Look up the Cadillac Cimeron. Mid to late 80s GM figured go for a little extra moola and took the Chevy Cavalier, Pontiac Sunbird and whatever the Buick badge for the same body was and put a few more " luxury " features in,some additional gold colored chrome, slap a Caddy badge on it and then charge a Cadillac price for it. Bombed horribly because the target Cadillac demographic looked at it and said I can afford a real Cadillac and the ones that would have struggled to get into Cadillac level cars said why would I pay a premium sticker price when I can get the Chevy, Pontiac or Buick version with the same or near same features and still come away cheaper.
@lentzquest forgot the Olds badge as well. Late wife had Cavalier at the time we were just friends through the first couple years of marriage and my ride or die buddy for almost 40 years had the Firenza and the Sunbird through the late 80s and 90s.

This reminds me of the PC crowd buying $1,500 GPUs and other parts during Covid, so the companies are keeping those prices. Why change them back when you know people will be stupid enough to buy them for the exorbitant prices?
No you're exactly right if people keep saying that they'll buy it for that price that is the price it's going to be why do you think they did not tell us a price yet cuz they wanted to test the waters and see what price they could get away with 😠
Can't help, but feel it's psychological manipulation. People see the higher price and assume it's more valuable, so they buy it hoping to flip it for even more.
I don't disagree with what is being said here but the imports are out of control now too. They use to be $60 ish but Mafex and figuarts are $100 or more now. I can't make heads or tails on how s.h does their pricing. How is super Vegeta $35 while Saiyan saga is $100?! It's all a crap shoot these days. Glad I'm exiting the hobby at this point.
@@zforce4399 Yea the main characters are usually $35 (like Naruto, Goku, etc) while villains and other characters (like Itachi, Sasuke, Cell, etc) are more expensive
The gaming industry is also trying to set the new standard for the price of games at $100, starting with GTA 6. It's insane. I'm not going to reward them with my money.
Thought for a hot minute that this was the latest 12" Legends Spidey. If Hasbro thinks I'm going to pay fifty bucks for a Legends fig... as the old song goes, 'ya got another thing comin!'
WCBS and Anthony’s Customs are Star crossed lovers and I’m totally here for it!! You both turn trashing absolute garbage like Hasbro marvel legends into a high art form! 🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️👍
Imports have there problems as well. $80 for fragile parts and paint chipping. It’s slightly dishonest not to mention the downsides. One fall off the shelf and it may be over for that Mezco. Trust me I know….
There are somethings Im confused on, and this is in no way attacking the channel or creator. I am also not shilling for Hasbro. I collect both the Legends line, as well as the Black Series, as well as toys from other companies like Mafex. Are some of the figures overpriced? Absolutely! I mean we still get figures from time to time that are marketed at retail price when they come with nothing, not even accessories or effects. I personally think the Maximum Line has a chance to actually make Marvel Legends better than the state it is now. Has Hasbro's greed gone up? Of course, as it has with mostly every company. What items haven't gone up in price in past few years? Getting back to the discussion at hand, I can see why the alleged price point of $60.00 for a Marvel Legends is possible to upset some people. It's a retail store toy line, getting into that premium price point. I personally figured it would be $60, after all this is the most effort Hasbro has put into a single release besides Haslabs. The reason why items from Hasbro's toy lines end up at places like Ollies and Ross isn't necessarily because it's due to "Bad Disney" and "Bad Hasbro." They make toys of whats currently popular. There is a reason new releases still sell out on their websites. If they make product that excites people it'll sell out. Just for fun I want to do a price comparison of the leading choices for a classic Spider-Man figure. - Marvel Legends Maximum Series Spider-Man "$59.99" - Mezco Classic Spider-Man $120.00 - Mafex Classic Spider-Man $94.99 Not everyone can afford the upper echelon of figures, and I think that's what's important to remember. If someone wants to buy the new Spider-Man from Hasbro, let them. If you don't, dont. I personally think it looks pretty cool, and if this line doesn't die like other lines have then I am excited what other releases could be in a line like this.
The reason why ollies can tell the figures for cheapest, because their shelf space is only one third of what walmart charges vendors to sell their products in. Toy companies have to pay for space in the big box stores.
I stopped buying action figures in 2005, ran out of room. I now will buy ONLY if its something I Really want and have never had before and that is few and far between these days. NOTHING they are putting out now I would PAY the prices for.

While the price may be 60USD at the end, there's a couple of thing to know. First the site is a re/pre-seller, so the price might be jacked-up to compensate for shipping and/or taxes. Then its the fact that Marvel Legends in Mexico are more expensive here, a standard 25USD fig costed about 32.5USD until last year, now they are 35USD. Like I said, Hasbro could very well charge 60USD for this, but that price can't be translated to a US price that easily 😕
Hasbro just ended my collecting as it began. I’ve been living vicariously through UA-camrs wishing I had the time and money to work on a collection of my own. This year for my birthday I saved up some money and treated myself to two sets of the cobra Valkyries to start building my cobra army. The website claimed to charge me $115 but when I looked at my bank account they charged me $175. When emailed the customer service, they told me I was wrong…..called the bank I was definitely charged $175. I will no longer be buying hasbro products

@@collinkeyser6827 - $60 for an action figure that cost $3 to make it truly insanity at its best. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😜
A lot of assumptions and inacuracies in this video. I seriously doubt this is going to be $60 in any case.
parent better to buy them video game, or gift them 60 dollars to buy anything else, not for shitty toy
i'll just wait for Amazon to have it on a good discount
Meanwhile Storm Collectables is down scaling their Baki Figure with plastic shorts for 25 buckaroos
You either Stop being a Collector, or Live long enough to be Robbed by these toys companies' prices like this...
Oldsmobile Firenza was in there too.
@lentzquest forgot the Olds badge as well. Late wife had Cavalier at the time we were just friends through the first couple years of marriage and my ride or die buddy for almost 40 years had the Firenza and the Sunbird through the late 80s and 90s.
Absolutely agree!! What hascrap's doing is putting sticker shock on the package to fill Ollie's with more fodder for crap cannons to be fired by cobra drones at nerds😂❤
Again, thank you for these videos, they have become my sanity check :) You are appreciated my dude.
I agree with you 100% its a shame that blind consumerism will ultimately make it meaningless.
Joy toy Warhammer is where it’s at for me. Puts Hasbro to shame.
They are better quality than the McFarlane 40K figures to be sure. Would be nice if they made Blood Ravens Space Marines for a change. It would save me the trouble of having to paint them myself.
They're midgets tho, less plastic for more money, and they use sketchy Chinese plastic/ petroleum based paints for them that can cause harm long term if not properly aired / handled
Their TMNT stuff looks great too.
They also cost twice as much for 1/18 scale
Wish they were bigger, but other than that, I love their Horus Heresy line.
Just be patient, they will all end up at Ollies
I agree 100% with everything you said, i really thought that i was the only one who thinks this way, glad to hear that im not. well done. 😁👍💯
“The Prius of toys” 😂😂😂 so true
This is an absolute masterclass in savagery and I’m living for it 👏👏👏
Back in his day this guy had to walk uphill both ways in the snow to go to school and he liked it
As a dude in my mid-50s who hasn't owned an action figure/doll since the 70s with a Stretch Armstrong and GI Joe with the Kung-Fu grip, I live vicariously through your Ollie's videos. They are always appreciated!
BTW - Your videos also itch the scratch of ever wanting to start a modern-day action hero collection. I'll stick to my Lego collection instead.
I have both going on rn but like he said I only buy what I like I don’t stress about completing sets, I just have fun buying when I can and want too and building the collection up. Happy collecting my man!
that’s nearly 100 dollars in aud goddammit
This reminds me of the PC crowd buying $1,500 GPUs and other parts during Covid, so the companies are keeping those prices. Why change them back when you know people will be stupid enough to buy them for the exorbitant prices?
Nothing Hasbro makes is worth $5 much less $60.
Proof?
Google telling me that $20 Transfomers are expensive because they use more parts meanwhile marvel fans paying $60 for Spider-Man
If marvel legends are getting raised to $60 then I’ll save myself the trouble and just buy Mafex figures lol. Way better. Another hasbro L
At $60 you might as well get an Import for an extra $10-20
As a Transformers collector I feel your pain
thanks for informing me!
...i just ordered 1200 of these!!
Sixty dollars for the same low quality action figures. Nope.
You're right..nope. it's only a.39.99 msrp
For that much you can buy a high quality figure like the new SHF Uchiha Itachi
Talk about squeezing the rind... 😂😮😢
No you're exactly right if people keep saying that they'll buy it for that price that is the price it's going to be why do you think they did not tell us a price yet cuz they wanted to test the waters and see what price they could get away with 😠
Nope, not a chance in hell would i pay that for a hunk on plastic.
So glad I waited to buy my massive Super Adaptoid from Ollie's for 17.99 instead of the 60 bucks msrp.
Amen to all you said. I been saying it for years.
Can't help, but feel it's psychological manipulation. People see the higher price and assume it's more valuable, so they buy it hoping to flip it for even more.
Has-bro? More like Hasbeen 😂
They should have just made this a haslab, with hands, heads and webs as stretch goals😂
Trying to buy gi-joe classified figures where I live is a lost cause!
When SW action toys first came out, people were a little shocked by the prices
7:57 The sad reality for us toybros 😂
The gaming industry is also trying to set the new standard for the price of games at $100, starting with GTA 6. It's insane. The quality isn't going up, they just lost so much money putting out garbage for years that they're trying to make up for it and stay afloat and not face consequences. They still haven't learned. I'm not going to reward them with my money.
I'd rather upgrade my FLESHLIGHT. 💦
The price is actually going to be Eleventy Kabillion Dollars!!!
now you can get really upset😂😂😂😂😂
Thats exactly Hasbros strategy here. ML collecters simp soo hard though ill never underatand. I also purchase ML figs.
Thought for a hot minute that this was the latest 12" Legends Spidey. If Hasbro thinks I'm going to pay fifty bucks for a Legends fig... as the old song goes, 'ya got another thing comin!'
Now this is why I have been saying they don’t deserve the licenses anymore.
When will these people understand SUPPLY AND DEMAND?!
WCBS and Anthony’s Customs are Star crossed lovers and I’m totally here for it!! You both turn trashing absolute garbage like Hasbro marvel legends into a high art form! 🤣🤣🤣🤣❤️❤️👍
me coming back from holiday thinking this was just an ordinary $25 marvel legends release LOOOOOOOOL
Imports have there problems as well. $80 for fragile parts and paint chipping. It’s slightly dishonest not to mention the downsides. One fall off the shelf and it may be over for that Mezco. Trust me I know….
“I’m not happy Bob…
Not…
Happy…”
....and an $80-90 Hulk with an extra head and set of hands!! 😠
You can forget that. It can wait.
The offering is what should always be the basic price. With all these headsculpts and accessoires..
This fig is $45 Max without overseas shipping! That’s it🤷♂️
There are somethings Im confused on, and this is in no way attacking the channel or creator.
- Marvel Legends Maximum Series Spider-Man "$59.99"
- Mezco Classic Spider-Man $120.00
- Mafex Classic Spider-Man $94.99
Not everyone can afford the upper echelon of figures, and I think that's what's important to remember. If someone wants to buy the new Spider-Man from Hasbro, let them. If you don't, dont. I personally think it looks pretty cool, and if this line doesn't die like other lines have then I am excited what other releases could be in a line like this.
Looks like Spiderman shot a massive load!
I think these will become the new norm but at $40.
I gave up even spending 25 on a figure forget about 60 ! Since i stopped I've saved over 45 grand in the bank the last 5 years ! Plus building awesome interest! I'd go 19.99 but that's as far as ill go . Hasbro simps will buy anything! As they say there's a sucker in every corner 😂😂
Like I said, Hasbro could very well charge 60USD for this, but that price can't be translated to a US price that easily 😕
the amount of figures in these discount shops in these videos is just staggering.
