Hi and thanks for great video. I tried your solution for My Book Live Duo, but didnt work. My MBLD will not show up at all in Windows 10 anymore. I have it connected with ethernet cable directly from MBLD to my PC, so far I have tried every possible solution and used google to find a solution with no success. I think I have used 12 hours on this annoying problem. What are people supposed to do if we still have this problem?`I constant have green light and that means according to the manual that its working and is all good. I also tried looking up the ip to see if the macadress at the bottom of the MBLD disk appeared in the cmd using the command arp -a but it didnt. Automatic Network Discovery is also on. The Ethernet card on my PC should be set to automatic DHCP right? Any ideas tips on what to try I am out of ideas and solutions. May I ask where did you send your question to get help`? Thanks for making the video, much appreciated. Right now I am helpless because I really want to get access to all my backup data, are there any other solutions to get the data off from the HDDs`?

I can't express enough how much this saved me to get access to my old WD Cloud storage. the steps are a little different now. but the concept is the same - use a phone pin to press in for 5 seconds, right click to create a shortcut and then you have access to your files. I was so afraid that I had lost my files for over 10 years and now they're back! Thank you so much!
As with other commenters you have saved me. Recently installed a new router which couldn't find the MyCloud and none of the network diagnosis achieved anything. Your little trick worked first time. Many thanks.

The support person spoke to me about 30 minutes and I thought I should document it, so others don't have to talk to them that long. Actually I moved from the US to Japan last year and now I have to look at what I did in this video to use the thing again.
@kuekawa6164 I copied everything off mine last night, I'm going to dismantle it and put the HDD inside my PC case. (I'll let you know if the same files are accessible once it's inside my PC case.) I'll probably make it accessible on my home network via WiFi or LAN so I can dump photos, videos and documents off of phones and tablets. I don't see the point I'm using it as an external drive anymore if WD won't support it. again thank you for going through the effort to make the video and explain everything clearly.
So, this worked on my desktop PC. My new laptop does not have an Ethernet port, so I have to use a USB-to-Ethernet dongle. Can someone help figure out the ip address for the dongle, as well as the My Book Live?

What do you mean it is not supported anymore? If you buy your own cloud, you should never need any support other than asking how to work it or old parts needed for it. Are you telling me, the website your personal cloud creates for your personal use, through your cloud, still needs a link or help from another server on line to use it? And now they are telling you they will no longer provide the link you need in order to use it, just so they can make you buy another one from them?

I just tried this method and it doesn't seem to allow me to create a shortcut to access the files on the device. Would you know of a new method? Support and the old applications do not work as of June 2023 as said on the website unfortunately. I have probably around the same year as would its the WD MyCloud. Any help is most appreciated.
Hi, thanks for sharing. I also have the old version of WD My Cloud, and recently I found that I ca not access it via my Mac Book Pro or TV although it looks normal from the My Cloud device side (Blue light). Do you know whether your approach can also work for Mac? Thanks.
I tried the ethernet cable thing and it immediately made the wd mycloud available for file transfers for a while before disconnecting itself, but I also lost my wifi connection in the process.
It shows all the files in the UI it connect properly, but it still says windows can't access the IP adress... with error code 0x 80004005 :( I've tried IP adress and device,s name directly but, same error)
What can I do if the device isn’t connected to the internet. I haven’t used my wed cloud since moving house 2 years ago. I’ve followed the instructions and got a blue light on the device but nothing is showing in network.

Correct. You will not lose data.
So you didn't use the usb cable at all. You just reset it and used it over the network.

try using device name instead of ip address after //
POV - Sometimes it doesn't read the ip address as its dynamic by nature.
