Love how Jason gives Andy his props on his talent AND his personality and can relate. One of the best interviews so far. Definitely need Andy and Rodney in the room together
I'm only half way through this video and this is by far my favourite Hawk vs Wolf. I'm an old fart who doesn't skate anymore, but I appreciate the genius that is my countryman Andy Anderson. The interaction between him and Jason when talking about his emotions was an incredibly powerful moment.
Andy Anderson!!!!!!! My goodness. SO HAPPY that I watched this and locked in to every word. So much like Rodney Mullen. Making me cry tears of painful positive compassionate love and tears of joy. 🤍 Andy is now added to my awareness and my list of favorite sk8rs. Thank you Tony and Jason!!!! Y'all are unbelievable in the best way. 🤜🏼🤛🏼 Brad from Flint, MI
Seeing Andy be vulnerable and emotional when talking about Mark Waters was so pure. Real men show emotion. Props to him to for sharing what was on his heart. Love Andy for being Authentically Andy 🫶🫶🫶
This kid is an absolute treasure. One of the best podcast episodes I’ve ever listened to. I love seeing older guys cheer on and pump up young people, and its awesome to see a young guy respect old school so much. This is how men should be to each other. When our time is over we should be happy for and help out the next crop of young men
I've been watching since this channel started and this has been without a doubt one of the best, if not the best episode yet. I'd listen to Andy talk for hours. The kid is SO special. That was truly a pleasure to listen to. Thank you, guys. I love watching Ellis because it's honestly how I think most people feel, just awe and disbelief.
Andy I'm 6'6" 275 -300lbs lbs and I cry more than anyone, don't ever feel like you need to apologize to anyone for showing emotion. To me that emotion shows how truly awesome a person you really are, you care deeply for others and theres nothing more manly imo than having strong feelings for others and truly appreciate them in your life. Stay Blessed and Smashin it Brother from a fellow Canadian 🇨🇦✌🏽️ 💨
Such a sweet intelligent skater just exactly the same as Rodney Mullen, humble, polite and thinks inside, outside and around the box. Amazing to be alive that we have Hawk vs Wolf podcast and you guys have made skateboarding so expansive that even a sweet kid like Andy Anderson can be on your podcast and cry like a gentle giant of this thing called skateboarding. Brilliant show. Thankyou. Hello from Australia. 10 out of 10.
I know nothing about skateboarding. I am so far removed from the scene, a short of this kid was on my feed and it brought me here. Seeing someone share their genuine love and respect for skateboarding was the sweetest thing I've watched this year. Please have him again!
After Rodney’s episode, this one is my favorite. Andy is an amazing and rare human. His vulnerability makes him so real. Sidenote, it’s amazing to see Ellis happy. The interaction between he and Andy would have never happened previous to Jason’s sobriety. Very real and very touching Ellis.
42:10 this moment is so wholesome. It seems like Andy was a little overwhelmed the whole interview being in front of one of his heroes. Very cool and humbling to see.
such a nice guy and open, his brain is amazing, all the history, all he reminds, i mean he got a very good memory. my fav skater after i watched this video : ua-cam.com/video/-bpsHh5nwe4/v-deo.htmlsi=206XUAKOtZbgAzrs
I just wanna say, I wrote down several things you said Andy, and put them on sticky notes on my wall. I do that as part of my therapy, and journey through life over the last year. I was able to take down some older ones, and start fresh again with some of the things you said. So thank you for being who you are Andy and allowing yourself to feel things so emotionally. It's true what Jason said, and the first things my therapist told me, about feeling your emotions and allowing yourself the time to cry. It's very powerful and healing. I cry all the time dude.
Lol @ 6:26 Andy "oh I can wear my helmet then?" shot goes to Jason, Tony, back to Andy and boy that helmet magically appeared on his head fast!!...what the?? Lol so great!
This is what people are missing about the world right now. So caught up in the “shadow” side of humanity when history is also converging to produce human beings like Andy Anderson. You could use the word authentic to describe him and it wouldn’t touch what he is and what he’s sharing with the world. Truth is probably the better way to describe him. I have so much love in my heart for Jason and Tony. Jason’s ability to get vulnerable right there was nothing short of magic. Tony’s ability to stay curious, humble and passionate in spite of his mega stardom. THAT is true masculinity and true power that all young men should emulate. Andy represents the divine masculine, the evolution of the modern “renaissance man.” He’s the artist and the athlete. The scholar in action. Projecting his beautiful mind into the world with no sense of selfishness. At the same time nor does he pose as perfect. Because the imperfection is the container for the divine. I’ve blathered on enough, but thank you Jason and Tony. You will never know how much this show has meant to me. How it inspired me to start skating again after over 30 years away from it. How it’s helping me shed the 30 pounds of weight I gained over the last 3 years I’ve spent mostly cloaked in darkness and suffering. You guys were holding a portion of the light at the end of the tunnel. I am eternally grateful for the time and energy you put into this and into the community we all love. THANK YOU
I met Andy at a summer camp in 2009 when we were kids and he bombed the hill doing a one-foot manual. I went and asked for his name because I knew he was skating like nobody I had ever seen. He’s the nicest dude. Then I ran into him again years later at a grocery store and we talked about skating for like 15 minutes while I was supposed to be working. So happy to see his success
Of today's current skaters, Andy Anderson is definitely my favorite!!!!!!!!! One of the most unique skaters of all time! He literally reinvented the wheel, seriously, check out his product line. Super excited for this one 😁 Loving these comments... glad to see people know what's up!!!
As a father of 4 you are very wary of what famous people your children look up to. I’m so stoked that my boys are inspired by Andy. Hell he even has me learning to skate at 43!
This is probably one of the most emotinally riveting and inspirational people ive listened to speak in a long time. This dude's mindset and outlook on life transends skateboarding. This was an amazing interview. I dont even skateboard. Guy explains so well why you should give it your all when you want to achieve something.
Easily one of the best episodes ever to watch. Everybody was excited to talk to one another, Andy being able to kind of geek out with Tony, Jason helping Andy out. All just amazing. Please have Andy back again soon. We also need a Andy and Rodney meet up.
@mrwalter7768 I keep thinking about it... the game starts right after you make your character and do your first kickflip, an old future Andy shows up and says you are destined to be a legend, but first you have to learn. He takes you to a contest and you fail hard, then he takes you back in time to learn some tricks, then back to do the contest again. That is the cycle, and as you progress Andy gets younger until the final contest, named after the game itself, and you are competing against andy.... the whole game he was teaching you how to beat him
And the more you do tricks the more the lines for doing them show on your board, so playing the game is not just history but also physically teaching you how to do tricks in the real world
I feel like Tony & Andy are best friends after this. Great episode to all 3 of you guys! Edit- so much respect to Andy for wearing his heart on his sleeve, to Jason for opening up & trying to make Andy feel better about being emotional, and to Tony for being totally chill & just a standup guy during all of that. That was a powerful moment guys.
When Jason gives Andy his respect 1:13:55 (which he had been giving him the whole time) it made me realize why I love Jason more than I got before. He’s always a sweet heart but idk here, he’s himself, cocky, goofy, head-strong, and yet he always appreciates the good in life, the love, and just God in everything. It’s all love with Jason and he’s good at pointing out all the love in Andy. Tony hawk just exsist on that wavelength constantly. That wavelength being, be the person you can be all the time, and just love. Love y’all!
man...ive been going through such a hard time in life mentally for a few years now(since the lockdown) and ive been a skateboarder since i was 7 years old and im 44 now...and this podcast has really helped me get through some dark times...jason ellis you are an amazing human and i hope to meet you one day...and andy anderson you are such a treasure of a human being...this world needs you so much and i appreciate everything you do for skateboarding...you are amazing...and tony hawk....legend!!!!!!! love you guys and yes!! please do rodney mullen and andy anderson!!! please :)
As someone who listens to podcasts way too much, this is one of the best I have ever heard. The admiration but not over the top glazing is top notch conversation. Andy is authentic as they come.
Man, the the chemestry between the various personalities in this episode is just amazing. Probably one of the most entertaining pod casts I've seen, regardless of subject. Its litterally got everything.
So stoked i came across this! Something about seeing just how starstruck andy is being on here thats just so wholesome what a solid dude wise beyond his years for sure! Also after not seeing or hearing anythin from jason since listening to the old podcast 15yrs ago, dude has come so far glad to see his mental and spiritual health at this level now
Jason. Every time I’ve gotten really hurt on vert, I was 100% committed and believed I was going to make it. 😂 Three different incidents. Two broken bones and a KO. The KO was a backside boneless. They told me I clipped the coping going in, but as far as I knew when I woke up, I had made it. 😂
I have never seen nor set foot near a skateboard since I was about 6 years old, barely ever went near a Tony Hawks game on any platform and yet this guy coming across my feed has instantly catapulted him into my top 5 human beans on the planet. Must be the helmet……safety conscious is a thing when you’re 50. Big ups Andy Anderson thanks for this podcast it’s a sub from me.
How good is this young man for Skateboarding not just now but for decades to come! Hes got a genuine social conscience at the heart of what his gift and purpose in life is. Hes awesome.
Been watching Andy since he started popping up on NKA's channel years ago while I was in rehab, trying to get my life back in order. He was such a pleasure to watch then, and a major pleasure watching him conquer the hearts of all skaters. And this interview was top notch, Andy is truly a special human being, and the world would be a much better place with more Andy's in the world ❤ Amazing interview Boys
Much respect, I hope your recovery is going well! I struggled with opioid addiction for 11 years after breaking my neck and thought I’d never be free from that prison. I just celebrated my 3rd year clean!
Another classic interview - where the mutual respect and love was palpable. The empathy and stoke went to eleven on this one. Thank you all. Loved watching Jason’s look on his face as he was processing / visualizing some of andy’s trick descriptions
Didn't expect this from a skating interview. 45 min in and such an amazing interview. I love how these 2 different generations of 2 decades + are jiving together. Beautiful.
By far one of the best episodes of any skate podcast ever. Also best Andy interview Ive ever seen. Hes always an incredible guest but it felt like everyone brought the very best out of each other. Felt like sitting in on 3 quality lads truly having enjoyable, exciting conversation with no concern of themselves but rather a genuine and understandable fondness for the other two people in the room. (You could also tell just how relieving it is for Andy to have his part done and out, when you attack things with the passion and love he does, the relief of completion after personal satisfaction with the final product is unimaginable)
BEST VIDEO I’VE SEEN IN AWHILE. We need an Andy part2 and Mullen part 2 or even a colab with Andy & Rodney talking to each other. Their energy bouncing off each other would be insane to watch
Andy spinning on the center island on the Japan logo, while the Olympic logo then appears on the screen over him is an under appreciated moment for skating. The best of the best or a beginner can still just have the best time on a flat piece of land. Also, watch the interview with Macho man Randy savage about crying. "Cried a thousand times and I'll cry a thousand more..."
UA-cam algo strikes again. Don't know how I got here but I'm glad I did. As a skater in the 80-90's, it's something I haven't thought about too much as an older adult. It's so cool listening to how much the sport has evolved. And Andy's knowledge and passion is amazing. Watching him geek out with the GOAT is fantastic.
Look, I lnow next to nothing about skateboarding, but what I love is the sheer passion. Listening to folks get really emotional about the things they love is the most inspiring and connective thing. I can not stress enough how much good yall are doing for the sport, for the community and most importantly, for just every day people looking to connect! From Ian busting in to announce they dropped in again to Andy tearing up, this was an emotional rollercoaster of the most genuine vibes. I both liked and described to this video.
This was THE BEST INTERVIEW! Real, funny, deep, and fucking genuine, it means a lot seeing real men talk about real shit and flow off of one another. Bravo 👏
This was one of the Best Pods to date! This kid is so grounded, you can feel how much he really loves the sport! Ive never shed a tear ,watching a podcast before today!
Dude I came to this episode because of the shorts, this kid is so cool, thank you all for a great episode!!! New sub here. Wolf, wow, best advise on how to be a man. More men need to know that it is ok to feel and bottling it up is so unhealthy. Feelings are meant to be felt it's in the fucken name!!! People go through shit and overriding and ignoring isn't how you deal with trauma, acknowledge it and work through it, a good support system is key too, good friends and family NOT isolation. Much respect from NZ.
this guy lived in my neighborhood when i was younger and was always a genuinely nice guy to me whenever id see him around. glad to see he is successful
I have been skateboarding for about 37 years now and I am a huge fan of Andy’s talent, creativity, and seems he is a stellar human being as well. When I watch Andy skate, i get these visions of Marc Johnson, Ritchie Jackson, Patrick Melcher, Kevin Harris, Natas, Brian Anderson, and Mullen with a dash of Gonz being combined and struck by lightning to create a skateboarding enigma. Such a joy to watch and will be stoked to chat w/him when we ever cross paths one day out in the wild. Thanks for having him on Hawk vs Wolf y’all
This dude's a friggin' mad scientist on that board. Between the deck shape and grip tape map, it's pretty wild. Love this dude... best hot rod helmets in the game. The 60's kustom kar paint jobs... fantastic.

Yup.
Same
Ive been watching Andy for years and im always blown away at how genuine this dude is. No ego, no issues, just a love for skating. Hell yeah.
Andy Anderson!!!!!!!
My goodness.
SO HAPPY that I watched this and locked in to every word.
So much like Rodney Mullen.
Making me cry tears of painful positive compassionate love and tears of joy. 🤍
Andy is now added to my awareness and my list of favorite sk8rs.
Thank you Tony and Jason!!!!
Y'all are unbelievable in the best way.
🤜🏼🤛🏼

Andy just skating being late to the pod and y'all talking about him with footage of him practicing... Genuinely a cinematic experience and I loved it.
LMAO Ian Fidance interacting with Andy Anderson MY WORLDS ARE COLLIDING
Look at the post-interview skate sesh on ians episode, its great!
Right?! So fucking cool
Fucking love it!
We’ve all entered the Matrix together now 🕺🏽
Dude when did Ian become famous
Jason's facial expressions of utter disbelief while Andy is describing tricks is one of my favourite parts of this interview.
Same here
42:10 this moment is so wholesome. It seems like Andy was a little overwhelmed the whole interview being in front of one of his heroes. Very cool and humbling to see.
Andy is such a legend. So glad he has made it to where he is. He deserves all the flowers.
such a nice guy and open, his brain is amazing, all the history, all he reminds, i mean he got a very good memory. my fav skater after i watched this video : ua-cam.com/video/-bpsHh5nwe4/v-deo.htmlsi=206XUAKOtZbgAzrs
It’s heartwarming to see men able to feel emotion and not be chastised for it anymore.
Andy Anderson IS skateboarding...and i am here for it.
I cry all the time dude.
kinda genius my guy
Lol @ 6:26 Andy "oh I can wear my helmet then?" shot goes to Jason, Tony, back to Andy and boy that helmet magically appeared on his head fast!!...what the?? Lol so great!
The world needs a Andy Anderson Rodney Mullen interview.
Yessss !!
DUDE that would be peak skateboarding conversation
I loved seeing Jason giddy like a child. Andy is a breath of fresh air. Dudes like him give me hope for the youth of tomorrow
We should all be more like Andy Anderson
THANK YOU
Noticed I'm the 11th person to like this comment as a master number 11 but also Andy is a master number 33. Mullen is also an 11.
Right on man you get it. And welcome back to skateboarding. Two years ago I also got back into it after over 30 years away, so glad I finally did.
Super excited for this one 😁
Loving these comments... glad to see people know what's up!!!
Clever wheel line😂
As a father of 4 you are very wary of what famous people your children look up to. I’m so stoked that my boys are inspired by Andy. Hell he even has me learning to skate at 43!
If you don't know him, check out Mike Vallely. I love his tag line. Thrasher skate magazine says skate and destroy, Mikey V. says skate and create.
This is probably one of the most emotinally riveting and inspirational people ive listened to speak in a long time. This dude's mindset and outlook on life transends skateboarding. This was an amazing interview. I dont even skateboard. Guy explains so well why you should give it your all when you want to achieve something.
Man seeing Andy tear up a bit got to me, I’ll always have respect for this dude he’s such a kind and old soul and never fails to inspire.
Easily one of the best episodes ever to watch. Everybody was excited to talk to one another, Andy being able to kind of geek out with Tony, Jason helping Andy out. All just amazing. Please have Andy back again soon. We also need a Andy and Rodney meet up.
Agreed. I love how Jason talks to Andy throughout this episode. I could not take my eyes off this throughout the entire-almost-2-hrs. So so good. 👌
Listening to the girls giggle in the background throughout the episode made me smile
❤️
Hahaha me too!
I just finished this. I've commented 3 or 4 times. His ideas are so beautiful and benevolent. Im in stunned silence here at the end.
The passion in this kids voice had me glued. I don't know a thing about skating.
Imagine a video game where you skate with Andy and you travel through time to learn tricks from all those that came before in their iconic spots
Haha I really like that idea 😁
@mrwalter7768 I keep thinking about it... the game starts right after you make your character and do your first kickflip, an old future Andy shows up and says you are destined to be a legend, but first you have to learn. He takes you to a contest and you fail hard, then he takes you back in time to learn some tricks, then back to do the contest again. That is the cycle, and as you progress Andy gets younger until the final contest, named after the game itself, and you are competing against andy.... the whole game he was teaching you how to beat him
And the more you do tricks the more the lines for doing them show on your board, so playing the game is not just history but also physically teaching you how to do tricks in the real world
Shut up and take my money
This is an amazing idea.Hopefully a developer sees it and makes it
I love the new way the show is edited with the conversation going on in the background while showing video of something happening in the park.
Love y’all!
Were you familiar with Ellis when he rode for Powell? He's like a different (evolved) species now
seeing Ian Fidance completely entranced by Andy is exactly what skateboarding is about!!! Put a huge smile on my face
Best ever Hawk vs Wolf episode hands down. Thank you.
🙏
man...ive been going through such a hard time in life mentally for a few years now(since the lockdown) and ive been a skateboarder since i was 7 years old and im 44 now...and this podcast has really helped me get through some dark times...jason ellis you are an amazing human and i hope to meet you one day...and andy anderson you are such a treasure of a human being...this world needs you so much and i appreciate everything you do for skateboarding...you are amazing...and tony hawk....legend!!!!!!! love you guys and yes!! please do rodney mullen and andy anderson!!! please :)
As someone who listens to podcasts way too much, this is one of the best I have ever heard. The admiration but not over the top glazing is top notch conversation. Andy is authentic as they come.
❤️
On the other side, I’ve probably listened to 10 podcasts max, but this drew me in immediately. Top notch stuff.
Andy is one of the best people I've ever seen, so humble, emotional and well mannered.
Man, the the chemestry between the various personalities in this episode is just amazing. Probably one of the most entertaining pod casts I've seen, regardless of subject. Its litterally got everything.
Jason is so excited throughout the whole show, that's awesome
First time encountering Andy, what an authentic and fascinating guy. Thanks all. PS still stanning Tony’s silver hair
Andy is the skateboarding Avatar He combines all styles together
So stoked i came across this! Something about seeing just how starstruck andy is being on here thats just so wholesome what a solid dude wise beyond his years for sure! Also after not seeing or hearing anythin from jason since listening to the old podcast 15yrs ago, dude has come so far glad to see his mental and spiritual health at this level now
I'm not a regular viewer but I subscribe because it's effortless and it's helpful. Just do it yall.
Andy is just as important as Alva, Tony, Mullen, Gonz, Natas. Love him!
We need more people like Andy Anderson in this world.
Agreed.
Beautiful.
This is hands down the best anything I’ve ever watched. Movie, show, podcast, whatever. Best ever.
It is pretty F@ckin EPIC
By far one of the best episodes of any skate podcast ever. Also best Andy interview Ive ever seen. Hes always an incredible guest but it felt like everyone brought the very best out of each other. Felt like sitting in on 3 quality lads truly having enjoyable, exciting conversation with no concern of themselves but rather a genuine and understandable fondness for the other two people in the room. (You could also tell just how relieving it is for Andy to have his part done and out, when you attack things with the passion and love he does, the relief of completion after personal satisfaction with the final product is unimaginable)
Jason and Tony dealing with Andy talking bout grief and emotions was nice. Good skate Uncs
Jason's eye contact and honesty is absolutely what made this interview so fucking powerful. 41 min. in and i am choking. i love this.
Andy Anderson.. What a beautiful skillfull Man, Interlectually, Respectfull, Scientific and fundamentally Genuine human being.
I love Andy. Guy is so unique. Glad he is finally getting the love he deserves. Thanks, Tony and Jason. Much love yall
"Real men cry." Love that video
UA-cam algo strikes again. Don't know how I got here but I'm glad I did. As a skater in the 80-90's, it's something I haven't thought about too much as an older adult. It's so cool listening to how much the sport has evolved. And Andy's knowledge and passion is amazing. Watching him geek out with the GOAT is fantastic.
The best podcast ever. The highs 😊 and lows 😢 and everything in between! All Legends of the community!
A second one better be in the works!!!!! ❤❤❤
Thanks for having him on Hawk vs Wolf y’all
Andy is a very special person both as a skater and as a human being, he's taking everything to the next level.
This dude's a friggin' mad scientist on that board. Between the deck shape and grip tape map, it's pretty wild. Love this dude... best hot rod helmets in the game. The 60's kustom kar paint jobs... fantastic.
