I grew up in mackworth in late 60s, 70s, have great memories playing on that track, i walked through the tunnel dozens of times, we had to keep close to the walls, as there were pits in the middle of the track, it was very spooky because you could not see the light a the end until you went round the bend. When we reached the end of the tunnel, a short distance was the track again, but a fence went right across. Behind the fence were trains, the people behind were not pleased to see us, a told us to leave. But what a great time we had, miss those days.
Thanks for the video. Grew up in Etwall and spent lots of time down ' at the brook '. Went to Skegness from Etwall station, might have been a RR organised day trip. Sad that Etwall has grown into a huge housing estate, but thats progress. Hope to visit in 2021 and take a pint in ' the spread '
Thanks, enjoyed the video. This route is 2 minutes walk away and frequently walked. May be of interest to you but between Mickleover station and where the footpath to Radbourne crosses the line there is still the remains of a semaphore post, sometimes hard to see amongst the trees.
Great vid. My aunty used to live on Eggington Road so I just remember the odd train on that route. Is the route from Etwall to Eggington still traversable?

I should try this soon as last time I was there, it was the test track.
Good bit from H. A. C. Too.
Why did they land fill the old bridge and tunnel?
It’s such a shame they was filled in

I HAVE A PHOTOGRAPH OF THE WESTERN PORTAL TAKEN BY ME IN 1951
With a coal train climbing from Derby to the summit at MICKLEOVER.
is there any of the cutting still after the tunnel
would have prefered something classical and elegiac in the background, although i love rock and pop too.
Great photos and views. Didn't care for the tinny music, though.
How sad
