That's Marlin Perkins' legacy. He was reptile curator there in 1928 and after a few years went off to other zoo other jobs. He returned in 1962 as the Zoo director, and in 1963 he began filming "Wild Kingdom" . Side note: He was envenomated 3 times in his career, by a Timber Rattlesnake, a Water Moccasin, and by a Gaboon Viper.
Did you call ahead or do you just show up?I have been to St. Louis Zoo many times. It is my second favorite next to the Ft. Worth.I've been lucky enough over the years to get behind the scenes tours of Ft. Worth,Dallas,Memphis,Knoxville,Gatlinburg Serpentarium,TN Aquarium,Central Florida Zoo,Columbus OH,Louisville Zoo,Birmingham Zoo and of course I worked at the Nashville Zoo for two years.Great video.
@Keithattal5 I don't know the origion of the "the peanut gallery" term just means onlookers....He always seemed to be watching what I was doing. Yes, the videos are already out there with other head bobbers.
Hell yeah ViperKeeper here in st louis how awesome. Our zoo is #1 I was gonna send you a message ViperKeeper asking if you have seen our Reptile house and what you thought of it.

Absolutely fantastic looking zoo. I'm definitely looking forward to the next parts.
I love the St Louis Zoo. One of my favorite places to visit.
Thank you so much for sharing! The San Francisco Zoo didn't have a wide variety of retiles last I looked. I got to watch them all now. :-)

Thanks for the video very nice place//////
I love turtles! Though I have no luck with my own. Babies can be so stubborn to eat. I once had a box turtle that would only eat canned sweet corn. :/
II love the Herp! One of my fave places in the zoo!!! I am more of a frog, toad, salamander person.
