7 years later and I get to see the meeting of my favorite host and I tapped the video on accident. Happy. I just love the energy Olivia brought to the videos 🥰
I Googled Olivia and found this - what I think was her first appearance on SciShow. Look at all the positive comments about her. What happened? Personally, I think she's a wonderful, charming host for SciShow.
I had to share this to all the Olivia Haters at present (1/24/17) comment section. She is soooo pretty especially when i saw her actually smile and giggle. My GOD!!! I melted
One of the better SciShow Talkshows! I can't believe it's been over three years since they started that's crazy! But I'm very glad to see Stump Hank back (because they usually stump me) and I hope you can go on location much more.
+bodies Why would I want them to influence a few, of which about half are bound to not even pay attention unless test topics are discussed, when they can influence millions on youtube?
bodies Both jobs done with diligence, especially teacher, usually leave little time for the other. But you are right. They can do both. My mistake for assuming it's either one or the other.
My goodness, this was equally an educational and entertaining episode. When that millipede pooped on Hank and he jumped -- that was extremely funny. Thank you for the replay.
Just to let everyone know, Hank' s married. I think his wife Catherine might object to some of these comments XD Awesome video as always scishow, can't wait to see more of the insectarium!
+Caitlin Shelbourne The question is, is Olivia married though? And if so, where do I meet such awesome girls like her? Yep, I'm that kind of person who thinks intelligence is sexy. And it's because I'm stupid. Yep. #Kappa
This video was really insightful. I now have a newfound interest towards insects. And that's coming from a person who is absolutely terrified by them. Also, Olivia is wonderful. She's a great addition to SciShow! :)
This is amazing!! I love seeing the critters I work with on Sci Show! AND in January there WILL be an Insectarium on the internet. Im part of the team at Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory (Cambridge, ON, Canada) developing Virtual Field Trips and digital learning. We're still starting up, but this video makes me SO excited to join all the passionate arthropod educators ou there!
Very nice indeed.. thanks guys for the invertebrate/entomology vid! Oliva certainly makes it more approachable to people who don't give much thought to insects. All the best !
I am skittish about bugs so I thought I'd be terrified (especially of the giant millipede), but it was actually really interesting and I ended up watching the whole thing! You guys should do a part two!!
Loved this, I could watch her bring out different bugs all day long! And I don't even like bugs! But she's passionate and cool and this video was very well made!
Extremely interesting! It may make more people respect insects. Most people don*t think about insects very much. At least that has been my experience. It does seem people have missed out on learning about how they live and survive. I hope we can all see more of Olivia Gorden.! She is an excellent teacher! She made me want to learn more!
when I first clicked this video I thought, "this is probably gonna suck, 20 minutes about bugs yuck" then when it was over I was thinking, " aww I wanna see more!!" loved it guys, keep it up!
I have 5 blue death feigning beetles and they've never played dead. I know I'd burst into tears if they even faked being dead so I make sure to keep them as comfortable as possible. I rarely take them out. I really liked that this show covered more than just insects but all sorts of "bugs". I really really enjoyed this. Very informative but also very fun.
I learned so much from this! I live in the Southwest, but I'd never heard of death-feigning beetles. I'm definitely familiar with Scolopendra heros, though. One crawled out from under my PC tower recently. Knowing that they're the most dangerous creature in the Insectarium makes me feel I made the right choice in squealing and running away!
this one was really good, I think you should take more field trips! its interesting to see the ppl in their workplace and mess around with their toys/pets.
+ShadeSlayer1911 Are you sure the world can handle so much awesome in one place? (Then again, it's already shown it can handle Emily Graslie and Anna Goldman working together.)
Nillie Let's have all three meet. If I recall correctly, Anna has interests in insects as well, so it's even better. Let's be honest: the world could use that much awesome, and then some.
Sorry to say but I only started watching SciShow Talk Show this week! Been watching SciShow for yonks though! I feel I've missed out...yay binge-watch!
nothing wrong with him expressing himself openly ... good first step to getting that companionship he wants is honest communication, bet girls are super impressed with your memes
Well it is nice to know who I lost that internship to. Seriously I applied to the same thing, didn't get it, likely a different time then you did. Great job with getting it.
Wow. That was over 20 minutes? I was wondering why Olivia wasn't bringing out the next bug and then the video wrapped up. I think the Blue Death Feigning Beetles were my favorite ones to see. I wasn't aware there were beetles that play dead. I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised as a lot of other animals use that defense as well. Thanks for the great show! I don't know if Olivia will see this, or perhaps Hank knows: I live in upstate NY and twice I found rather large beetles as a kid. They looked similar to ladybugs, but with more of a light orange exoskeleton. I think they were about the size of a quarter. One had no spots, and I'm pretty sure the other one I found had two placed symmetrically adjacent to the center line where there wings fold under. I found them both at my grandmother's house within a week, and have never seen them again since. That was probably about twenty years ago now. If anyone knows what they might be I'm curious.
+Phil Ferrara Well, i live in a different country, so no local info on your particular beetles, but just so that you know beetles (aka coleoptera) make about a third of the animal species in the world. So the variety is huge. There are even marine beetles, and ones that live 99% of their lifes inside trees.
svankensen Yes I'm aware they're the most common variety of species on the planet. I was just curious if anyone knew about the ones I described in particular as they were remarkably large and I've only ever seen two of them, both within the same week. Thanks for the response anyway though.
ok this video makes me even more mad at all the hate in the videos with Olivia as the host in scishow because you see here just how cute, nice and intelligent she is but everyone is hating on her for her look(witch I love) but even if you don't is no reason to hate on her! I hope scishow keeps her
Bring her back! Bring her back! Bring her back! No seriously, this girl is amazingly beautiful, witty, and intelligent. I could watch an entire podcast from her. In fact, maybe you should uhh, ya know, make a podcast with her every month or so. (*cough*, every week, *cough).
+UNIVERSE We have a longer version of this video that we'll put up on our Patreon page! We put bloopers and and behind the scenes videos up there once a month. Thank you!
I can see why they hired Olivia. :-) She's pretty awesome.
And pretty "PRETTY"
I'm watching this four years later and see where Hank meets Olivia before she becomes part of the team. That is very cool.
Olivia should have her own channel where she talks about insects, id love to watch it!
She was always a favorite on SciShow, she's missed!
i want to give more than 1 thumps up.
Its a great video. and i would love to have a job like ur s Olivia Gordon.
+Königliche Kokosnuss We'll give your comment a thumbs up, so it feels like two thumbs up. :)
+SciShow 😂 good idea 💡
+Königliche Kokosnuss
I feel the same way. So much excitement in this video and so much to learn.
+Königliche Kokosnuss I'd rather be impaled and garroted than have her job (entomophobia), but still loved the video and hope they do more! :)
I am sensing another Brain Scoop situation. Because I would watch this series.
+Matthew Prorok Oh yes, absolutely!
+tigersfan61979 my thoughts exactly!
+Matthew Prorok yes!
+Matthew Prorok Funny you should say that. I thought Emily would have been great in Hanks place as the interviewer.
+Matthew Prorok and at the end if each episode, Olivia says, "it still has poop on it"
"Cracked her exoskeleton?" That sounds extremely painful. That's the first time I've ever had sympathy for a spider.
It can be fatal in spiders, especially large ones like tarantulas.
i was so sad when it was over :/ one of the best sci show talk shows ever in my opinion :)
"you just flicked your own beetle". - Now that sounds like a euphemism.
glad it wasn't just me which picked up on that haha
+montyfacker The internet has ruined my mind.
montyfacker
the internet has fucked with my mind
I could listen to her talk FOREVER.
Please tell Olivia Gordon that I love her restaurant!
+Mark Russell You win the thread.
THAT.
THAT WAS GOOD
+Mark Russell That was possibly the funniest dad joke I've ever heard/read! You win!
heee
haha took me a minute
I had to share this to all the Olivia Haters at present (1/24/17) comment section. She is soooo pretty especially when i saw her actually smile and giggle. My GOD!!! I melted
Shanne Kirby Sta Maria sascxv cx.
Please bring her back! Olivia was an amazing guest.
Aaaand she became host for the next 4 years!
This was amazing!! i want to see her again. her attitude is awesome.
omg, seeing olivia smiling and laughing definitely made my day
More of her and more of this place, this was awesome!
Yay! Olivia. I don't often watch SciShow Talk Show, but now I get to see her on SciShow a few times a month
One of the better SciShow Talkshows! I can't believe it's been over three years since they started that's crazy! But I'm very glad to see Stump Hank back (because they usually stump me) and I hope you can go on location much more.
I
who else wishes these guys were teachers? I wished we could be as good!
+bodies
Why would I want them to influence a few, of which about half are bound to not even pay attention unless test topics are discussed, when they can influence millions on youtube?
+Razzfazz87
They can do both. :)
+bodies They are teachers! Every video is a lesson!
bodies
Both jobs done with diligence, especially teacher, usually leave little time for the other. But you are right. They can do both. My mistake for assuming it's either one or the other.
You learn more from them on the internet then being forced into some shit school.
So much knowledgeable enthusiasm - you rock Olivia!
One of my favorite SciShows by far.
I could so listen to her talk for hours O.o
Definately the best scishow talkshow so far!!!!!!
My goodness, this was equally an educational and entertaining episode. When that millipede pooped on Hank and he jumped -- that was extremely funny. Thank you for the replay.
i could have watched hours of this, the two of them had such great chemistry, and the video was so informative and interesting!! more please!!
I really like things like this because it helps me get over my fear of bugs
I don't usually like Scishow Talk Show, but this one was incredibly amazing!
My first thought after the intro was "Holy cow, they found the female version of Hank..."
And she's awesome!
yes!
I thought I’d seen all of scishow, scishow talkshow and tangents but youtube decides after 7 year to serve me this gem? wonderful
This is amazing. Interesting. Please more episodes of this!I want to see more of these amazing creatures!
Just to let everyone know, Hank' s married. I think his wife Catherine might object to some of these comments XD Awesome video as always scishow, can't wait to see more of the insectarium!
+Caitlin Shelbourne Same thing happened when Emily from brain scoop came on. People were shipping them like crazy.
+outsideclock I guess I should also make a reply so you can have even more excitement.
+Caitlin Shelbourne The question is, is Olivia married though? And if so, where do I meet such awesome girls like her? Yep, I'm that kind of person who thinks intelligence is sexy. And it's because I'm stupid. Yep. #Kappa
LordDragox412 Subjectively, I find you a white knight. You're only feeding the troll.
+Caitlin Shelbourne Well, this episode was sooooper flirty. I hope The Katherine got a good giggle out of it like we did.
This video was excellent! I'd love to see Olivia come back as a guest, or to see her start her own channel. More people need to be educated about bugs
This video was really insightful. I now have a newfound interest towards insects. And that's coming from a person who is absolutely terrified by them.
Also, Olivia is wonderful. She's a great addition to SciShow! :)
Would love to see more of Olivia, she's got a good camera presence, and seems very genuine. Hank and staff, can you make that happen?
Extra footage/video on this, please? Bugs are awesome. She's awesome.
this was so good to watch! she felt like such a natural and it makes me want to know about more bugs and others!!!
I really enjoyed this episode! I would love to see Olivia Gordon on the show again!
How about twice a week as a host
She is so cool.
Olivia Gordon is Ace! I really like this episode! Hank is a smart cookie!
The comments here are so nice compared to the recent sci show ones
hypocrisy at its finest...
I had no clue this is a Missoula thing! Hometown love!
What a fantastic video, I really hope that SciShow does another episode with Olivia. 'u'
That was fantastic ! I didn't expect to watch it all the way through and yet... Super interesting and entertaining ! You should go back there guys :)
Very nice indeed.. thanks guys for the invertebrate/entomology vid! Oliva certainly makes it more approachable to people who don't give much thought to insects. All the best !
I really liked this episode. You guys should go on location more, like zoos, planetariums, museums, excavations, national parks, etc.
I am skittish about bugs so I thought I'd be terrified (especially of the giant millipede), but it was actually really interesting and I ended up watching the whole thing! You guys should do a part two!!
I think this was my favorite SciShow Talk show yet.
It's been a whole year. We need another visit to the insectarium! Also I want more Olivia Gordon. More on Scishow! More in my life!
I love that you're on site!
The chemistry between these two is amazing! So cute!
I hate bugs, but Olivia was so delightful that now I want to visit an insectarium. Great video!
Seattle's got a nice one, lit so the night-crawling bugs were active. Saw it years ago.
+Stu VS
Where? Is this at the Woodland Park Zoo?
I love the SciShow Talk Show
Loved that episode, so much interesting stuff.
She is just brilliant!
I clicked because of the thumbnail and ended up staying the whole time. She needs to have her own show teaching us about bugs!
Now that's a extremely good looking lady... also this is my favorite SciShow Talk Show so far!
I love just watching Hank geek out here 17:13 . "Woh, neat! Ha, I love Bugs."
wow this episode kept me excited all the time, i think some part was because she was excited to show things :D
more please :)
this is my favourite episode yet.
I thought it said "olive garden" and I damn near shit myself.
Are there Zach Anner fans on this channel
Honestly you could make this a regular thing like once a year or something, you can't ever learn enough about bugs, and Olivia is a badass!
Oh, man, insects terrify me, but Olivia Gordon is the coolest! I love it when people are passionate about things that are misunderstood.
Loved this, I could watch her bring out different bugs all day long! And I don't even like bugs! But she's passionate and cool and this video was very well made!
She's adorable
Thirsty arn't ye?
Paris Hilton
not at all
+Paris Hilton I prayed for you babe, hope you are better :(
Great Scott! She reminds me of Ally Hills!?!
Extremely interesting! It may make more people respect insects. Most people don*t think about insects very much. At least that has been my experience. It does seem people have missed out on learning about how they live and survive. I hope we can all see more of Olivia Gorden.! She is an excellent teacher! She made me want to learn more!
This was an excellent video! I hope we get to see more of her and her creepy crawlers again!
when I first clicked this video I thought, "this is probably gonna suck, 20 minutes about bugs yuck" then when it was over I was thinking, " aww I wanna see more!!"

She was awesome, more of Olivia!
Great episode! Really cool bugs, and Olivia is very charming.

Olivia
Loving this talk show, some more on location stuff would be pretty cool

Emily should meet Olivia. I think they would get along well. They even have some similar mannerisms.

Let's be honest: the world could use that much awesome, and then some.
I had no issues with the leaf- and bark-like arthropods, but the millipede gave me the shivers
Definitely worth another visit for more bug videos. :)
Loved this.
Sorry to say but I only started watching SciShow Talk Show this week! Been watching SciShow for yonks though! I feel I've missed out...yay binge-watch!
Olivia is adorable :>
She is beautiful & has a beautiful mind, topped off with a beautiful personality.

Great show.
I'm watching this for the third time because I need more!
Great video. More people like her!
Well it is nice to know who I lost that internship to. Seriously I applied to the same thing, didn't get it, likely a different time then you did. Great job with getting it.

Maybe members of the chrysomelidae family? Some look pretty similar to ladybugs.
This girl needs her own show ASAP!

MORE PLEASE
I'm curious how you determine when those death feigning beetles actually die.
scishow.. keep it up with the amazing content! but please make a behind the scenes sometimes, that'd be cool!
