OMG, I love your video. MBM has been one of my top five 'bands' for decades - I put 'band' in quotes because MBM isn't exactly a band ensemble but rather an electronic producer/artist who's collaborated with other artists. I discovered a lot more MBM music in '92 (yr i graduated high school). Was (still am) a mega industrial fan (skinny puppy & coil are also on my top 5). The djs at clubs would often only play Pscyche-out version 1, which is very dance oriented but not aggressive or heavy sounding like all the industrial i was listening to - jack's voice 'sex, drugs and rock and roll' in that version (i bet you have the single with two other different versions & radio Babylon). Then I was under the assumption all their work was similar to that one track till a friend introduced me to armed audio warfare (closest to an actual industrial album). OMG I was blown away by the sound. As you pointed out, he's experimented with different sounds/genres and is so much more than industrial. Jack's body of work is so vast and amazing. A true pioneer and master of electronic music. BTW, i have a tattoo of the image on dog star man single. Perfect for a tat of one of my all time favs, and iconic for die hard classic industrial & electro fans. Jack did a live set last year here in SF w/ this other guy - new colab work but can't recall if its been released.
My gateway drug into MBM was also "Strap Down". I was listening to WBER, a local community-run station when it came on and I was blown away. I waited for the DJ to back-announce what the song was, but that never came. So I called up the station's request line and said, "what was that song you played around 15 minutes ago that goes 'strap down, get ready, be refreshed'" and the guy says, "dude, I just got here". So I immediately called up the local "alternative" record store and asked the same thing. I was told, "you're like the fifth person who has asked about that song; we have two copies left." I was at the store 20 minutes later, and got the last one.
Fatboy has some excellent tracks, if you like that kind of stuff! Exit Planet Dust was first electronic record I ever bought I think, I read it was like "techno for headbangers" and liked the sound of that, ha. Still love that record
"Exit Planet Dust" is fun for sure. I don't mind the Chemical Brothers, I enjoy a lot of what they do. I think they're at their best when they produce straight up techno jams, their "big beat" stuff is a bit tired for my tastes.
Very happy to hear this! Since your channel popped up on my tube I revisited Skinny Puppy’s catalog and have been enjoying it a lot at work- looks like I have the next queue ready! 3 2 1 Drop Drop! Yeowargh!
Man I have not listened to Meat Beat Manifesto in ages !!!! Makes me think of thanksgiving day 1992, a girl friend and I had, lets just say we altered our minds, and spent the whole day playing Meat Beats Satyricon and SP's Too Dark Park over and over. I think we listened to the Cure some that day too,
So it begins... and I look forward to it! Like you said, there's so much to unpack with Dangers' work. Despite thinking I had heard everything that MBM put out, I actually wasn't privy to the stuff that they had released before Storm the Studio. I guess I have some digging to do...
Right on! I was wearing a Meat Beat Manifesto t-shirt the other day. I still have a bit of PTSD from all of the different names for God O.D., Genocide and Psyche Out. 😂
Nice...By the way, I own the same Perennial Divide record you've presented in the video, how about that...😁 I also have the "Storm The Studio" Sweatbox edition in CD and in vinyl, plus the "Strap Down" CD-EP with two versions of "Strap Down" and one of "Give Your Body It's Freedom"...I remember back in the day, listening this records in non stop mode 😂🤪👍👏🙏
You probably know this already but i recommend you to listen to Andy Partridge’s solo outing Take Away / The Lure of Salvage and the Go+ single by XTC. Those 2 releases pretty much sound like proto-MBM releases from a decade earlier.
I just pulled out all of my MBM records and I am in the middle of a meat beat marathon now.
Nice! I'm gonna keep making MBM videos for each album. Jack is a hero!

Thank you for watching! Can never go wrong with Jack's music, he's a master.

Pop Will Eat Itself sounds a lot like this album
Hmm, yeah, I can see similarities. I have some PWEI videos coming soon.

Ha, yes! I’m looking forward to talking about “Satyricon”.
This is awesome, thanks for taking the time! I think the shorter length vids is a good idea, more easily consumable.

I know! I plan on talking about that as I go forward with my MBM videos, Jack tended to borrow from his own catalog a lot.
ITS IN MY BRAIN NOW!!
