I love how Jerry's primary emotion is utter amusement. He doesn't even deem them worth murdering lol after surviving hundreds of years of REAL slayers trying to kill him, he's confronted by a couple of jokers who THINK they're slayers in a movie.
It leaves you to wonder (when you think about it), why ? would a vampire tell a potential hunter (or rather a destroyer) how to repel them with a crucifix??? Clearly, faith is crucial, otherwise, it (crucifix) wouldn't work, still; you would think this would be a closely guarded secret no vampire would ever disclose...
That's why Roddy McDowall was arguably better than Chris in this, cuz how big of a coward he was. Especially, his first encounter with Evil Ed after he was turned lol
Common failing of the vampire in movies and books. I mean it easy to understand why they would be arrogant. Strength many times that of a mortal man, never growing old or weak and the ability to exist in undeath for hundreds or even thousands of years. An adult man would likely feel the same way if they had to fight a 10 year old.
Chris sarandon has the best laugh in this scene, he played it well. I know actors hate to be linked to one role but he has a collective of films worth checking out.
I met Chris Sarandon in a chance encounter while attending Scarefest last weekend. Such an amazingly nice guy. He created the most memorable movie villain in Jerry Dandridge.
Notice Jerry only seems to address Charlie. He somewhat respects Charlie as a potential slayer, where-as he treats Peter like a total joke until Charlie get's him in line.
@@fearmonger2208 Not all the people I've talked to since childhood forgotten it. Majority I've spoken to regarding this film says they've seen it. I saw the movie when I was only 4-years-old. The film been passed down from generation to generation since I know people younger than me who have seen it. Another vampire classic two years later called The Lost Boys is no different
I like this movie very much. Especially this scene,Jerry said that : Welcome to fright night and Mr Vincent ,It’s a typical example of English pronunciation teaching to me ...
The original is better, but I liked the remake. For one thing, the change in setting is brilliant. Las Vegas has a very transient population and a lot of people work at nights. It never made much sense for a cunning vampire to move into a quiet suburb like in the original.
On several faves lists for me, vampire flicks, 80s flicks, comedy-horror flicks. Favorite Chris Sarandon role, way more than Humperdinck from the Princess Bride. Love this movie.
Always have been curious as to how many takes they had to do when Dandridge (Sarandon) stood at the top of the stairs and said, "Wellll-commme ..to..Frrrightt !! Night" !!!! (seems to me it was difficult to keep a straight face during filming; still cracks me up to this day whenever l see it !!)... Thinking there had to have been a few outtakes !!
One trivia bit I love about this film is Sarandon wanted to whistle "Whistle While You Work" when first confronting Charley, but Disney is so ironclad with their properties. I would have loved that since Jerry kills for survival, not for pleasure.
Welcome to fright night , forreal🤣 Charlie was slapped, but the truth still stands in the word of God.. James 4:7 resist everything that they throw at you or tey to scare you with..Mr. Vincent learned about the true power of trusting in God when it comes to those darkforcee.. They can feel our spirit...😌 Classic movie
I ❤️ Fright Night….. fun fact: Johnny Depp, based his character Ichabod crane in Sleepy Hollow after Roddy McDowall’s character Peter Vincent in Fright Night…. 🧛you have to have faith ✝️ For that to work on me
Peter was scared of the vampire and did not have the power to fight him. Charley was a getting used to vampires. His cross actually glowed and that scared the vampire. Billy Cole was still human so holy objects did not affect him
Bro it said it in the movie if you don’t have faith it’s just wood that’s also why he was able to drink the water because it wasn’t blessed while with Charlie it did work with him because Charlie has faith
That laugh at 0:44 and his face: 🤣😃
Sarandon slayed this part. The most charismatic villain in a film since Patrick Bateman.
Pat Bateman isn’t charismatic 😂😂 he’s the opposite he’s an autistic guy who wants to fit in
Yeah, hos sarcastic he was towards Vincent LMAO But he knew Charley was no longer scared of him and had faith 😂
Yeah, how sarcastic he was towards Vincent LMAO But he knew Charley was no longer scared of him and had faith. Haaaaaaaaaaaa 😂
Since Patrick Bateman? Fright Night was out 15 years before American Psycho. 🤦🏻♂️😣😂
Along with David from The Lost Boys, Jerry is simply one of the coolest vampires in movie history. Charming, confident and intimidating.
1000% facts
Don't forget Brad Pitt's Louis.
I love how Jerry's primary emotion is utter amusement. He doesn't even deem them worth murdering lol after surviving hundreds of years of REAL slayers trying to kill him, he's confronted by a couple of jokers who THINK they're slayers in a movie.
But it was the "amateurs" that got him in the end.
@@gemmaraine underestimated the amateurs.
LOVE how CHARLEY has faith, and Vincent, the "great vampire hunter" didnt! HAHA
But Vincent did had faith and in part 2 Vincent actually killed the vampire win the sun

Younger people have more faith, we sometimes lose it, little by little, as we age, or more specifically ingest the world.
@FreymanArt
Perhaps the cross is the conduit for the faith. The faith works through the cross.
I love how after that he made him into a believer
Exactly. Jerry's arrogance was his downfall.
Common failing of the vampire in movies and books. I mean it easy to understand why they would be arrogant. He was both scary and comical at the same time.
Don’t forget sexy
"Oh,ho Really?"
Thank you Mr. Sarandon for giving me my catch phrase for business rivals who wanted to "get past me."
Still one of the best, coolest and sexiest vampires ever brought to film. And I'm straight ASF 😳🤣
Sarandon, that son of a bitch lol totally won the genetic lottery.
This movie was way ahead of its time
Yes
😉😁🥰❤️👍🏻❤️👍🏻
How do I love Chris- let me count the ways.
Mr. Vincent using the cross against Jerry: 😂
Charlie using the cross against Jerry: 😰
Notice Jerry only seems to address Charlie. He somewhat respects Charlie as a potential slayer, where-as he treats Peter like a total joke until Charlie get's him in line.
One of the best movies of all time. Very under rated.
Fright Night was not underrated, bruh. It was the second highest grossing horror film in 1985 behind Nightmare part 2
@@TylerHingleton But it's forgotten.

“Welcome to fright night…for real…” man I get the feels every time!
Me too - there's a lot of power in that one line :)
Still brings back chills since i saw this movie in 1985
same here
In theaters?
scary

grew up watching this vhs..classic
0:45 😂😂😂😂😂 “ho ho…realllllyyyy?”
This and the first Halloween and exorcist are my favorite month of October movies
0:45 LOVE this laugh reaction 😂
Oh realllyyy?
The best. Just a superb film on every level.
0:44-0:53
My reaction when some one tells me that the Fright Night remake is pretty good.
Ya man, I won't be watching the trash remake of a classic..."They" might as well remake Back to The Future
This one is way better.
Actually it is.
Is it as good as the original?
No.
But is it one of the better remakes out there?
Yes.
@@MrImastinker you do have a point. In terms of remakes, the one with Anton Yelchin was pretty good.

Much better than the remake.
*slams the door and escapes* how rude!! leaving Charlie alone with two vampires....
Great casting!! ❤️ Roddy McDowall in this....Peter Vincent...Peter Lorre plus Vincent Price very clever! RIP
I actually say "or really" in the same way he does whenever I can!! In HOMAGE to this movie..
0:45 you can hear Jack Skellington’s laugh and in his voice

Chris was always so handsome. ❤️😁
The greatest evr
Fright 😱 Night 🌃 (1985) is Rated R in red. ❤️
Ok he’s a cool vampire 🧛♂️ I admit and the evil laugh was amazing 🤩 but did just moan like Patrick 🤨
Always wondered how they moved the entire Marsten House from Salem's Lot to some suburb of LA. Jerry and Barlow must have been old friends.
One trivia bit I love about this film is Sarandon wanted to whistle "Whistle While You Work" when first confronting Charley, but Disney is so ironclad with their properties. I would have loved that since Jerry kills for survival, not for pleasure.
Coolest vampire is cinema history.
Fucking love this movie 😊hate that dam remake 😑 he is just prefect in even evil laugh 😈 just great

Yikes. Run. It’s Chris Sarandon. ❤
This movie is funny just alone from the scenes in which Vincent is scared. 😅
I didn't know what faith was but I figured it was powerful
I ❤️ Fright Night….. fun fact: Johnny Depp, based his character Ichabod crane in Sleepy Hollow after Roddy McDowall’s character Peter Vincent in Fright Night…. 🧛you have to have faith ✝️

The old one is faithless 😂😂😂
to be fair, he used to be an ape
Why would you tell them to have faith, now they know.
he's arrogant.
this.. faith thing... supposedly it doesn't come easy.
Man he really should have relocated to an atheists' community...
Any real Vampire Expert would already know that you need to have Faith for the Cross to work. Evil Ed told Charlie earlier in the movie
0:45 after MCU She-Hulk told her cousin she’s better than him at controlling her anger after getting cat called😂!
She didn't say that, if you paid attention.
1:48 just two roommates and some PDA 😉
1:29
The 1st time Vincent entered the home, a coward entered. When he entered the home a 2nd time, a hero entered.
Are those two lovers? 🤣
For real?
"Oh REALLYYYY?"
Great movie of the 80s. What was the servant though? Zombie or something like that?
"FOR REAL"... haha
When i was a kid i thought he was not afraid of wooden cross and he only afraid of golden cross😂
👤💬The Rock could .......🗣be a problem
👁👁 how are things with you and Antonio and the getting along?
🤗😉☝️😌👍✌️
Jerry Dandridge was a troublemaker. He slept all day, stayed up all night, and he was a pain in the neck.
Oh REALLY?
i know a guy who reminds me of Jerry😳
Why does his familiar give me John Ritter vibes
How come peter's cross didn't affect Chris,but charlie's cross does I don't get it.
Peter didn't have faith, Charlie did. The cross was a symbol (and weapon) of what each disbelieved or believed at that moment.
Vincent is an atheist. Sorry. Charlie believes in God and therefore the holy symbol works.
The Cross isn't what hurts Vampires, it's the Faith the person has channeled through the Cross that does it.
What if he accidentally bit his tongue
1:40 in 1985 it’s a moment that a ghoul protects his master. But in 2022 it’s a gay moment 😂
We need a remake❤
There was a remake. It wasn’t very good.
