- "The shore" as people call it is super gnarly! Theses lines are absolutely insane, I thought I will not attempt one of them. To help me do more videos like this one, you can support me here: bit.ly/39xojyn
Steve Vanderhoek is a local shredder! I first heard of him when he posted some crazy rock slab videos on Instagram, but he had also done a few parts for some bike movies around 15 years ago! I'm stoked I got to ride this insane stunts with him.

Is the the absolute scariest Rock Face you have seen me ride?! Click here to support my channel! bit.ly/2V1Iiyu
Busted Axe for sure. Seen it in person, it's next level.
The phone vid looking straight up at you guys really showed the steepness. Absolutely insane. Also noticed how loud the tires were hitting the slab on the way down. Soo much speed.
I was thinking you guys needed mobile phones to talk. That was long distance there!
So rad to see how much thought goes into something that appears to be super chaotic. Also really appreciate that you were willing to walk away. Loved this video.
Yeah guys, that was an absolutely amazing vid!👌
Big respect to you Rèmy and Steve, Very impressive riding skills!
I love the super tech natural features, Definitely next level! 👍
Remy: falls off 1000 ft cliff.... "Zat was pretty zmoos, actually!"
Lolllll
LMAO!!
So accurate man
😂😂😂
And somehow he'd ride through it
The king of jumping things that aren’t meant to be jumps
Holy crap Remy! How do you do it! So much talent my dude 🤙🏼
Hey Remy.
Just with that pressure gauge. There is a tune button you can press which allows you to let pressure out when you press the yellow button. Saves you from releasing the gauge every time.
I know, I find it faster thought to press on the valve.
@@remymetailler uh true. Probably is.
Also might add you don’t run the risk of sealant going through the pressure gauge too.
Awsome to see you doubt and on the edge. Trop bonne vidéo.
Not for a fraction of a second would I consider riding down that wall.. Dayum
The most tech trails ever :o
looks insanly fun but also super scary :s
freeride ... joli passage ;-)
props for showing all the talk with the tire presure, how to ride it and feel good!
Not just the rock music, "fuck it lets go" that many people are pushing out
Preben Simonsen I loved how they showed that part too. I never would have thought the amount of adjustments they’d do before a certain feature
Totally!
Respect to the New-School of freeriding. Risk assessment, setup check, discussion, no pressure.
As opposed to the OG, 'drink beer' till someone makes the call.
Gotta be smart to ride another day!
@@stevevanderhoek1304 good ski lines!
Lee Lau oh ya! Excited to see that woo!
I was in my teens in that NWD freeride era.
It ended with two cracked vertebrae for me and I assure you the „drink another beer and you’ll clear it“ was definitely a thing.
Also passing out at 6 and being at the starting line of the DH race at 10 was everydays business back then, even the pros did it.
There’s a video out there where Peaty and Danny Hart talk about chugging a beer directly before the race, because they needs to counter their hangover.
Thats what is wrong with the world today, we drank 40's of Old English, now kids drink White Claw
I’m blown away. When I saw that segment a while back I was like that’s kinda intense. Now seeing a more in depth look at that line from the top, middle and bottom. I am blown away, thank you cameraman for trying to show how steep it is. That is one of the gnarliest features I’ve ever seen. Remy, you’re the man. Please do more collaborations. I love seeing you interact with all these amazing riders and how styles clash or complement each other.
Thank you! I will!
9:37 "3, 2, 1, baguette!"
I lost it :)
The guys are scared but not enough for a full face helmet. Nice work.
Exactly my thoughts...
Nothing is going to save them if they make a mistake on these lines.
To be honest with you, for them is not even considered as a blue... It's all part of the show... If you aren't Pro tho grab that full face
@@pb8582 maybe even some gloves
I wouldn't ride that shit even in exoskeleton
You should make merch that says “smooze” on it
Yes please
Yeah for sure
😅😂😂😂
11:57 "I'm probably gonna pass on this one" proceeds to hit it anyway 😂
The fact that I'm nervous watching this, makes me wonder how terrifying it is in person
Foreal. Same thought here
28:50 "Oh, it's actually not too bad". Are you sure? I mean it certainly looks really, really bad. Even on video.
Best half hour I've spent all week.
I think Steve has bad eyes... can’t tell how steep his trail are 😵
See me with glasses soon!
scary shit!
Thanks buddy. No front flip on 300m but still scary!
This was the best video i have seen in a long time !! The way you documented the whole process of conquering such utlra narly features was perfect. Thanks for such quality content. Your friend is a madman for building and testing this features (and an amazing bike rider).
Many thanks!
09:32
-Do you have to gap on to the rock face?
-Naah, it just happens.
-ok.
Sounds so easy
LOL!
Remy takes this game to the next level. He's super analytical about every feature he rides and explains them to a depth most other riders are not doing, and intellectually may not be able to. Intense!!
Yo Remy! you guys are crazy.. but my favourite part is when you said "we're being responsible while doing stupid stuff". classic!
I am so excited to see this if It’s the hardest feature he’s ever done it will be very hard
No kidding, the stuff he normally does is already insane!
You know it's insane when Remy is scared, holy shit!
not too scared to offer steve a gift card in the middle of the video
@@levinsonl and i appreciate that!
The lack of protective gear vs the high risks made me sweat buckets, wow, 10/10, so gnarly, steep and technical, this is a whole other level of riding, like, many downhill racers would struggle or won´t even ride this, insane, truly amazing what you can go down in a bike. And I mean I loove the tech and steep stuff but man, you have to be on your a-game or you pretty much dig your own grave there. BRAVO!!!! huge applause to you guys, you are inspiring people:)
The riding goes without saying, but mad props to the cameraman. You know it's gnarly when the cameraman is wearing a helmet.
Awesome to hear you two talk out the process of each run
Super steep, super fast... yeah open face helmets 🤷🏻♂️
WOW!!! That was gnarly af!! Even with the “GoPro effect” it was scary looking! Props to the builder/guinea pig!!! Remy too! Y’all gots them crazy skillz!!!
I was going to say. The first view from above was like "ok. Probably doable but I guess I wouldn't do it because....". And then the view from below and I thought " holy fuck, that rock has just about the same angle like the trees behind!!!!!"
Impressive, Thanks for the quality of riding and the actual quality of the 4K videos, big ups to your cameraman 🤘🏾keep the stoke alive.
Much appreciated! The cameraman has vertigo! Quite a challenge for him that day!
just in awe of the riding in this video , the look on steve's face on the first feature when remy just cleans the deepest send ever on that line , so precise
Wildest thing I have seen. You need to see that feature to understand how messed up that is
That’s is the craziest knarl ive ever seen called a trail?...You guys are crazy but very talented. Much Respect to you.
I always try to figure out what made Steve Vanderhoek ride this line the first time. Do something unpredictable that could kill you instantly. He must have a totally different blood group that separates him from humans like me.
Haha gave me a good laugh! Just time on a bike and progessively working up to lines like this. I wouldnt have rolled into that if i didnt feel complete confidence
Fuck!! Man!! I have so much Fun just watching you Guys Tackling the Gnarliest Shit!!...Damnnn!!! Remy, I can Truly say you're a Dynamite !! Rider Man!!..and Steve!! Ur a Legend Man!!.. You're the Man Steve...I want to see more both of you Rocking Big Slabs like that...Ballistic!!! Job Guys.
“Too far to the left will be a booter off the 100 foot cliff”.
Yeah. Sounds like you wanna stay right, fellas.
Nice riding, much impress.
30:30 I actually thought you'd binned it - but no - it was just style!
18:56 if this thing looks this bad with the go pro effect, can't imagine how it would be in person !!
Much love from Olympia Washington, lots of single track trails around here to enjoy. Y'all should try lake Quinault, those trails are certainly gorgeous
Yep, one of best vids I think i have seen, great analysis and great footage. fair play to both of you
I will never justify getting a full face now 😂
Look at it this way - these are incredibly skilled professionals, who have trained for years and years to have the confidence to ride lines like this - and Im assuming you're like me, and not a professional, meaning we would be pushing our own limits much more than they are to ride lines like this - I'd say protecting your head, the most important part of your body, is worth the investment... especially as you learn...
Just my opinion though, you do you :)
There is no way I’d be able to study a line that long and not get totally freaked out.
yes exactly!!
Insane riding. Love it. Makes me wonder, if these near vertical slabs don't do it, then on what type of ridiculous features Rémy would think "Hmm, might need a fullface helmet here"?!💪
rampage
Explains trail: yeah it's super gnarly and steep but good, sick. Other guy expresses concern. Quells concern: you got this, gnarly, sick but good, Sick.
Great vid guys. Steve is an animal. He's way too modest about his riding skills.
He definitely is!
Just happy to tag along!
In the current climate of gloom & doom . It’s great to watch your videos.
Now, if you could do them lines on the “Grim Donut “? 🤣
probably ahah
This whole process of finding/building and riding like this is why I mountainbike.
Thank you to you and Steve for what you guys do 👊
Nice riding and thanks for showing some trail maintenance! 🤘🤘🤘
My favorite part is that lens... what lens is that? Crazy fast for a wide angle
I'm using a 14mm Samyang Cine lense. Loving it with a full frame camera!
Proud to see that! Glad you guys finally got out together :D
Thanks for the endless support
This was quality! The interaction and discussion between the riders is excellent.
Yes Steve so sick dude to see this! Remy mad props for hitting that busted axe wound. Steve brought me there one time and it’s the scariest thing even looking down it !
Thanks dawgy!
As a complete newbie, I really appreciate seeing the process of learning a line. It makes me feel better about getting off my bike to take a look at the trail before hitting it.
Remy + Steve shows the "how to" to run the line before it lays you down
Such a great video. Not just amazing trails but also all the little technical details in your discussions were very interesting to hear.
Much appreciated!
That exposed rock roll is insane it looks almost verticle on camera so I can't imagine what its like in person my mind is blown wow
At 19:23 I had to pause for a moment to recover from what I’d just seen. This is one of the most gripping mtb videos I’ve seen in a long time.
Thanks so much Rémy for showing all the preperation and deliberation that went in to trying those new lines and features!
The tire skip at 19:17 sent my heart into my throat.
@@adventuresona700dollarhard5 Exactly!!! You really have to see how steep it is to appreciate that skip.
just awesome to see you guys working together to session this stuff. killer job
Pls show more footage of your GoPro instead of the normal Camera. I think you see more and better footage from the GoPro
smooth! hey remy what eyewear u wearing? looks nice
Jayskillz Adventures hey I m riding the new Julbo Fury
Damn! And Steve seems just stoked on riding with Remy! Hardcore!
Well if he wasn't sponsored, he will be after that video and probably won't need that jenson gift card lol
That was insane Remy!! Especially on the iphone video you can see just how gnarly that jump is
This is one of the craziest videos and at the same time one of the most fascinating to watch...
Thank you!
L. K. Complètement d'accord ! Le format à deux comme ça avec le rider/shaper.
C'est le top 👏
The last bit looked even steeper? I love how you consider risk before you commit - I think all riders can learn from that.
Love to watch you guys. Amazing skillz.
It looks super steep on film in reality it will be way worse....You guys are nuts.
Watching him haul that bike back up the hill is almost as impressive as watching him ride down. Almost.
This guy Scteve reminds me of my buddies JF & Mike in Kamloops......insane! LOL
I get distracted wearing hydration packs on blue flow trails. He's riding things I wouldn't butt scoot down with one
Yes me too I was until I got a Camelbak Chase Vest. This thing is revolutionary. Try it: bit.ly/2VbjhlL
Classic:
-How steep do you want to go?
- Yes
Okay steve or speed or whatever now i wanna ride with you in bobsled 😅😂😂😂 lol
Death defying video on vertical video
this not downhill-freeride..
its downcliff-freefall..!!
what crack do y'all smoke?! This ain't ain't human. Remmy u the man props to Chris for not being in his right mind building this (and for his service as a fireman), and ur cameraman WOAH killed it this video ;) Keep shredding goat
Crazy !
Thanks for your video Rémy ! 👍
Spicy? That shit was thermonuclear!
I know steve and he is one crazy dude haha
I've watched this like 3x now. Love your freeride analysis.
next time u ride steep, just think what they rode here 😵😵😵
That was fricken awesome 👏🏻 😎💯🥜
Absolute legends! Absolutely insane!
The 1 dislike is obviously from a loved one 😂
Wow! That is fn narly! Great video.
Sounded like Ft William World Cup RAW.
I felt like pooping through this whole video. Yikes.
I often wonder why you even wear knee pads. You make it look so effortlessly and in control. By far the best mtb content going. The explanations and attention to detail are incredible.
Thank you!
You can hear pure adrenaline coming from Steve when he's at the bottom with the "I almost died" laugh
Same feeling everytime on that one haha
Somebody pinch me......🤯 this was incredible to watch, thanks for sharing🤙
Wow!! Totally rad video!! I love the whole thought process & line choices you both showed before actually hitting it. Awesome video as always.
Full face only for dangerous parts I guess?
Holy, this man need's more attention. Wicked send's. Right attitude. Hell Yeah!
Thank you!
Rémy you are a badass!!! Love your channel. I definitely push myself more after watching your channel
Wow, thought Dynamite Roll was gnarly. Then you see the rest...
just SMASHING dead logs
Oh Yeah Buddy
It's refreshing to see that you pro riders are actually human and do feel fear. Most of the time you all just come across as super humans. Props to you.
I definitely feel fear. Let me tell you that!
Yea its crazy its like contemplating life or death on the fly for pleasure. Humans are amazing
I think this is the first video I've ever heard Remy's brakes make noise.
@29:45 my stomach sank!
Remy man, I'm going to change my rotors to 203mm. Galfer or Shimano?
Hayes. I just had watch my bike, so it only made a bit of noise for the first few times I braked. Hayes Dominion A4 is the way to go! Check the link on the description. They were on sale not long ago.
One day the GoPro Hero 9000 will actually show how stupid sketchy those must look in real life! I love the methodical approach to doing stupid shit hahaha
...3... 2... 1... Baguette!
The two things I did after watching this video: liked (obviously) and clicked the link to the tires and brakes used haha
Ahaha awesome!
