I've always found the difference between the IMDb top films and the Letterboxd top films interesting. With IMDb, the first foreign film comes in at number 21 with Seven Samurai. Within the Letterboxd top 21, there are 12 foreign films; 57% of the top 21 films on Letterboxd are foreign (more than half) compared IMDb's 4%.

The Railway Man
Unforgiven
The Zoo Keepers Wife
How The West Was Won
Hot Sun
The Colour Purple
Bells On Their Toes
To Kill A Mocking Bird
The King’s Speech
Thanks
I knew Shawshank Redemption would be #1 my favorite movie. If your ever in Mandsfield Ohio take a tour of the prison where some of it was filmed very cool
Who the hell compiles these lists I am mad as hell Weekend at Bernie's is not even mentioned>
I will never understand why is Pulp Fiction such a high rated movie
Because it’s a masterpiece
Me either. It is unwatchable.
It's a great movie I love it
@@LiamTaylor-fp6ee Because?
@@manish5755 Because?
Wtf are IMDB's expectations, whats a 10.0 movie then?
It’s based on an average rating
Let's talk about Tom Hanks
I lost it at Firefly Grave
THE TITLE WAS ALREADY CLEAR WHY NEED TO NAME IT TO FIREFLY GRAVE
The Goonies, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Alien, Aliens, Some Like It Hot, Sunset Boulevard, No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood, Casino, Witness, The Blues Brothers, Looper, Raising Arizona, Stand By Me.
Hell yeah Witness! Harrison Ford’s best performance imo
Where is Gone With the Wind? The Wizard of Oz? Ben Hur? The Sound of Music? All of these put a lot of your movies to shame.
That’s one of the big reasons why I prefer Letterboxd, I think it’s way more accurate. Imdb is definitely for mainstream moviegoers, the only reason I use it anymore is for TV shows
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly is a Foreign Film, i think...,#10, is an Italy Film
@@jtmmprints.r.l3529I wouldn’t go as far as to call speghetti westerns foreign (even though they technically are)
Forrest Gump wins best picture in 1994, beating out both Pulp Fiction and Shawshank Redemption, both of which rank higher on this list.
Shawshank Redemption 👌 but not commercially
The truth, I have not seen it, but I looked for it and the argument is really good. And being based on a Stephen King novel, that's a good sign.
@@karlasanguineti9328 you should see it, nice polite movie unlike Quentin's movie
Came out same year as Forrest Gump and Pulp Fiction.
Dr Stranglove ?
I'm Gen X so its fun to see how many of these i got to see in theatres when i was young (i think 13 of them) and also sad, because i know its harder & more expensive for people to see movies in theatres these days (including myself)
Das Boot.
Should be in it.
Jai Bhim has 8.7 but I couldn’t understand why they don’t mention anywhere internationally
Good list but I would put JAWS, BEN HUR and RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK in there somewhere.
Lol u guys
Theres is no should its based on the user reviews so there is no putting it between if that was the case i would have put return of the king in the number 1 position bit see i cant
Should say "most population films according to IMBD" as Casablanca tops most "best ever" lists.
Where are :
Titanic, Ben Hur and ET ???
Just to mention some.
More importants are The parasite and japanese animes
@@adammozsolics7097parasite was on this…
Nice list, my list would definitely have North by Northwest, Vertigo, Rear Window and Dial M for Murder in the top 10, alongside A New Hope, Empire Strikes aback and Casablanca.
My #one will always be Once Upon a Time In the West.
Yes, that is my number 1, best film ever made.
Chinatown? Ten Commandments? Ben Hur? El Cid? The longest day?
I think TITANIC is never want like IMD rating.. 😅 cuz it's already wins everyone heart..😍
terrible movie
@@dementedtimtam😂 lol terrible movie but you sat through the whole 3 hours
@@maiden5427 I hold the personal belief that a person may only criticise a film if they have watched the whole thing. The ending can sometimes fix everything but that wasn’t the case for the titanic
@@dementedtimtam What didn't you like about the movie
Did I miss The Wizard of Oz or is this list really that trash.
O poderoso chefao e clube da luta, pra mim sao filmes ok
Kkkkkk
Kkkk ta bom
Pelo menos tem um filme br na lista do top 50 do imdb
There's some movies that always go to the top of the list whenever you hear about favorite movies. Each one of us have our favorites and it makes a big difference on how old we are and how long we've been watching movies. Myself as far as really great movies I have to showcase; Schindler's list, Ben-Hur, Godfather 1 and 2, Forrest Gump, Space Odyssey, Casablanca, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Lawrence of Arabia, Titanic at the top of my list. So many great movies have been made over the years and I've been fortunate enough to see most of these on the big screen when they were first released.
I wish the Train was included ,Burt Lancaster, also Heat of the night.
Good choices!
Dark knight is overrated af
Shawshank... #1... Yes!!!
It doesn't deserve that place, it's just a good movie
@@PolishGod1234 aperantly it does because it has the highest rating and it is what people love. Are you dumb?
@@darkorange5164 just because people like it doesn't make it the best movie objectively. It's just a standard "feel good" movie which main premise is to make people emotional
@@PolishGod1234 no body said nothing about "best movie objectively" it is just the best rated movie on the website. Why are you so hot to prove people wrong? You are boring
@@darkorange5164 you clearly touched the subject that there are objectively no best movies, so don't try to pretend you didn't. For some reason I can't see your first comment now, I can blame UA-cam for that
