It's frustrating how often the end of a lore video is "maybe this character was supposed to be more fleshed out". Why couldn't the developers in the last ten years add some content in that was left on the cutting room floor at the initial release.
As Timothy Cain (developer of the original fallout) says in his videos, the answer is always money. Why would a producer or studio go back to a game after the sales are done and add things to it, even with paid content, if it hardly could cover said work and manpower? It would be nice, yes, but it's rarely something that a big company would do
Colette Marence is an expert level trainer for restoration, she isn't a master trainer either. Danica Pure-Spring & Florentius Baenius are the master level trainers.
Fallion probably left the College due to the lack of leadership by Aren. It is recorded that they had disagreements over various things. I trust Fallion more than Aren.
Savos Aren is probably one of the worst, if not the worst, "powerful" mage we have seen in the mainline games. He's cowardly, dumb and far from magically powerful. He enthralled his companions in Labyrinthian and he let a Thalmor into the College and didn't give a damn about what he was doing there. I don't understand how he came to be the Arch-Mage, he barely deserves being a teacher.
@ He isolates the college, doesn’t do any outreach to the locals, Jarls or other institutions of magic. Doesn’t put any control on the sophomoric antics of his subordinates. Gives the Thalmor carte blanche over the college. Poor Mirabelle tries to keep the students in check, Tolfdir is a decent instructor but knows his limitations as he doesn’t want to manage what has become a herd of cats. Only the Librarian keeps control tightly over his charges, even if you don’t like him.
This is a weird stance you all have. The college isn't a guild. They dont have to be beloved by all the locals. The companions are literally the only guild that is liked by the populace and that Is strictly because nobody knows they're actually a werewolf pack in disguise. Aren is a powerful mage. If you think that because he isn't shown to be a massively powerful combatant in the limited time we see him that is indicative of him not being magically powerful then the issue is your ability to separate narrative from game mechanics. How exactly do you think an elf mage in a country full of people racist against elves and opposed to magic was suppose to reach out to the locals? They were superstitious idiots that hated magic and elves. He literally had no ability to make them accept the college. Nor did he have any obligation to. The college is a place of study. He doesn't need to reach out to anyone. It exists solely for the purpose of facilitating magical study to those that are interested. Its not a political party. Aren had literally no ability to stop a thalmor from roaming the college. Part of the white gold concordat was essentially giving the thalmor free reign to be where they wanted and even if it hadn't been, why would a college open to everyone forbid a thalmor but not a dark brother hood member? Thalmor didn't have any power there either. He was allowed to be present. He had no authority and the entire time we saw him he was being denied what he wanted. Miribelle is refusing to let him have his way when we arrive and Aren didn't share information with him about the eye of magnus either. Then you try and reference what happened before he was arch mage when he was just a mage exploring with his group of companions. The companions leader is spreading lycanthropy. The thieves guild leader is literally robbing the guild AND their god. The Darkbrotherhood leader is sabotaging the brotherhood to feed her ego. Yet your complaint is that the Arch Mage isn't trying to make friends with the nords who aren't trying to be friends with him. Weird take
There's definitely Morthal to him than meets the eye. Interestingly, two things relevant here are in other parts of the game. Sissel in Rorikstead mentions a dream about and old, gray dragon who is nice, which obviously sounds like Paarthurnax, and mentions that Jouanne teaches her magic. So a little girl learning magic and having dreams which appear to be about real things isn't unique in Skyrim. If you choose the right dialogue and get Serana to seek a cure for vampirism, she'll say she needs to see Falion, meaning she too has the idea that he's capable of it, and she will come back cured, although a bug results in her keeping some vampiric traits. This might be related to the fact that seemingly every innkeeper in Skyrim actually knows that Falion has studied vampires and other undead, so it's clearly something he doesn't try to hide from anyone. All the innkeepers will mention this if you're a vampire and the quest to talk to Falion starts that way. That being said, I think Falion actually is what he claims to be, just a wizard who while surely aiming to learn more magic just intends to be helpful. Maybe he has a side goal of promoting a more favorable view of magic by teaching it to others freely and according to what he says, using it to protect Morthal from something in the area. It's possible that Kjenstag could even be what concerns him and that he wants to ensure nothing happens because of that place to hurt the locals.
I just found this channel a few days ago, I've been binging its content for several afternoons, and this video drops this morning? Well, I know what I'm doing for the next hour.
Hey Fizhy, I have a video suggestion for you! How about diving into the confusion surrounding the opening scene of Skyrim, specifically where the Dragonborn crosses the border and gets captured? It’s always been a bit muddled geographically and dialogue-wise. You could explore where the ambush might have taken place on the map, how the cart ride to Helgen fits in (or doesn’t), and the contradictory dialogue between Ralof, Hadvar, and Lokir. It’d be cool to see you break down the inconsistencies and maybe look into fan theories that try to make sense of it all. Would love to see your take on it!

Thank you for this video. I have never really caught what Falion could or could not be up to in Morthal, he is an enigma, which may well fit the statement of every game needs an enigma, makes us think, wonder, come to our own conclusions, as you have also.
I was hoping to learn the answer as to how it is Falion protects Morthal, but it seems even you have more questions about him than answers. Bethesda really left him as quite the mystery. I wonder if he uses his conjuration magic to summon beings that protect Morthal from whatever else may be out there trying to harm it, that maybe the strange noises people hear at night are his conjurings prowling around and fighting off dangers. It might explain why Movarth has to plan to take over Morthal in a more underhanded way than just storming it with what vampires he already has at hand.
When you follow Falion to the ritual spot to see if he's going to do some creepy shit only to be disappointed by him just standings idle. Also, does anyone know any mods that actually make him do something there?

I think in the case of Falion curing vampirism it’s the case of giving a soul to Molag Bal, a soul now rather than a soul later. Plus maybe he can’t claim the Dragonborn’s soul so he frees us of vampirism and still gets the soul of a mortal.
It’s confirmed in eso that all vampires go to Coldharbour. The player character is Dragonborn and thus their souls is special and more agency is given to them to where they go
Um, Fallion said he'd seen or interacted with dwemer and he'd been to planes of oblivion, and maybe other planes. So there are dwemer, and he knows where they are? Is he transferring vampirism to the dead soul? Is he trading a soul to molag baal or to the ideal masters in exchange for your purification.
If he's experimented with life extending magic in the past, it's possible he's old enough to have spoken to that dwarf in Morrowind, I always forget his name.
There is one known living diseased Dwemer in Morrowind. His name is Yagrum Bagarn. He tells you the fate of the Dwemer kingdom. Well, one of the contributing factors.
It seems Falion is doing research purely for the pursuit of knowledge. So Idgrod is right that these are things Falion doesn't need to know. It's just a very strong want to know.
Now I'm wondering if there's any other dwemer references iv missed in Skyrim. Because of Falion has met Dwemer, mentioned in the same sentence as him talking about traveling through oblivion. Interesting
Oh Skyrim, you beauty. Id like to think Falion's ritual to cure you of vampirism works like this. He summons the soul you put in the black soul gem then transfers your vampirism to it, saving your arse from the sun and that soul with ur vampirism goes to Molag Bal's pimp house realm 😅 Molag is kinda sneaky with curer's if thats the case lol And Falion do dabble in necromancy
Most mysterious character in Skyrim. Just the fact that he claims to have met dwemers is mind blowing. That's a MASSIVE claim, considering what happened to them. Not even the protagonists in Skyrim, Oblivion or Morrowind can claim that, and they literally encounter everything and everyone. Obviously I am excluding that one dwemer that you can find in Morrowind, since he is the only one to not disappear with the rest. Like really, how tf did Falion meet Dwemer? As a master conjurer he clearly can interact with daedra, but traveling through oblivion realms and finding dwemers is something that you cant just ignore coming from what seems to be a fairly average looking man. Especially not from a Redguard, considering that race usually does not mess with daedra and undeads by their own volition. Also the fact that he can cure vampirism is also pretty crazy. Though being a conjurer, he most probably has a deal with a daedra that can help him with that. Or who knows, he could have learned something from the dwemer he supposedly met. And then theres the girl he adopted. And the fact that he is clearly friends with the Jarl who's family has a weird history of visions and connection with magic. I feel like the Jarl knows what Falion's is really doing in Morthal and lets him do it, probably because it is beneficial for the town, or at the very least isn't anything dangerous that she needs to stop. Also the girl he adopted having dreams and catching his interest reminds me of that other girl that ends up serving as sybil of Dibella. Its possible that this one he adopts has something similar going on. Or she could be a daedra herself in disguise, pretending to be a human to live with him. One thing I will say tho is that I don't think he had content that was never finished. In my opinion he is just the type of character that he is supposed to be. A mysterious character doing who knows what in one of the weirdest towns in Skyrim, and we were never supposed to know everything about him. Maybe if we are lucky there could be more about him in the next game, since it's supposedly set in Hammerfell.
Whatever plane of existence the Dwemer moved to perhaps. When you help Arniel Gaine you get a hint that they moved their souls…somewhere. It’s not clear since his own experiments with Dwemer technology leads him to be turned into a summonable ghost skipping the whole death part
I think there are a few mods that make NPCs shut up in stead of acting like you've addressed them when you get w/in 6 feet of them. No NPC Greeting (Special Edition) on Nexus should do the trick, I think. ...if you manage to get it working right, which has been kind of random for me.
If you played morrowind, there's one last dwemer still around. He managed to slip being caught in the event that Kagranac caused when he used the tools on the heart.
Your graduation from Red Dead mysteries to Skyrim mysteries feels very right and is very much appreciated by this absolute nerd 😊

Bro be like “Big night out!”
Out where? You live in Morthal 😭🙏🏻
Babe! wake up Fizhy just posted an hour long Skyrim lore video
Oh Skyrim, you beauty.
Id like to think Falion's ritual to cure you of vampirism works like this.
He summons the soul you put in the black soul gem then transfers your vampirism to it, saving your arse from the sun and that soul with ur vampirism goes to Molag Bal's pimp house realm 😅
Molag is kinda sneaky with curer's if thats the case lol
And Falion do dabble in necromancy
Falion truly seems like an obscene man
Look fish, I'm running out of ways to say "obscenities"
I just noticed Erandur is a born again Mormon
Thank you kind sir
You dont have to kill hroggar just use a calm spell
I think there are a few mods that make NPCs shut up in stead of acting like you've addressed them when you get w/in 6 feet of them. No NPC Greeting (Special Edition) on Nexus should do the trick, I think.
...if you manage to get it working right, which has been kind of random for me.
I can't wait for him to open his department store
I wonder how in Oblivion did he talk to Dewmer.
If you played morrowind, there's one last dwemer still around. He managed to slip being caught in the event that Kagranac caused when he used the tools on the heart.
Vampire souls go to Molag Bal hpon death. ESO references this when vampire lore is involved similar how were creatures go to Hircine at death
Ok now make a 1 hour Decades video
