I love Prokofiev with all my heart. Have since I was 4 years old. I have never before heard this concerto given forth with such clarity, genuine emotion and a connection and intent so thorough and soul deep among all the musicians on that stage. Alexander Malofeev's greatest gift is to bring out the best, not only with his own performance, but of those performing with him. What a gift he is to everyone who plays when he plays with them! I love the combination of the strict adherence to rhythm coupled with the unbelievable clarity and power, and yet the "dancy" parts really swing, they never feel forced, congrats! I will be rewatching this quite a few times!
IMO, This performance is one of the best No 3s on UA-cam. Mr Malofeev truly captures the "rhapsodic" elements of this most wonderful concerto. The clarity of his duo hand passages are just so excellent. Kudos to this wonderful orchestra filled with so many 1st rate musicians, and an inspired and attentive conductor. The 2nd movements theme and variations are captiured with humor and expressiveness. What a pleasure it has been to watch this pianist grow from technical wizard to a consummate MUSICIAN of the highest order. BTW, his performance of the Prokofiev Toccata (an encore from his excellent Rachmaninoff Piano Concerto #2) is not to be missed.
It seems to matter not which composer Alexander plays the results are always amazing. Perhaps we are seeing the next Rachmaninoff coming to the fore in this the 21st Century. An unbelievable young man filled with talent, love for music and an inspiring pianist!
This was just wonderful. Soloist, conductor, and orchestra all wonderful. Malofeev is a very special individual. The clarity and precision is paired with a unique and insightful interpretation. Bravo!
I have liked almost all comments here as I share the same feelings and reactions with many on this concert. I am just thankful that Alexander followed his heart to become a pianist at an early age. No wonder he is great now. He has already captured my heart with his performances and will continue on cheering for him. Bravo! Alexander worked well with the conductor and the orchestra.
I love this conductor! His broad smile and boundless energy convey that he is thoroughly enjoying himself. Together, he and Alexander bring much needed youthful enthusiasm to classical music.
Nézet-Séguin,Järvi and Sladkovsky are my favourite conductors because they are so involved with the soloists ,which I think is reassuring to young musicians like Alexander.
Bravo!! Beautiful performance by Alexander and also the Philadelphia orchestra! Alexander is a sparkling gem in the world of classical music! He's also very polite!
Yannick Nézet-Séguin is doing a wonderful job, what a phenomenal director - incredibly sensitive - and so Alexander's art of playing can develop at its best. Tears in my eyes ... As if I had heard Prokofiev's Concert for the first time ...

Just when age is claiming our great pianists, along comes this amazing young master to give us hope and gratitude. I cannot help thinking that this must have been like seeing a young Mozart perform. And aside from that to have the appearance to make Adonis envious is beyond amazing. Already his repertoire leaves one slack-jawed and awed. His renditions of pieces like Prokofiev concerti from memory are beyond belief. Not a single false note reminds me of Benedetti Michelangeli. Bravissimo!!!
Thank you Alexander for a mesmerizing performance, for transmitting, through your talent and hours of practice, the emotion and moving sounds this music was meant to elicit. I've never heard Prokofiev delivered so beautifully. The orchestra and director were also superb - you form a great team.
This was his performance at the China Competition of 2019. Correct? I'm still confused why he placed second. His was certainly the best for the entire competition. Well, I acquired an even greater admiration and respect for Alexander Malofeev because of the manner with which he walked away from that with his head up high and continued on with his studies and performances everywhere. He's a true hero in my book...a TRUE hero!
Seen comments referring to Alexander as a kid. Believe he is entitled to be called a young man at the very least. Not a "kid" well meaning it was but hope to see he gets that acknowledgement. He is not riding a bike.

BRAVO Alexander Malofeev!!!! Bravo!! Amazing performance!! -- and a wonderful orchestra and conductor Yannick! A brilliant performance by everyone! Bravo!
It is utterly incredible how you bring such weird music alive and meaningful. You,in plural, pianist, orchetra and conductor.
Ahhh he did it again. Brilliant! And the orchestra and director, I truly enjoyed. Music to my ears. Thank you all so much.
i have listen to this genial pianista since he posted a Chopin etude a few years ago, and have not stoped since then ! Clearly his progress is impressive! i hope I can watch him on live some day 👏👋
30:00 wow, Alexander had quite the following there in the concert hall. What a loud cheer from the audience! If I was there, I would be cheering loudly also! AMAZING performance by Alexander AND this amazing orchestra with conductor Yannick! Wow!
I can listen to this concerto 100 times, and every time, Alexander, your beauty and the beauty of your performance take my breath away.
Dear Alex, your talent is God given and you have respected that gift. Thank you Alex for making so many people happy in a world full of darkness and violence. And thanks to your parents as well. (Holland-europe)
Yes....one wonders about his parents. They must also exceptional be...
Bravo, Alexander! Brilliant Prokofiev, technically and emotionally.
It seems to matter not which composer Alexander plays the results are always amazing. Perhaps we are seeing the next Rachmaninoff coming to the fore in this the 21st Century. An unbelievable young man filled with talent, love for music and an inspiring pianist!
If he would just start composing.
@@christophershow1398 ..... No. He needs the time to keep playing and performing for us. A composer doesn’t have that kind of time.
No words except my sincere gratitude Alexander!
What a wonderful Christmas present for us all!
Thank you so much. Fantastic!
This was just wonderful. Soloist, conductor, and orchestra all wonderful. Malofeev is a very special individual. The clarity and precision is paired with a unique and insightful interpretation. Bravo!
Very unusual talent.I believe this is one of the relatively few whizkids who will become a big name in the future.
Wonderful hearing the Philadelphia Orchestra sounding as vibrant as ever!
Godina je 2024, vruće mediteransko ljeto, a ja i dalje uzivam u ovoj očaravajućoj Sašinoj majstoriji. Bravo, zlatni mladiću!
Alexander never ceases to amaze!!! Bravo to all!! Wonderful performance!!
How can anyone DISLIKE this genius?
Alexander is brilliant but kudos to the conductor, too!
2:49 that's so cute honestly
Simply outstanding❕
Thank You very much for letting us all hear and see this...
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Superb execution and a great understanding on how this difficult work is put together and the rapid changes of mood are especially well realised.
I totally agree with everything you had to say. Yes, Yannick is wonderful and so supportive of Alexander! Amazing performance by all!
PERFECT performance. Congrats!!!
Wow, the incredible precision and speed beginning at 6:40 ! What an amazing talent! I have never heard a finer performance of this concerto!
5:45....magic begins...Alexander...You have a Divine gift...your performance is admirable! Hope you are ok and one day you visit Puerto Rico🎶
This truly is PERFECTION!! What a performance by Alexander Malofeev! Also this incredible orchestra and director! Wonderful performance by all!
Whay is the orchestra?
WHAT orchestra??
Just when age is claiming our great pianists, along comes this amazing young master to give us hope and gratitude. I cannot help thinking that this must have been like seeing a young Mozart perform. And aside from that to have the appearance to make Adonis envious is beyond amazing. Already his repertoire leaves one slack-jawed and awed. His renditions of pieces like Prokofiev concerti from memory are beyond belief. Not a single false note reminds me of Benedetti Michelangeli. Bravissimo!!!
Superb...Bravo to all. and Alexander Malofeev will be a a huge star!
Thank you Alexander for a mesmerizing performance, for transmitting, through your talent and hours of practice, the emotion and moving sounds this music was meant to elicit. I've never heard Prokofiev delivered so beautifully. The orchestra and director were also superb - you form a great team.
Haven't finished watching it but I was already in awe. Amazing performance. ❤️
No, this performance was not part of a competition.
I was equally surprised, but things were not quite as they should have been in that competition.
Thank you Alexander for sharing this grandiose with us ❤️
Amazing pianist! Wonderful orchestra and director. This is a performance to watch over and over again. What a treasure!!
And I do!
Wow 🤩. Ya don’t see or hear THAT everyday. Fantastic orchestra and conductor .... what a kid!!! Always impresses !!
Seen comments referring to Alexander as a kid. Believe he is entitled to be called a young man at the very least. Not a "kid" well meaning it was but hope to see he gets that acknowledgement. He is not riding a bike.
@@notcomatose6602 .....I wondered at first, but I believe it was well meant, and just possibly a complement to his age vs. his accomplishment.
@@СергейОсокин-ы1к ..... he said he practices ten to twelve hours a day.
Started watching your videos a year ago with your Rachmaninov 3 Concerto; could not stop watching ever since, you truly are a fantastic pianist with amazing playing and a lot of talent.
