I hate to be that guy, but when talking about network speeds, it's always bits and not bytes. So you're getting 300 mega bits/s or 300Mbs and not 300MBs. If you were getting 300 megabytes, then you'd have 2400Mbs service which is next level stuff (that's over 2 Gigabits/s). I have this same setup and I'm loving it so far. AX is so much of an upgrade over AC wifi. I have two XT8 nodes mixed with two eT8 (wifi 6e) nodes. It's pretty awesome.

    Thanks for the review ...
Just received the XT8 from Amazon today after sending back the ET8 when, much to my disappointment, the performance of the new 6 GHz WiFi band on it turned out to be largely a bust.
As the 6 GHz band range was way too short for a reliable wireless backhaul or fronthaul connections to clients. So returning to the common 2.4 and 5Ghz bands with the XT8 hoping for better result. ....
    The XT8 was also over a $100 cheaper than the ET8 too ... 🙂 ...

      Oh fine ....
The only thing I notice is that when I tried to get out cheap by using an old router setup as a WAP in a detached garage. It didn't play well with the two Asus XT8 nodes in the main house which are connected in an Aimesh configuration of course. Most of the clients here (predominantly Smartphones) want to stubbornly stay connected to the much weaker signals from one of the XT8 nodes when roaming to or sitting in the garage which has about a 20 dB stronger WiFi signal from the available WAP I installed there..
It seems I'm going have to buy a third Asus XT8 node for the garage to connect by Aimesh to the other two XT8s in the house so clients will appropriately switch to it when there. ...

Hi. Ive been between the Asus , Orbi, or the eero. Not sure which one I want to go with. Have you tested any other routers and how are things going with the Asus. I have read bad reviews on the Asus. Thanks in advance!👍

Hi! After the latest firmwire update I had to reset it once after that it has been smooth sailing. Supposedly the "top of the line" Orbi is the best but not much better than the ASUS XT8. I got a good deal during the holidays. Orbi is not worth the money. I have not tested other routers. To save time I looked at a lot of reviews and combined the results together and ASUS XT8 was the best choice overall.

Well had this for a few months chose it for easy install and huge range for each hub or node, I live in a small end terrace house and found that my internet providers Wi-Fi router had gone rather weak in range.
1st set up was a pain not at all like the ASUS click and play video
    2nd yes it’s working hub on ground floor 500mbs 1st floor 210mbs 2nd floor 100mbs great.
Couple months all ok not a single hiccup.
Told Wi-Fi a bit weird on 2nd floor
3rd Wi-Fi on 1st and 2nd floor now show yellow light weak signal. Even when placed them 1 metre apart still weak not happy where’s the signal strength gone to.
Why does Wi-Fi die in this house

Hi, Are you still running in Wireless backhaul setup? I switched to Wired backhaul to take advantage of the second 5Ghz-2 radio so I could use it at 160Mhz. I'm trying to find out if it's possible to use the 160Mhz band in Canada with this router. If you have information about this please let me know.

Does the setup software have a "VPN client" feature where the router connects to your VPN subscription and automatically directs all traffic through that VPN provider? My old ASUS modem/router does but I'm struggling to get any info on this for these new mesh systems.

Do you know if you could add another node? My internet connection is in the middle of my house where I will put one router, my media room (like yours) is at one end of the house and my garage (where I also need a good wifi signal) is at the other end so I would really like a 3 mesh system.

As I first have to connect a notebook or PC to the gateway (a BGW320-505) by ethernet cable. Then do a number of steps to place the gateway in "IP Pass-through" mode (the closest equivalent it has to a true bridge mode).
Then disable both the gateway's internal firewall and all its tri-band WiFi radios. ...

Beat my head against the rock that is this router. The new app UI doesn’t automatically connect you to Bluetooth. You have to select the device from a list. Its the ZenWifi AX. Although this is the XT8, that option doesn’t show. There is an XT9 option, but it won’t work.
Also, the Ethernet cable they gave us was bad so when we finally found the right setting it wouldn’t connect to the internet. We swapped back to the Spectrum Yellow cable and it connected just fine.
