What a great singer. This video shows Faron at his best-physically and vocally.
Three fiddles, a steel guitar and Faron Young; that is as good as it gets. A tremendous talent that we still get to enjoy today.

The center fiddle player looks a lot like Don Rich, Buck Owns' side man and lead guitar player. Rich was an accomplished fiddle player before he took up guitar.

faron young was a one time singer never to be forgotten. This new country does not ompare to the oldies. Its sad we can't have singers today to recreate the old music which was so enjoyable to listen to.

Country music today has canned lyrics delivered in the style of rap music. I cannot stand to listen to it. The last Country Music I like came along in the late 80s and 90s: Garth Brooks, Alan Jackson, Dwight Yoakum, George Strait and Randy Travis. They were all heavily influenced by the greats from the 50s and 60s like Faron Young and George Jones and others. Country Music died after this last generation who did their best to be faithful to the past.

This is a master class in how to sing a country song so that you convince the listener that you actually lived the song. If Faron didn't fall into the arms of a loving woman after putting up with a cold, indifferent and sexless one, he sure had me convinced. That line about "loving me was too much of a bother" felt like a knife in me. Been there. Before booze got him, this guy was the best. His looks and voice got destroyed by booze. And then, sadly, he shot himself. If only he knew how many people loved him, and continued to discover and love him decades after his death. Please reach out and get help if you are depressed. No matter how alone you feel, there are people who will care if they only know you need them. And leave the booze alone. It never did anyone good, and has done millions harm. Rest in peace, Faron. Thanks to UA-cam, you are remembered with love.

I spin lots of classic & out of print country on my volunteer radio show. I was amazed one day a few years ago after spinning this recording by Faron when I got a call on the studio line from a local college student. He was totally enamored with Faron's singing although he never heard of him-AND hated the "new" country on radio. It was like he was discovering something new! I think that is the appeal of many legendary country singers. Their music will always be discovered and appreciated by new generations.

  • @user-xl4td7kb6m

For you people who don't know why the old music ended, its rather simple. The singers didn't quit, the music industry refused to play their songs. The 1980's ended all of it. Keith Whitley was a great example. He showed up on the country charts about this time, sang our old favorite type country with Lori Morgan (George Morgan's daughter) then they cut him off. I've been around this music for 75 years. Things always change and never for the best. Things in this country only get worse by the day.

Several years ago i chatted with (now the late) Kelso Herston who was the Musical Director on Hee Haw for many yrs.... He told me regarding these Faron clips that they really had to clamp down on him because he had a tendency to joke around and really do some distracting comedic smart alecky stuff when he made appearances on television. Classic examples of his playful side are his appearances on Billy Walker's and Porter Wagoner's TV shows, he was really cutting up... Herston told him to "Straighten Up and Fly Right" or they were gunna do it again and again until he got it right. They wanted no jokes or playful Faron for that appearance. Faron gave it 110% here and his other appearance on that show that night doing "Wine Me Up".....
