after all these years and this is still an absolute delight to watch, despite the fact that it made me cry thinking of mom who used to like this massively
Такий сильний та красивий народ забув власну мову... В нас схожа з вами історія, але ми тримаємось ))) Бажаю вам повернути Північні регіони Ірландії!!!
Me too, born 2002, I was obsessed with this as a child. I kinda forgot about Lord of the Dance for a few years, and last year I "re-discovered" the DVD. The nostalgia. The excitement. The fascination. It was an evening of PURE JOY
As a fiddler & whistler myself, I have to say; a treble jig is SUCH a satisfying hardshoe dance, to feel & hear!! It's just a pleasing rhythm, coming from a musician perspective 😂 Another similar; "satisfying" dance rhythm is a hornpipe; for example, "Warriors" in the live show. "Dance of Love" w Saoirse is semi-hornpipey, but that's (traditionally) more of a special & unique set dance. It's actually called "King of the Fairies," but I do like Michael Flatleys flute version here... Maybe I'm OCD musically.. Shit, it's all fantastic to dance to; reels, jigs, whatever. It's just something about treble jigs! Part waltz, part slow jig... made all the better, with "Breakout" here, then segueing into the double jig finale.
My friend is a tap dancer and what her dance studio does is just put microphones on the stage (I guess underneath the stage?) and hen they want one dancer to be louder during their solo they'll just turn up the volume of the mics.
My mom: Oh those are real Solo dresses! Me: Yep. *a few moments later girls rip off dresses* Mom/Me: Woah! Me: I don't thinks those are real. Mom: Yeah, they're not that easy to get off
Hmmm. That could be. However, part of me still questions the plausibility of that. You have to consider the size of the stage and the amount of mic's needed to get enough coverage of the stage itself so that the steps could be heard. Then you would have to make sure all of the mic's are arranged in such a way that no feedback happens, and of course one would have to have a sound board with enough channels to control them all. Considering that and the amount of movement & friction.....
This has to do mostly with the sound design of the show. Whoever was running the board must have turned up her dubbed tap track more than the group track. By the way, dubbed is another word for pre-recorded.
(cont'd) on the stage, it's hard for me to believe that the sound designers and Michael would have chosen to go this route for the show when it would be more cost effective to pre-record all the taps.
This probably won't go anywhere because your comment is from 9 years ago but as far as I know they used microphones inside the tips and heels of the shoes
I love this song, but I also really hate certain parts of the choreography. Like like how they totally destroy the intended rhythm at 02:42. Seriously, listen to the instrumental version and then listen with tap. The rhythm of the dance contradicts the music so bad! I also hate the fact that the heroine removes her clothes to defeat the Gypsy. So cheap and also a bad message. The song is totally awesome though! =D
Hi Flurpslxoye, the choreography and the music are continuous and synchronized in the "live" presentation. What you are seeing (from the DVD) has been edited (poorly, I grant you) with a separate music track to which the various video views are mixed if not intertwined. Some of the productions of this recording company (they made several) use way too many "points of view" which confuses (or destroys) the continuity of the video for those who watch it from a screen. As far as the dressing/undressing - in many cultures, dancing, whether male or female often (not always but often), was created/designed/choreographed/... to select and/or promote meeting of a potential partner. Think about Argentine Tango, Rumba, and several other ballroom and/or folkloric traditional dances which have been "cleaned up" to make them "acceptable" to the culture of the era (times) in which they were performed. Ciao, L (Maine Ballroom Dance, USA)
Really? Way to "Americanize" it and add a touch of 'sluttiness'. When does the "pole" appear? Leave it to someone to ghettoize a great art form and cheapen it.

November 2023. Still watching. They're brilliant.
The annoyed face she made when Gypsy showed up @1:42 was so adorable lol
She rly does look like a princess
Shes a queen
Perfectly pictures the rivalry of the queen of light and the queen of darkness kinda
Bernadette Flynn... Awsome Dancer...
Bernadette and Gillian are AWESOME
I really enjoy Lord of the dance and ladies are very beautiful and I love the way Michael put the scenes in to place
So beautiful. The incredible talent and the amount of time dedicated to this craft is amazing.
This is my dad favourite part of show =)
Gee. I wonder why.
@@ProwerAdmirer I'm a woman, and this is my favorite part of the show, too!
At the start Bernadette looks and moves like a pixie. So light and graceful on her feet.
This is great, and I would've enjoyed an HD version even more!

So much joy and energy, fantastic dancers
I saw this when I was little, and I absolutly love this, even when I was born in 2004.
Me too, born 2002, I was obsessed with this as a child. I kinda forgot about Lord of the Dance for a few years, and last year I "re-discovered" the DVD. The nostalgia. The excitement. The fascination. It was an evening of PURE JOY
Meravigliosa Atmosfera , Coordinazione , Sensualità !
Spettacolo di pura ARMONIA !
Far better outfits than what they use now. They seem to think that having girls wearing less is sexier. NOPE! Bring shorts back to 2022 shows!

Идивительно у всех кто любит свою страну есть. Свой танец своя душа.
When recording Dancers, it's a priority to record in 60...preferably 130 fps. Motion is captured much better.
