine because of your recommendation love.the blue tooth and alligator clips
James Toy me too
Great video btw, just wonder how did the meter after all this year usages, did it continue to work or quality falls off the wagon? Thanks.
Still going strong
@@NorCal-refrigeration thank you!

I’ve never had one fail yet I have 2 of them. To bad.

It came with the sweet T29A thermocouples. Much more durable for fridge doors.
Hey Dave. Looks an ok piece of kit. Build quality? Marks out of 10?
Steven Orr 8.5. No Bluetooth
What are the lurkers?
they're the gremlins that let the smoke out....
Norcal Dave said the DL 429 so i got the 429. Best meter I've had in a while.
Carlos Caballero I like mine!
Thanks Man. Excellent Review. Very detailed.
Hey Dave what kind of business accounting software do you use? I'm a new contractor and I'm just curious
Sorry to ramble. I do that every so often. Cheers for vids matey, i like them

I still like the DL429 better . Nice video Dave
Felipe Tafolla the Bluetooth is nice
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C definitely a cool feature
Good review ,Dave
Nice meter!! Why did you decide to get a new one?
What are you going to do with the DL429?
McCutcheon Services LLC UEI sent it to me. I will probably give this away at some point
Nor-Cal Refrigeration & H.V.A.C That's a sweet deal 👍 Did you use the Bluetooth a lot?
McCutcheon Services LLC I find I use it more with temperatures readings and the fieldpiece heads.
Very cool Dave 👍
I like the UEI BL 420 the mosts
They have the best customer service too!...add just a hint of sarcasm
Jon HVAC 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

nick howe we will have to see on there range. I have the testo's and have had zero issues with them.
sweet. btw im pretty sure its MilliAmps not micro
mA = MilliAmps and uA = MicroAmps
no I don't remember the code for proper "mu" symbol for microamps :)
guess I could leave this for others to learn/know
