At 68yrs old i've seen many great musicians. Personally , i believe Glen is one of the greatest guitarists ever recorded. But because of his great vocals people naturally focused on his singing. He was a session musician who couldn't read or write music. One of a kind.

Glen is obviously spot on vocally and an incredible guitarist and he also comes across as a nice guy but credit has got to be given to Donny as well.

    Chance meeting with Donny:
Circa 1980, I was an engineer at at Chicago TV station. One morning, he was alone in the studio hallway quietly waiting to appear on our morning show. I was pushing an oscilloscope cart down the hall, and nodded respectfully to him as I passed. About one step after I passed him he said: "Is that a Tektronix 465 scope?" I replied, "Yes it is, I can't believe you recognize it". He said "I have one at home in Utah".
He told me he loves electronics as a hobby and enjoys relaxing at home building small electronic projects. We talked a little about the kind of electronics he liked and what he was building. Just then, he was called into the studio and we said goodbye. He was a really nice and down to earth guy.
Years pass, I move to Los Angeles and work in engineering at the TV studio complex where the ABC-TV "Donny and Marie Show" was produced. Some of my co-workers worked on that show. One day at work, I mentioned my chance meeting with Donny in Chicago, and asked "Did you guys know electronics was his hobby?" They knew well. Donny was friends with several engineers and was a frequent and welcome guest in the engineering shop. One of the guys was kind of his mentor in electronics. All who knew him liked him and spoke well of him.

They're so at ease and relaxed because they were born to be entertainers. We know Donny started at age 5 and I think Glen started out in show business fairly young also. Being in front of a camera is second nature to them. They're both confident guys who know just how damn good they are.

Being a millenial, I didn't grow up listening to the Osmonds or watching their show. In fact, I knew very little (next to nothing) about them (not even the bit about Donny singing on one of my fav Disney movie soundtracks (Mulan)) until a year or two ago. But, I did grow up listening to Glen Campbell (thanks to my dad) and I remember falling in love with his voice the first time I heard him sing Both Sides Now and Wichita Lineman. Glen Campbell, Donny Osmond, John Denver, and Jim Croce were some of the fabric of the music of my youth. I grew up right along with Donny Osmond.and remember the girls swarming in the line to see him and some either getting crushed or passing out. I also remember Glen Campbell’s music so well, and the first 2 45’s that I ever got as presents were Galveston and Wichita Lineman. And then, I’m Not Gonna Miss You, relating to Glen’s Alzheimer’s that he cut and filmed with his wife and children through the years absolutely broke my heart , because it was at the exact same time as my Mom passed away after dying from the inside out caused by 7 years of battling Alzheimer’s. Radio King To me, the TV show really damaged his potential as a musician, took him years to get back on the charts. I was a fan back then, but even then, I hated the show. (I'm sure I'm in the minority among his fans.)

I attended Brigham Young University around the same time as the younger Osmond's did too. I used to see Donny and Marie roaming the campus or driving around the streets of Provo. My roommate and his girlfriend were driving down a local canyon road one day and came across Billy Joel, in town to do a concert. He had just dumped a Harley he had borrowed from Jimmy Osmond. In retrospect, those were pretty magical times. And as Donny mentioned, great skiing!

His brother Wayne was to have been extremely talented on the guitar, along with brother Jay on the drums! Remember…………he was part of a group who played many instruments, so I’m sure he has heard guitar playing like that before!!! Oh, and Glenn was playing a 12 string guitar which has a much fuller sound!!!

Faithless Love by him was the best cut. Fifth Dimension cut By the Time I get To Phoenix first. Thank you Glen for teaching me how to sing and thank you Donnie for helping me discover what panic attacks were. And Jimmy Webb from Oklahoma like me, and taught me how to write deep lyrics.

After watching this video I started talking to my wife about it. I knew he had a long relationship with Tanya Tucker so I asked my wife if she knew what time period in Glenn’s life that occurred. While she was researching that she found out that Glenn had died in a drowning accident as a boy. Apparently he had blue lips when his brother began resuscitating him. To the worlds great fortune, he lived.

Donny wearing pink socks.... courage. I respect and love Glen when he first played and let Donny sing that he took it slow and adjusted to help him and not show him up. Donny was wonderful. No Hollywood Big Head for Donny nor Glen, just two talented people.

I liked Glen Campbell he was part of the fabric of
radio and TV... but I guess I took him for granted... I have been watching his videos on YT since his passing last week.... he really was a excellent Entertainer and a decent chap... even discussing his less than honorable days ..he was honest about them.
A lot of stars have come and gone in recent years but I must say he was bigger than most... very few would compare

I love how much Donny's son, Chris (Christopher), who is a great singer and musician in his own right, looks just like his father, RIGHT NOW, just so much like his dad does back in this clip back then!
I've personally met Donny, his amazing wife, Debbie, and most of his wonderful sons. He and his family are are truly the kindest people anyone could ever (hope or dream to) have pleasure to meet.
